Scotty was named the 2009-2010 Gatorade Texas Football Player of the Year today. That's what happens when you reach that 60-TD mark for a second year in a row, I think.
It's a hard mark to get past. It's staggering, really. But here are the other numbers that won him the award that has previously gone to Texas Tech and the Patriots' Wes WElker, UT's Garrett Gilbert, UNT's Riley Dodge and Arkansas' Ryan Mallett: 262 of 403 attempts for a 65 percent completion percentage and 4,165 passing yards after last week's game against El Paso Chapin.
But the award is also based on performance in the classroom, where apparently Scotty is no slouch, either. His 3.93 GPA is just slightly ahead of where I was in high school (that's a lie).

Great honor, congratulations. I’m looking forward to seeing him in and red and black.
I realized today that we haven’t lost to a non bowl eligible team in 2 plus years (Colorado 2007…yuck). Looking forward to the Alamo Bowl. Last time I was in the Alamodome was when my high school team was in the playoffs. My stat line for that day was DNP-Coach’s decision. Memories…
