Now I know that this isn't a huge survey, but I was shocked that so many other big 12 fans thought we are the rudest, and least polite! any thoughts???
I know I have only ever been to one TTU game, but all of the fans I met were extremely nice and polite, am I wrong, did I not see a so called ugly side that away fans see??? I'm gobsmacked!

Everyone should make a game in Lincoln and see how you should act as a fan.

I saw that survey and it’s a joke. if you look at the breakdown of fans that voted, like 90% of aTm fans and a high % of ut fans voted for tech. Take into account their huge fanbases and the numbers get skewed against Tech.

Fans are always nice

if you are wearing their colors. Baylor might be the only Big 12 South exception, but they don’t have much fan support. If you travel to an away game you should expect to have problems with a bunch of kids that haven’t had a chance to get kicked in the crotch by life.

I’ve sworn off traveling with the team after a couple of bad experiences in college station. Fair weather fans are the worst followed by the brainwashing cults at tamu and the whole SEC.

Student section

It can get pretty vicious. Lots of name calling, hand guestures, etc.. . .but except for the few annoying frat boys, everybody is cheering on the team and having fun. A lot of people think the students are rude. . that’s probably where that rumor came from.

Two thoughts

My initial reaction was to suggest we all go to etiquette school and make a concerted effort to change the persona that Tech has earned or which has been fomented over the last decade. However, the more I considered the more I realized it is a function of success – a new found perennial success which destabilizes the status quo and breeds its own kind of negative publicity. I don’t know how long this continues, but I think I like it. Now I know what it feels like to be a (Oakland) Raiders fan thirty-something years ago. And do you see the persona that we’ve created? Combine this ‘study’ with Pirate Mike’s culture …this ain’t the Red Raiders of your grand-fathers.
We do need to truly respect and be polite to opposing fans, but don’t you like being a Pirate….a real Raider? Aaarrrggh!
Finally a telling note on the mindset of Aggies who simply can not get the SWC out of their thought process …. on the question of “Who is your biggest rival?” T-sips answered
as you would expect, 92% OU. For Tech fans, it was almost a split decision 44% TAMU and 40% UT (a concept in transition, I think). For delusional TAMU fans – 96% UT & 3% TT. Tech needs to keep up a winning tradition and continue to build a legacy. This is our time….

I'll admit that I was a "rude fan" when I was in Lubbock.

But not to the point of throwing things at opposing teams and screaming obscenties. Ok, I lied on the last one, but it was usually at the refs. I did however taunt the kick returner if they where near the student section. Opposing teams fans where off limits until they pushed a little to far. From my experience there was more yelling at eachother among the students at Tech than at the opposing fan base. That was always weird to witness.

I’m an outlaw and this is outlaw country. If any of you ever met me you would understand.

Wreck Em TECH!!

This is bogus

I am old enough to have been to games most everywhere (going to CU next year) and our fans aren’t as welcoming as KU or Nebraska, but we are in that next group where fans are obnoxious for their team and not threatening to you. I attended Tech in the 80’s and think that Raider fans since Leach arrived are 5 X the fans we were. I have always been proud of the gusto we show. Many my age have issues with tortillas and the like…I like the fact that we march to our own beat.

Baylor fans dont lie

and they said aTm was the rudest fan base. All I have to say.

That's because the aggie cult is smaller than the baptist cult.....

haha and it could be the fact that aTm is the only place that worries about Baylor, and for good reason. No one else has reason to be rude to their fans.

Stories of Games Past

A few experiences have been sticking in my craw for a while now, and I’ll use this post as fan therapy. I was at the aTm game in college station last year with my two kids. We decided to drive up at the last moment from the Woodlands and buy tickets in the parking lot which we did. We ended up in the north end zone with a couple of Tech students behind us with their Aggie buddies. Of course, the kids had been tailgating and having a good time. About mid-way through the second quarter, Jerod Johnson, their QB, was down on the turf and the trainers were attending him. The student behind me started with this low siren sound – ok, in poor taste, but give the kid a break, we were all students with too much to drink and too little brains once. After about three seconds of the siren, no joke, at least 10 cookie-cut Aggies stood up – you know the type: short cropped hair, obligatory maroon polo, starched wranglers, ropers – and start trying to get at this poor kid. “That’s about ENOUGH!!” “We don’t do that in THIS house” and crap like that. And these guys probably averaged 45yrs! I thought they were going to come over me and my kids to get to the “rude Raider fan”.
Telling the story to a bunch of Aggies at work, they looked at me incredulously and said, with the utmost seriousness, “TECH fans are so rude!”. It was like there is this conversation around the Aggie bonfire about “Those People”…..These guys drive me nuts. I’d give up all the wins this year to have that one back.

Lies

I know a few Aggies that have been to Tech games and claim that A&m fans are a lot ruder than Tech fans.

UT can be bad too

My wife’s cousin (has season tickets in Austin) refused to sell me 2 tickets to this years Texas game because my stepson and I went to Tech. He could not sell them to a non ut fan.
