TTU's Carter and Sharpe Make AP AA List

Congratulations to Brandon Carter and Brandon Sharpe both of whom made the 3rd team list.

Carter's accomplishment is especially significant in light of being suspended for a game this season.  And consider his value as a pass blocker, one allowed sack in two years...against some pretty good football players.  His game against Nebraska's SUH was especially significant IMHO.

Wowers, Brandon Sharpe's election to this list is especially significant.  I cannot remember the last time we had an AA on the defensive line, well it was Montae Reagor, DE, 1988.  Again we see an accolade for a player who came to TTU as a JC.  He did not play much last season, but has been a gamer from day one this season, his and his coaches' work have paid dividends.

Both

Are to be congratulated, although I feel they have been slighted. They are both at least worthy of 2nd, maybe even 1st team recognition. Carter has beenas effective as any OL in the country for two years and just has not been recognized accordingly. Sharpe made his move this year, so due to the ignorance of most voters, he probablywould at best expect a 2nd team slot, especially considering the number of sacks and hurries he has produced. While 3rd team is good, the country still tends to be less cognizent of Tech players overall, unless one (Crabs) stands out significantly.

Sharpe's ability to break onto this list is pretty impressive

given that it’s typically a recognition of resume, and Sharpe was a non-entity on defense before this year. What a breakout year though, and I think it reflects well both on his patience and work ethic, and the way Tech’s program can build excellent players, even when the raw materials aren’t all 4-5 star. Here’s to him sticking on an NFL roster, if that’s what he wants to do.
