Don't Forget to Vote
Just wanted to remind everyone to get out and vote today. I got to the polls at 6:45 just to make sure I did my part to get Tech to Tier 1 status. Vote yes on proposition 4. They are open from 7:00 am to 7:00 pm.
To stretch this to 75 words. Did anyone notice the biased officiating toward ut Saturday. Especially the ball stripped from Kirkendol where the officials said the play was over. Then when the reporters asked about the play and pointed out that the play had not been blown dead nor were the officials signaling, they had no comment. It just seems like Big 12 officiating will do whatever it takes to get ut a win. Leach has reported discrepencies multiple times leading up to his public comment that got a fine. Mark Mangino got fined for criticizing officiating in 2005 on a penalty that was just made up to give ut the ball back. Am i just being paranoid? Does anyone else see this? It really ticks me off especially since I spend a lot of time around some big ut boosters. Thoughts?

I have noticed the UT officiating bias the past few years. I’m glad someone else notices it as well. It’s horrible in every game that is close.

Now that the proposition has passed, is there anyhting else we can do? By “we” I mean alumni and general public that is not directly involved in any decision making. I thought we were the closest school to making it to Tier 1, but it seems that U of H is closer and possibly UT Dallas. It also seems that it is integral to be in first to get the larger amount of money.
I am having a discussion/argument with my father in law about how unethical ut athletics is. I don’t feel like we have the arrests (including coaches) they have. Our coach doesn’t contact every media outlet that will listen and whine when he doesn’t get his way. I think I am worn out about it living here in Austin and having to face it every day. If our program was as full of criminals and whiners I would not support it.

What else can we do?
“have babies, convert others”
If that’s not an option, join the TTAA and RRC and give what you can.

The state already posted its budget money for the rising schools
and Tech was well in the lead on state money. It was in one of Seth’s Daily Reports last week or so. We will be the next Tier one simply because of what we do with the research money we already have, and how much money we currently receive from Donors. I think the main thing holding us back right now is the size of the student population, which is constantly growing. You absolutely cannout walk through the SUB during peak hours, its ridiculous.
