Gill Hiring Good for Big12

I am a cheer for your conference guy, so when I heard Turner Gill was getting the job at KU, I thought good for him, good for KU, and good for the Big12.  Not just because he is a minority (i am not) coach, but because over the years we have heard this guy is going to be the next great coach, if a "Big University" would give him a chance. Well, Here It is! KU has helped the Big12 add another blockbuster name to their list of coaches.  On a side note, he will get KU on the winning side of the ball again, and with that, The Big 12 may be looking to a record breaking 2010. With all the talk about how bad 2009 was for them this year, next season may look something like this;

TxTech-TxA/M-TU-ou all having a realistic shot at winning the south and being in the Top 25,

NU-KU-Mizzu-CU-ksu-and dont count out Iowa st having shots at the north and and being in the Top 25.

sounds unlikely, but so did having 3 south teams in the top 10 in 2008!

Gill

A huge hire for KU. This guy is a winner and will have great influence when recruiting kids to the program. This may be a boost for the north division which has been a long time coming. 2010 will be interesting to say the least. In the south I see Tech and OU being the solid leaders with UT losing 3-4 next season. A&M and Baylor will improve but I don’t see more than 7 wins for either of those guys healthy or not.

The North will be all Nebraska with a log jam at 2nd place among the others. I see Tech and Nebraska in the Big 12 Championship game. I’m typically not this optimistic but Tech will be the team to beat in 2010 and Leach will have them ready.

Guy is a winner?

I heard he was 20-30.

I used to be on the Gill bandwagon but I’m starting to realize that the only reason I thought he was really good is because everyone told me he was really good. What he did at Buffalo is impressive, I suppose, since that team was just so awful to begin with (I understand you can’t make an ostrich omelet with penguin shit) but I think Kansas took a pretty big chance on a guy who has only proven that he’s better than Jim Hofher.

Go register. Or else.

yes...

but Buffalo is a tough destination. This guy has the talent to coach at a much higher level with a better selection of athletes to pull from. He will make some noise at KU.

Isn’t Gill a Nebraska guy? Should be interesting when he plays his old team.
