Missouri Governor takes shot at Tech
So with all of the drama regarding Missouri potentially joining the Big 10, the Missouri governor has decided to take a shot at who he feels are the weaklings of the Big 12 academically.
Missouri Governor Jay Nixon stated this, "I'm not going to say anything bad about the Big 12, but when you compare Oklahoma State to Northwestern, when you compare Texas Tech to Wisconsin, I mean, you begin looking at educational possibilities that are worth looking at," Nixon said in an interview with The Associated Press.

what the he!!
I actually just read that. what the hell? Northwestern is almost Ivy League, I will give him that, but wisconsin? And the reason for them leaving is not about academics, its about the ATHLETIC PROGRAM getting more money. And as athletics goes, TT and osu bring more to the table for the Big 12 than wisconsin and northwestern bring athletically to the big11! He is a suit that his speeking out his A$$!!!

Brought this up a week ago and basically we all have added our input. However, I must say that when he made those comments, he showed his ignorance. I understand many of MIzzou’s fans on the blogs have also dissed Tech and others in the Big-12. If they did leave, it would be difficult at first, but I think the Big-12 would survive, regardless of which school they invited and accepted to enter the conference as a replacement school. I wonder if the Mizzou governor knows that Tech graduation rate for footballers is higher than that of Wisconsin. Also, Tech will soon become a Tier I school that will quickly be upgraded by many of the “rating” organizations. Texas Tech is already a great school, with graduates in many fields that are as competent, often more so, than most Big-10….er, 11…. schools. Something to remember, most rating systems originate in areas of high density of population, which just so happens to rest in the same area taken up by the institutions in the Big-11. So, whatever ratings are provided, remember just who those raters are affiliated with. I would imagine most are Big-11 grads. I know the Big-11 spreads the money more evenly than does the Big-12, but, for my money, they aren’t anywhere near as potent in sports as are most Big-12 members, including Texas Tech.

Go Raiders . . .
Double-T Nation
give 'em a pat on the ass and send them packing
I would be in favor of seeing Mizzou go IF AND ONL"Y IF we could replace them with either TCU or Arkansas. Then move OU to the north. This would allow an OU / Nebraska game (tradition) each year.
would kill the OU/Texas game as well as Beldam, unless the big XII went with a “permanent rival” schedule. You play 1 team every year and the other 5 teams on a rotating schedule. Even then, bedlam wouldn’t work (RR Shootout > Bedlam). So in short, no, that wouldn’t work at all.
I’d think it’d be much more likely to see arky go into the north if they come back into the SWC fold.
I sent their gov a friendly email a few days ago. From looking at their forum, it seems the folks at OSU have sent him a few choice words as well.
Agreed that money is the real issue but he’s using academics as a smokescreen. Typical politician. If they would be losing football money to go into a system where their academics would get better, I suspect the subject would have never come up.
BTW, Mizzou comes to Lubbock next year.
I'm sure...
Leach would have a great answer for the Missouri Gov. so I’ll defer to the captian to handle this one. Give it a little time and Leach will sneek one in during a press conference. Rest easy red raiders as the captain loves this stuff.

wow…I’m kind of confused about Mizzou’s Governor’s comments. I mean what exactly is the factor that determines which school has better academics than another? If it’s in terms of graduation rates perhaps he should look up the statistics as Texas Tech seems to always be on top in that category (especially for the players in NCAA athletics).
As for OSU...
Their big ass Boone Pickens football stadium and Mike Gundy is probably going to awe more players to join their team than their academics, but perhaps that is just me who thinks that way. I don’t understand Mizzou’s Gov’s logic really. Most players typically join the school they firmly believe they can maximize their athletic potential. Education is always important, but I’m not sure if most players join certain schools for that reason. I personally think that is farse logic, but who knows? Maybe I’m wrong.
LAJ reports
that Forbes ranks Tech 55 in it’s 2009 ranking of the top 100 public universities. Missouri is ranked 92.

yeah i just looked this up to verify. go to forbes.com and then check out the list of top public universities. the numbers are correct. missoursi is ranked 37 spots below tech. the governor probably went to mizzou which is why he is an idiot. give me a break. can’t tell you how much this fact makes me smile. oh and merry christmas to everyone from cancun!

January 13th
Tech plays Mizzou January 13th, in basketball, but i still can’t wait to beat up on Mizzou in football. Especially after this…
Mizzou who?
I have been privileged to have various Wisconsin and Northwestern graduates work FOR me — a Red Raider — on several projects. Never had any Mizzou grads . . . guess the numbers clearing the interview process were too low. The shame in this idiot’s remarks is that it creates an unnecessary and inappropriate issue the next time we play Mizzou — which has earned some of my respect for their competitiveness and fan base.
You don't have to leave, but you gotta get the heck outta here...
Dear Mizzou,
Do the Big XII a favor and just get the heck out. We’d be better of with TCU anyway. Thanks for all the fun.
PS-How are things going without Chase Daniels?
