Reports emerged Friday that Leach or some of his representatives had talked with representatives from Louisville about becoming the Cardinals’ coach next season. However, Leach denounced the rumors after Saturday’s 41-13 win over Oklahoma and made it perfectly clear he’s not leaving the Raiders.
"I heard secondhand about that stuff and I quit going crazy about it," Leach said. "But I have no intentions but to stay here at Tech."
After some contentious negotiations, Leach signed a three-year extension with the Raiders last winter and, including this season, is under contract for five years and $12.7 million.
"I never really had any intention of going anywhere," Leach said.
Leach earned his 83rd victory at Tech on Saturday, passing Spike Dykes to become the school’s winningest football coach. He also has the Raiders bowl-eligible for the 10th straight season heading into the regular-season finale Saturday against Baylor in Arlington.
"I’m just excited about what we’ve got going here at Tech," Leach said. "Within a couple of hours, all I’m going to be focused on is Baylor.
"But I never really had any intention of going anywhere."

Awesome. This is the leach we have waited for. I think he is starting to realize what a good thing he has going here.

I do believe this is the first time we’ve heard him come out and denounce a rumor. He never did before and stayed…wouldn’t it be cruel injustice for him to deny it and leave. I am certain he won’t, but my brain looks for goofy stuff. I am starting to think, now that he’s number one in Tech wins, that HE thinks he can actually have a pretty cool legacy in Lubbock if he stays the course.

Absolutely crazy
Guy hangs around his first head-coaching gig long enough to become Tech’s all time wins-leader, and his name still pops up every winter like he was the mercenary lovechild of Bobby Petrino and Nick Saban. On a more cynical note, I don’t think we need to worry about him leaving until his stock is at least as high as it was last year.

I feel better..
now that my request was granted, thanx coach. Great win on Sat, and congrats to you and your seniors. I also feel vindicated against the assertions some made that my orginal post on this story was inappropriate or some how a figment of my imagination.

Leach
Mike Leach is a Red Raider for life. He understands this. Maybe it is time for the rest of the world to understand this, especially the idiots in the media who would jump on any negative publicity involving Texas Tech, Red Raider athletics, and/or their coaches and players. Leach understands that if he were to leave Tech and accept a head coaching position at another school, he could never match the legacy he has created at Tech, regardless of the school. I anticipate he will remain as long as the Tech regents desire him to stay, which could be another 20-30 years. By then, he will have laid down a legacy encompassing not only Texas Tech, but all of college football in America. I am talking about over 250 wins for his career. That is substantial and we should all be ready for an amazing era of Texas Tech Football to transpire.

End of story.... On another front I hope like hell Ruffin stays just as long
What we are seeing in these Raiders is coaching at it’s best. Real leadership from Leach all the way down. In spite of the injury and inexperience issues this year Leach and Co. have pulled together another remarkable year no matter how it turns out. We are also starting to see all the leadership, work and skills Ruffin is adding to this ship. It won’t be long before HE is being called on to take over another program as HEAD coach. Not only will it be a testament to Ruffin’s qualities and capabilities but to Leach’s insight and wisdom.

Ruff loves him some red raiders. Felt the stands shaking saturday as he jumped up and down cheering on the student section in the south end zone before and after the game.

Bravo Coach Leach for stepping forward and ending any further rumors about potential head coaching positions. You have built a great program and can be a legacy for college football at Texas Tech. Let’s beat Baylor and close out another good season.
