That's Premium Content

And if you don’t know, Seth does not like us posting about the premium content on other sites (understandably) so I guess your outta luck.

I do not think,

although I’ve never read the terms of service agreement between the subscription services, that a person is not allowed to disseminate any of the information the user acquires from said service. I’d prefer that everyone stay on the safe side and not disclose any information from those services. I keeps me safe from being potentially sued for allowing subscription based information to be posted on DTN.

Not to mention he is the #10 recruit in Florida I believe and we are 6-3 this year. I think him looking at other schools is something anyone could say. Premium or not.

okay #1

stop hyper-ventilating. He’s a 4 star recruit in one of the most heavily recruited states in the country.

  1. verbal commitments are distinguished from real commitments because THEY AREN’T REAL COMMITMENTS
  2. stop stalking high school boys.

Keep in mind Seth is a lawyer, so this stuff is sensitive to him…probably a bit too protective of information (the rule is basically the equivilent of saying you can’t have a conversation with someone over something you read on premium site)… I think media law will say it’s okay to relay information, in an ethical and legal sense, so long as it’s not paraphrased and the source is clearly identified and credited.

But this is Seth’s domain, so I would say go with his rules.

I completely agree 92

And I wouldn’t ever disclose premium content. However, if you’re just some dude in Crosbyton, and you pay for access to those sites, what’s the point if Joe Jack can’t show his superior RR recruiting knowledge off around the coffee pot at the cotton gin? Sports are more about the talking between the 12 games a year, and especially with OU fans, they’ll tell you about every recruit the have. If I paid for that info, I’d BS with my buddies with it, but I’d sure not peddle it in writing.

Not a surprise

I hate that looming February deadline. Technically, none of the guys with verbal commitments are safe until then. I really hope he doesn’t leave. It really servers us well to start recruiting from Florida and any of the other SEC territories. If we can just win out, maybe it won’t be such an issue and we can pick up some more 4 star recruits. Either way, we still tend to do pretty good with our 3 star guys.

If he was a defensive player, I would be a lot more worried!

he's a solid commit...

I wouldn’t get to worried about him or Corker for that matter. Any receiver would be a fool to pass up a chance to catch balls in this offense. Just look at Julio Jones at Alabama – he’s bascially been ignored all season long for the running game with Ingram.

can you imagine him here? wow!

Boone and Others Have a Right to Visit

If I was a HS grad with that opportunity I would take it in a New York minute. I experienced some of that when I graduated from engineering school, engineers were in demand, I visited several companies in Texas to get a lay of the market and to see what people were doing in my field.

Boone or any other verbal owes it to themselves and to their commited universities to assure themselves with the decision that is key to their future either as football players or as students…or take the opportunity to simply to enjoy the trip.

Rest assured, if we, TTU, get an opportunity to turn a target recruit’s decision, we will do it with aplomb. It works boths ways and I see that as good no matter what.

Regarding Premium Content. I am not a lawyer. I am trained and experienced as an engineer. People who invent have patents, people who write and draw have copy rights. Premium content is kind of like copy rights…their pages belong to them, so we cannot copy from them. On the other hand I cannot understand how anyone can claim to have a right to knowledge although that is a growing concept…especially if it is organized as a process such as the Root Cause Failure Analysis process for investigating accidents and other failures.

If I read a newspaper, which I purchase, I did not purchase the rights to republish the pages of the newspaper, its photos, etc. I do know what I read and I find it very difficult for anyone to claim, in a substantial way, that I got any information that I use in a conversation from any particular source. If I chose or need to use information from a source to validate my thoughts, like I (we) was taught in english composition classes, I am obligated to cite the source properly.

If I join a site that claims ‘premium content’ (I am speculating—I am not a member of any such site), I suspect I would be required to ‘sign’ an agreement to protect ‘their’ information. That could be where it gets sticky. I do not see how another site such as DTN could be held culpable if I did that….but that is more an issue of what could happen in the event of a law suit…the results of which are as often as not as predictable as a coin flip.

Happens all the time

HSchoolers string along Universities they havent committed to allowing other them to continue to woo them knowing those universities are holding out hopes that they will switch their verbal commitments. ALL of us would do it too if we could.

Do some change their commitments? Yeah, sure. But the percentage is small.

Guys like Boone and Corker cant come visit Tech and see guys like Zouzalik, Torres, and Jeffers and NOT leave thinking, “Yeah, Im gonna get a chance to play”

The Lyle Leong Bandwagon will Continue to Roll!!!

Wreck 'em, Tech!

I wasnt trying to be an ass

I just figured to be on the safe side that any premium info should not be spread. I just didnt want to get in trouble with Seth or Rivals/Scout. You guys can do whatever you want I was just saying I was not going to say anything about the article ( I do pay for rivals so I have access to said info). Anyway, let Boone visit where ever he wants, I think we will be Ok. I think Boone and Corker both stick together on this deal and see it through and end up at Tech. Also, it REALLY sucks we dont have a game this week but I guess it will be good to heal up a bit.

There probably is some thought that I could read something on a subscription based service and then relay that information out there to you guys, but word it completely different, however, I’d rather be on the safe side and just not mess with it.
