PrintInteresting post on Big12 blog today on ESPN. I found this interesting for several reasons. I would like to say up-front that the Ag's won the game so to the winner goes the spoils.
That said, here are a few excerpts from the post that I found interesting. Commentary below the quote is mine...

Quote from Sherman when asked about going to Colorado:
"Lubbock’s got a pretty good altitude up there," Sherman said. "There’s a lot of hot air up there, too. We had to deal with it."
--- Have to assume the "hot air" he refers to is coach Leach's various comments. Clearly doesn't appear that Sherman has moved past some of the comments from coach Leach during the offseason.
OT Michael Shumard quote regarding taking a knee against Iowa St:
"That shows class," Shumard said. "I would hate to be a player for a team that would try and score with … 20 seconds left in the game. That would call time out to try and score."
--- I guess I can understand this frustration from the opposing sideline. If you dig a little deeper, you uncover the other side of the story which was coach Leach hoping to reward his RB (Woods) for all of his effort on that drive. It was clear the replay booth wasn't going to review and he wanted to give them the opportunity to see whether or not Woods scored. So not a stretch to see coach Leach was hoping for a reward for his player (as well as for the other 11 guys). If you don't like it, then stop them and make them punt!
Lastly, I find it a little odd that they are taking time to discuss the Tech win after an impressive victory over Iowa St. It was an impressive bounce back to be sure. And clearly it was something that went a little deeper for Sherman and the Ag's to get that win. Enjoy it while you can, Aggies.

They think they've
arrived now that they beat Tech in a fluke game. No worries on this end as I am confident we put them right back where they belong in 2010. Their best player Miller is trying to get out (NFL) while his numbers are decent. These guys got Tech on a bad day and we beat ourselves. I congratulate them on the win but I think we all know Tech is a much better team. As far as them referring back to Tech win over their Iowa State win well that just proves beating Tech is everything to these guys. Enjoy it while it lasts Aggies.

I have heard for several years from my Aggie friends that the only game they care about winning is Tech. Kinda suprising when you consider that UT is supposedly their hated rival.
Aggies have MASSIVE erection for Tech these days. I am sorry for the crassness of that comment, but it is what it is. Their fan boards are peppered with Tech posts weeks after, and in some cases, months after a game. It’s silly. They are infatuated with us.

makes you want to just tell them “Let it go, Man.” Really, who cares? Enjoy and support YOUR school and stop worrying so much about what everyone else is doing.
BTW, I’m starting to think you and Raider1992 might be the same person posting twice??? That or ya’ll work together or are good friends or something. Pretty often that I see one commenting and the other following closely behind. LOL

Just wait until Tech's
recruiting surpasses theirs in years to come. Also if Tech makes Tier One status they will just die.

I have family that chose to be Aggies and the ONLY time they care about football is during Tech week (not even UT week anymore).
When they won I got texts (rubbing the win in my face of course) from people that just weeks before had sworn they’d never watch another A&M game….

So they’re too classy to score at the last minute? iirc, there was about 1:30 when they scored their last one against us. They just had to get over 50. “I would hate to be a player for a team …[like that]”. Nothing like hypocracy.

We were trying to run out the clock when we got that last score. That one is on your defense for not being able to stop us when what we were doing was obvious to everyone in the stadium.

Now that I think of it.....
Not having a “rival” tells me that we are unrivaled. Or nobody rivals us. Anyway, you get the idea. We are so good that we don’t need a rival. Let that cook for a minute. Taste good doesn’t it?

Ha ha so the last post on the last 3 posts I have been to end with how great we are. Bye week time to get our spirits up again huh? Ha ha I hope Leach and the Fat girls are telling the team how bad they suck every day this week. Fat girls promise to make the mad dog if they win next week, and nothing until then. If you have to ask what the mad dog is….. good for you haha.
Lubbock happens to be the highest elevation we've played at so far this season
since he was answering a question about playing in the thin air in Boulder, referring to the highest elevation we’ve played at this season makes sense.
I do think Shumard was taking a poke at Leach. The thing is, we haven’t played anyone else who has tried to run the score up on us the last two seasons besides Tech.
Some might think that canvassing a press conference covering two teams that you are not a fan of for references to Texas Tech is obsessive behavior, though.

Beergut – Gotta disagree with you here. I wasn’t canvassing anyone’s press conference. Actually I found these items on the Big12 blog earlier this week. Frankly, I was surprised with the comments given the good win over Iowa State last Saturday. Thought they would spend more time talking about that game. You can check the links in the original posts if you don’t believe me.
I can see how it looked like running up the score. Your point earlier about being the defensive team’s responsibility to stop you when everyone knows what you are going to do can just as easily be flipped around to the game where you thought Tech was running it up.
And there was the games last year where OU put up 66 and UT put up 49. But they probably weren’t trying to run it up.
Joking aside, props to you for taking up for your team. I do respect and have appreciation for that.

well, I think I explained why Sherman mentioned Lubbock
it was to answer a question about the elvation in Boulder
BTW, while I thought it was a dick move by Leach to go for the score (I don’t have an issue with him calling the timeout), I do think it is on our defense to stop the offense.
I don’t think there is a comparison between us running the ball every play when we’re trying to run out the clock and we score, and Tech scoring with less than a minute with the game already decided last season.
Also, in the Iowa State game, which is what everyone is referring to here, we kneeled the ball three times so as not to score, and turned the ball over on downs. Serious question: Has Mike Leach ever done that at Tech?
I just think the claims that we were somehow tryng to RUTS on Tech in Lubbock is patently false.

I don’t even think the atm penis wrinkles are worth us considering “rivals” anymore. They suck and we are pretty damn good. That’s it. Yeah, they got us this year, I know, but c’mon people! We own atm over the last dozen or so years. Let’s concentrate our “hatred” toward the ones that we cant beat every year… i.e. ou, ut, effin colo and effin mizzou. I would rather it be us that takes the next step than okie lt.
