Tech adds defensive depth
Texas Tech has gained the verbal commitment of Dartwan Bush, a DT for Clute Brazoswood, according to the AJ. He had an excellent visit at Tech along with a few other athletes this past weekend. Also, V.J. Fehoko, Sam's little brother, has strengthened his opinion of Tech and could soon make a committment. Bush, 6-foot-1 and 255 pounds, was selected by the coaches in District 24-5A as the league’s most valuable player, as he was probably the biggest single factor in this year’s charge by Brazoswood into the Regional playoffs. He had 81 tackles, 30 tackles for loss and 15 sacks this season.
Fehoko, whom we are all a bit more familiar with by now, also had a very good visit, being escorted by his brother. At 5-foot-11, 225 pounds, Fehoko could vie for the strongside linbacker spot if he signs, enabling him to play alongside his brother.
Concerning the football team's outlooks for next year, the AJ also has an article about theredshirt receivers for Tech. Apparently, the coaches have witnessed the new group, including plit end Eric Ward, flanker Derrick Mays, “Y’’ inside receiver Aaron Fisher and “H’’ inside receiver Ernest Celestie, who have built the expectations of the coaches.
All of this in the AJ. It is just enough info to whet our appetites as we look forward to next year. Go there and read, it will be worth your time and get you excited for our Red Raiders.

I'm so excited about all of this.
Winning championships requires defensive depth. If we get Fehoko I’ll flip out with glee.

Hmmm...
Having the Fehoko players play simultaneously would be pretty cool. Don’t forget that We’ve got a brother combination coming from the McRoy’s as well on the offensive side of the ball. Is Tech having a Gemini fetish?
(granted neither are twins, but they certainly play like it) lol

As for Defense...
I hope it gets better next season. One of the biggest Achilles Heels of this team is their defense. It’s improving…slowly but surely (especially in terms of causing turnovers), but we still need a solid core of players that keep opposing teams from scoring a boat-load of points.
Having A&M score 50+ on us showed Tech’s flaws on defense. I just hope this Defensive LIne gets better next season. I want to see 4-5 Brandon Sharpe-like players on the field :D :D

The defense is a good defense already. It ranks well nationally. Please do not use one game to characterize the defense. Remember there was no part of the TTU football game that was worthy of compliment in this year’s TAMU game.

agreed, TallMike...
… as is evidenced by Texas Tech’s overwhelming victory over OU, and of course, we know that OU’s defense would never be characterized as “needing improvement.”
Tech’s D has come so far in the past three years under Ruffin. He uses ‘under the radar’ players, or coaches up his talent to the point that we are now approaching a place of consistency as we take on some of the nation’s best football programs week in and week out.
We might just put it ALL together next year.
