Good Advice for Mr. Potts from MotoGP
I love MOTO GP which is to ultimate form motorcycle road racing
I convert dollars into euros to pay for online access, I stay up until 3am to watch live online broadcast in languages I do not understand, I bablefish online magazines to get decent coverage of races..... you get the picture.
I found this quote from a Spanish team manager who specializes in rejuvenating the careers of riders who are having competitive issues. This is paraphrased from a Italian translation.
"You rode motorcycles because it was fun, and you were fast. Now it is difficult for you because MotoGP is serious business. We will give you a bike to ride at the track, and you can ride as you like until it is fun again.
Then you will also be fast! You will see!"
If I was to sum up the biggest difference between Potts and Sticks It would be that Sticks seemed to be having more fun playing the game. Lets hope Mr Potts learns how to have fun playing the game again.
By the way Texas' own Colin Edwards finished the MotoGP season this past week end Fifth over all.
He was 3 /10 of a second off first place pace on average for the season! And ya'll think D1 football is competitive.

When I was a student at Tech, I used to think that looked like the ultimate fun. Then I discovered a concept called mortality. ;-) Nowadays I get alarmed if I drag the foot-board on my Ultra Classic.
You could be right about Potts. ‘Trying too hard’ and ‘not having fun’ was what everyone was saying about that QB in Austin earlier this year, too.

I saw Colin Edwards race at San Angelo back in ‘91 or so. He was a kid from Dallas and it was like watching Shaq against munchkins. I haven’t really rode since my ZX-7r launched me over a Ford Taurus at 4th and Indiana, thanks for the illegal left turn of the Taurus. Some day I hope to get a Gold Wing and ride far, far away from other people.

Goldwings are very nice....
Like a big Mercedes, fast and luxurious.
I am leaning toward this

Kind of a J-Model Duesenberg meets meets Nissan 370Z.

I do like the Street Glide....
but I am drawn to the Stars over all styling which is Raymond Loewy industrial streamlined.
like this

Don’t get me wrong I grew up on Harleys but their design is more like this

The Star also has gee whiz technology like an aluminum frame and swing arm, four valve heads, and a variable exhaust valve system.
The entry fee is also a little less than the Harley.

I grew up on Jap bikes but went to Harley's when I was 13.
I still have my H2 Widowmaker though. I love that bike. 750cc Triple 2-Stroke w/ late model head conversion and pipes. This thing is entirely to fast!! Cafe Racer Body Kit by that old man, I can’t think of his name…..

My Dad was a Harley Guy
I rode various bikes through my teenage years Jap, Spanish, English, mostly old used up bikes I could afford. Bought a new H-1E in 1974 (Dad seemed to think I might kill my self on the H-2). By 20 I was a Harley guy until I was priced out of the market. Started up with used BMWs I still ride a nice R100RT with the wife and have a 97 Suzuki Bandit for solo. The BMW is still a very nice bike but I do not like the idea of finding parts if something happens on the road. That is why I am looking at the Stratoliner.
Hang on to that H-2 (pun intended) it will keep you young and do nothing but appreciate in value.

Colin Edwards - Texas Tornado
How I miss watching MotoGP. Rossi, Biagi, and those Hayden Boys……
I think if Potts has some fun out there we might end up with a fun game to watch. When I say fun I mean “blowout”

Rossi
Is from another planet, simply the greatest motor sportsman that has ever lived.
He also gave me the phrase “Viva La Figa”
Max Biagi has a winter home outside San Antonio, that is where he goes to live a normal life.

So I'm guessing you have the DVD "Faster"?
Best thing to ever be on film if you ask me. Do you remember when he was toying with the idea for F1? He set the track record at Shumacher’s home track for Ferrari!! That was awesome.

wow
Two people who know who Colin Edwards is, and on a “ball” sport blog!
Just for you two, Ben Spies will be Colin’s team mate in 2010.
So a French Based MotoGP team will have two Texans as it riders.
I am as giddy as a teenage farm girl at her first bull ridd’in contest.

I was really into racing at age 17-20
But the tires and such got too expensive. I have gone close to 200 mph on loop 289 in the dark. Had a jet kit, pro 4 into 1 pipe…..As I remember it is about 26 miles around Lubbock and we made it in 12 min once. I am lucky to have survived that period of my life.

Just to not look like a doucher
For those of you who don’t know, a jet kit is not for fighter planes, it’s a way to get max efficiency with fuel. Jetting fuel…. Whatever I’ve grown alot in 20 years.

As I recall the loop in Lubbock is 28 miles on the inside lane and 31 on the outside.
I torched the loop on a CBR1100 Blackbird a few years ago, before the loop was done. Rode thru McKenzie Park way too fast one night too. To be young and dumb again……..
