I imagine that if that got out its gotta be against the rules. And the account would be shut down. But I could be wrong. I think the point is that if you want to know everything so fast then you should sign up for scout.com. Your post here and feelings pretty much explain why people pay for those sites. And those sites wouldn’t exist without that relationship.

You can share your password with anyone you want. I do it every year with some buddies with MLB.com for the online radio distraction while at work.

The fact you choose to do it doesn't make it legal or "right"

Not to get all “legal” here as we licensed attorneys are prone to do. However, it is not okay to purchase a subscription and share the method of logging in with others, whether you charge them or give it away. Here is an excerpt from scout.com’s terms of service since the original poster seems fascinated with trying to get information for "free""

3. Password. When you sign up to become a Member or Subscriber, you will also be asked to complete the Fox registration credentials and choose a password and username. You are entirely responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your password and username. You agree not to use the account, username, or password of another Member or Subscriber at any time or to disclose your password to any third party. You agree to notify Fox immediately at Scout.Privacy@fox.com if you suspect any unauthorized use of your account or access to your password. You are solely responsible for any and all use of your account.

You’d be violating their terms of service, which can get your account banned. In which case you can probably just sign up for another account and they’ll be happy to continue to take your money.

I hate to see news and information outlets going to subscription-based services online, but I won’t really get into that. Scouts.com doesn’t own the information, they own the content they publish. And no, I don’t think its a good idea to share account information with random people on the internet. You’d probably have better luck finding a guy who is already gabbing about what he read on their site and getting him to gab at you.

I don’t understand the fear of posting the information as long as it’s properly attributed. News sources constantly report information they’ve gained from other news sources. I guess I don’t understand how news works, maybe all those sources get some kind of royalty in exchange for the content, but maybe not.

much ado about not much…that means I pretty much agree with you, merrik…

and I don’t belong to ANY premium sites beyond the MLB.com audio thing…and I feel no guilt sharing the password with two buddies ; )

if you want the info, pay for it

I’m sure you have enough money to afford it. I assume the reason you pay for the ‘premium’ is that it is info that they pay scouts and employees to find out by actually talking to the players, staff and coaches (unless I’m wrong) of the teams, and to be fair if they are going to that effort, it’s not going to be free.
Again if you’re that desperate for info then give a little to get a little, but be patient grasshopper if you are as broke as me!

Not a good idea

As jeffinhouston pointed out, it is against the contract and you would be at risk of losing the access to privileged information, which is so because they have gained access to it prior to anyone else being able to and therefore can ‘sell’ it on their privileged site. That plus the chance that if you ‘loan’ out your logon information, your ‘friend’ could do some damaging things by using that access, and you would suffer the consequences. The world is full of them, and sometimes a friend is one of them. So, best scenario is to refrain from ‘giving’ your logon info to ANYONE!

I Prefer to not know than to 'share' a password

I rest comfortable that I will know anything worth knowing with time and patience.

Sharing Subscriptions

I view sharing subscriptions with friends as basically the same thing as letting your pals come over and watch your TV when you’re not home. They don’t have to pay Dish or whoever to watch the games, they do it using your contract with the content provider. But they are in your house, so they need to be trustworthy.

I don’t subscribe to any ‘premium’ news sites either. The only thing I’d like to see more of that I currently can’t is all the Texas Tech games on TV (preferably in HD), and I’d like Texas Tech to open a store online where you can purchase football seasons and individual games like KSU and other schools have. I spent so much time trying to find a copy of the Insight Bowl against Minn. only to find that the TTU Athletic Department has them, they just market that extremely poorly.
