Darko’s 3 first half fouls hurts a bit, but he wasn’t playing his best as it is. I think tonight, though, is a game where we can afford him being on the bench. Those long guards are more valuable defenders against the huskies thank the center.

The D looks great. That last call on us out of bounds was not out on us. We got it back though.

by logan5555 on Dec 3, 2009 7:15 PM CST reply actions

If we play with D like this and crash the boards we might make the tournament this year.

Oh very much so

Even the announcers initially said there was no doubt about it. And there was really no way not to rush, just kind of got pushed along. I was standing there in shock and had to move that way in order to not get knocked down. If you were a student who didnt rush when we appeared to everyone to have beat the number 10 ranked team with a buzzer beating 3pointer, I would have to say you should transfer.

Early in the season, all teams need improvement – if we are 20-0 we would still need improvement. How bout an ‘at a boy’ for a change!

Were there alot of missed shots in the second half or just outstanding D from the Huskers? Maybe a little of both?

Karma, baby!!

Had to win it twice. Those TV announcers weren’t PAC-10 homers, were they? Questioning every call that went our way.

by TechFirst on Dec 3, 2009 8:42 PM CST reply actions

What a freakin game

Big win for us. The buzzer beater was about as close a call there is but looked like the right call. On a side note I think maybe there should an over/under on the court/field rushes when we play a ranked opponent. Maybe we should just rush the court if were ahead at halftime or during a timeout.

by Wreck Em on Dec 3, 2009 8:53 PM CST via mobile reply actions

WTH. Go to help a neighbor put up Christmas lights on his house and we beat the #10 team?

The crowd was great. Great college basketball atmosphere. Real classy of PK to quiet the crowd when they were chanting ‘overrated’.

i agree

washington is definitely a very good team! I was very impressed with the athleticism of our team! Cant wait to watch them in person against tcu next week!

I thought so too…pat is a real stand up guy. Everybody loves and respects him, which was evident since it took about 2 seconds for everyone to to shut up.

That was for the fans that were fans when being fans wasn’t cool. Thanks Pat K. Reminded me of TTU vs. UNC minus the broken backboard timeout.

UN-BE-LEEEEVVVVVV-A-BUUUULLLLL!!!!!!

WOW! The Raiders did something I would never have believed had I not watched it happen. After not giving them a chance earlier, I am very humbled. If this team can now keep their heads and not let it mess them over by defeating a top-10 team, they could actually vie with UT for the Big-12 Championship, at the least get into the post season NCAA tournament. I am now a believer. Pat Knight has done a wonderful jb getting this team ready for the season.

I hope this unexpected success—-so far—— by the basketball team will provide some great encouragement and desire in the football team as they prepare for a post-season bowl game.

Congratulations to Pat and the Red Raiders. GO TECH!

Bad Referee

Apparently the ref who was officiating the game and nullified Singletary’s three pointer: Tom O’Neill has a history of making bad calls. His calls usually are biased towards Pac-10 and Big 10 teams. Just google his name and you will find a number of controversial decisions associated with him.

Great win by Tech!! Congratulations!! We just beat a top basketball team.

Is it me or is the fact that we have quirky coaches seem to bode well for us?

Leach, Bobby Knight, and now Pat Knight…….

Let’s get a crazy Track and Field coach and maybe a goofy Soccer coach and see what happens….

Forgot his name

won 3 straight ’ships with aTm, then came to tech for another 3 straight. I guess we just have something else we can dominate them in now, and to think they are an agriculture based school!

TTU is 8-0 and 2-0 in Pac 10 play.

Way to go team, that was awesome.

Is Tech the only D-I school whose coaches wear polos? It’s not a knock at all, but they look more like high school coaches in that attire. Not that they coach like HS coaches, just that they look like ’em.

by Tech92 on Dec 3, 2009 9:21 PM CST reply actions

I remember a time when the football team didn't wear a coat and tie for the pictures.

Hated it. They look much better now. If Pat wants to wear a polo let him I say……

About the officiating

While the TV crew calling the game were doing everything they could to build up Washington, the officials were very even with their foul calls, although there were a LOT of fouls-over 60 for the game. The call at the end of regulation was that the shot was good, but the replay proved otherwise. So, the official actually called in Tech’s favor. Anyway, I really don’t think the refs had much real negative effect on the outcome. Tech just won the game by playing tough basketball against a really good team that was worth being ranked. Now, Tech is worth receiving that same consideration in the rankings. GO TECH! BEAT TCU!

It's all over now so it really doesnt matter,

but to say it was a fairly called game would be a stretch, in the first half at least. It seemed that early on they were calling the ticky tack fouls against us, but not Washington. And Washington got NBA traveling rules the entire game. But that being said, I saw several bad calls in our favor in OT so I’m not upset :)

by RdrPwr on Dec 3, 2009 10:04 PM CST up reply actions

It was even but bad. Washington was called for blocking and reaching fouls on our end, we were called for shooting fouls on their end. A constant makeup call.

by kayakyakr on Dec 3, 2009 11:19 PM CST up reply actions

the crew did build up washington but they are #10 and we sucked last year. that being said how exciting was that game! Our D is for real. That is if washington really is that good. I’m proud of our guys and wish more people would have showed at the game. Go tech!

by logan5555 on Dec 3, 2009 9:36 PM CST reply actions

Free throws

kept us in the game and their misses forced the overtime. Kudos to Tech for shooting 75% from the line. You win and lose a lot of games there.
