Tailgating at the Alamo Bowl

What does Tailgating "cost" in San Antonio? Ive heard there is a charge for tailgating. Is this due to the individual Parties that are thrown or does is cost $ just to enter the tailgate area?

From the FAQ section. I haven’t called them yet.

Can I tailgate in the Alamodome lots?
Tailgating is permitted in Lot B & C of the Alamodome with a valid Alamodome parking pass. Vehicles without an Alamodome parking pass will not be allowed into the parking lot. All parking lots will open at 10 a.m. and remain open 1 hour after the end of the game.

There are currently no Alamodome parking permits available for purchase. If you are interested in a RV/Tailgating package at the Alamodome please email info@alamobowl.com or call 210.704.6666.

— Patrons who purchased 2 or more parking spaces and want them to be contiguous should arrive early. Blocking off or saving parking spaces is not permitted.

— Tailgating is restricted to the space in front or behind your vehicle. Blocking the driving lane is not permitted.

— Roadways, aisles and other parking spaces must be kept free of tailgating equipment to allow for vehicular and pedestrian traffic.

— Glass containers are not permitted.

— Grills with charcoal, wood and propane are permitted.

— A fire extinguisher must accompany each group using a cooking appliance and a person knowledgeable in its operation must constantly attend to the appliance when hot.

— No outside food or beverages allowed inside the Alamodome.

— Seperate containers for hot coals and trash are locaed in Lot B & C.

— Portable restroom facilities are located in Lot B & C.

— Parking lots will be patrolled. All violations are subject to ticketing and removal from the parking lot.

Tailgating

I am going to find out where and how far away we might be able to set up a DTN tailgater. There are several places nearby, but it may take a while to narrow down a good place. More later. My brother (pillflinger) will try to get something going.

nah, make your brother do it all.

there’s a lot off commerce just past the railroat tracks and north of the alamo dome that, as long as it doesn’t rain, seems like a cheap spot to set up a tailgate. I’m just not sure what their tailgating policy is going to wind up being.

stadium tailgating doesn’t sound as bad as the Cowboys. At least they all a proper fuel (wood) for a pit. Of course, you’d have to get a tailgating pass which means I’ll be staying at a close hotel and tailgating on foot.
