2010 TxTech home schedule
Does anyone have a schedule for TxTech football for 2010? Or at least know the opponents/games to be played in Lubbock next year?
Here is my fillabuster to meet the min word req...I saw Mangino the Holiday Inn (ave Q) lobby sat morning...He was very focused...Looking forward to watching Leach on ESPN car wash...I guess this is part of Learfield Sports working its mojo...Try the Migas Rancheras breakfast burrito at Josies, its a good time...

Check out this website. It will give you their schedule all the way to 2015. I am from New Mexico and am very excited to see they will be coming to Albuquerque next fall.

Yeah why can’t we get them at home early in the season?

That could cut both ways
It probably hurt us this year to play them early with a new QB and O-line. Next year they’ll have a new QB (not sure about the line or other new players they will have). But we will also be breaking in new guys on offense to replace Byrnes ( C), Carter (RG) and Winn (RT), plus Britton (WR), Burns (deep snapper), Hale (RB).
And on defense, we’ll be losing Henley (DT/DE/LB), Howard (DE), Jones (DT), Myatt (D line), both Nickersons (DBs), Riley (DE), Sanders (DB), Sharpe (DE), Wall (DB), Wallace (LB), Williams (LB). That’s 6-7 guys that have been starting or playing significant minutes, including everybody but Whitlock on the line.

Love the schedule
TCU and Houston as home games…good news. Also, if Tech can win early non-conference games we should be ranked going into the regular season. At least we will have some non-conference games worth attending for once. Having OK and UT at the end will be tough buit at least we’ll be experienced.

Having OK and UT at the end will be tough but at least we’ll be experienced.
Unfortunately, so will they. History tends to not be so kind to us late season when our team doesn’t have as much depth. Who knows? Maybe 2010 will be the year we actually beat both of them! I’m keeping my head up!

having them back to back...
will definitely pose a challenge but I like the fact we get UT at home late in the season. They will have a new QB and Tech can be pretty intimidating at night (minus A&M game).
I see the biggest challenges being TCU, OSU, OU(away) and UT(home).
Not so bad provided we have healthly players and a solid QB.

If we win out
this year, we will probably start ranked next year because we dont really graduate too many. I cant wait until next season.

Myers needs to push back on Big12
Not to claim a conspiracy, but we need to push back on our scheduling in terms of Big12 south games.
In 2010 & 2011 we have UT and OU back to back. We get a break for a couple of years with OSU in between. Then we change again to back-to-back in 2014 & 2015.
However, if you review the Baylor or aTm future schedules for example, you notice they NEVER have UT & OU back to back. Pretty obvious UT & OU have been powerhouse teams in Big12 south of late.
Now I know you gotta play each game. But it seems to me to not be very advantagous scheduling for Tech. Wish I had more info on how the Big12 schedules conference games. Or if they even do the scheduling for that matter.

I'm also wondering
how we always seem to end up playing the North’s best teams. I thought that was a random draw situation.
by RdrPwr on Nov 2, 2009 1:39 PM CST up reply actions 0 recs
Who we play in the north is exactly the same as always. KU, KSU, NU home away, then CU, ISU, MU home and away. I don’t believe it ever changes.

North's best teams
Haaaaaa. That’s funny. Imisswt it precise. In 2012, we will have 2 away and 1 home vs. North one year w/ 3 home, 2 away vs. South and exact opposite the next year.

2010 Home Schedule
Not sure how accurate this information is, but officials at the Tech Alumni Association informed me several weeks ago that the opening game with SMU is in Lubbock and not in Dallas. That would give the Raiders (and us season ticket holders) six home games for the 2010 season.
Still trying to confirm, however.

I heard that a week or two ago as well. But same as you, I cant confirm it.

Doesn’t SMU still play in that little stadium they went to after the death penalty? I’ve seen 6-man stadiums bigger than that.

Ford Field is an awesome place to see a game…holds about 30,000.
by Tech92 on Nov 2, 2009 8:54 PM CST up reply actions 0 recs
They must have expanded that stadium
I used to drive by it when it couldn’t have held more than 8-10,000. It had been just a practice field. But that was back when they first got the death penalty (mid-80’s?). You could look right down the length of the field as you drove by.

I like our non conference schedule for next year. Potentially beating up on TCU and Houston would really help propel us into the national spotlight.

Have you seen
TCU this year?
I’m just glad we don’t play them this year.

+1...still have nightmares of a few seasons back

Why even bring that up?
I still have friends that remember the severe beating they took a few years before that. Those where the days….. ahhhhhhh

Unfortunately
If you check their 2-deep, they don’t lose much this year.
5 defensive starters incl Jerry Hughes, a safety and both CB’s
3 offensive starters incl LT and their two primary RB’s that are listed as co-starters.
Better get ready. It’ll be essentially the same team assuming no Jr defections to the NFL. And they’re a good team, not doubt. I dislike them greatly.

Gary Patterson..
has done a great job building this team. I’m not sure he doesn’t get picked up by a larger program soon. I think Tech at home against these guys will bring a sell out crowd to the Jones. I definitely respect these guys a whole lot more now you can bet this game will be a prime time selection for ABC starting off the season next year.

I think this was our 'bad schedule' year ...
The next few years look way better, IMO. 2010, in particular, sets us up nicely, with the strong team we will field. Really love that we get both OU and UT late in the season – allows for build-up and, if the recent past is any indicator, Mack Brown and Bob Stoops teams get worse at year end.

ABC/ESPN could change 2010?
Who thinks the that the schedule will get changed to accomodate one of the big networks who needs at good game early in September?
