Verizon. The best tv, Internet of all time. I actually think I’d choose my next house based on whether I could get verizon in that area. Few weeks ago, my Mom asked what channel the TCU game was on(football) it broke her heart she couldn’t watch it because my neice/ her grand daughter goes to TCU. She was really excited about her grand daughter’s school, which I’m sure she’s paying the 40,000 for was so good this year. TCU missed out on thousands of paying tee shirt fans this year because of bad TV exposure.

Listening on the radio -

TCU is putting it to us. I hope we can snap out of it in the second half.

Oh well

So much for being ranked. Still the same old Tech…screw away a game on the road. Very disheartening. Looks like a 40-point loss shaping up. UGH!

Let's slow down the pessimism

Made a run to cut it to 5. This team is showing some heart, let’s see if they can finish the turn around.

by RAIDERdweb on Dec 8, 2009 7:19 PM CST reply actions

Maybe -

But, Tech has cut a 14 point deficit to 5 at the half, so maybe Tech will wake up and realize they can’t relax in Daniel Meyer – or what they did against Washington will be for nothing. Just listening to it, but it did sound like the Horned Frogs were running out of gass in the last 5 minutes, or so. I will remain hopeful that Tech can carry the momentum over into the second half and put them away early. Just can’t take any team for granted – especially on the road.

Ok, ok.

Maybe. But I’m not holding my breath. Let’s see how the second half goes.

we were ten up on washington at the end of the half and it went to OT. calm down.

by logan5555 on Dec 8, 2009 7:28 PM CST reply actions

stats say difference in the game is free throws made. we won’t shoot that bad from the charity stripe all night long.

Great start to the second half!

Showing some heart and some road savvy here. I like what I’m hearing.

Tech

Has been playing better defense to stop TCU

TCU staying tough

I thought the Horned Frogs would’ve taken the gas pipe by now, but they are staying close – Tech needs to finish

Probably much better

Listening to the TCU feed I’ve had to deal with their biases… haha… Though they have been better than most at hiding the bias. Its the first feed I could find.

Make our free throws and we'll win...

be a great comeback victory on the road if we finish the game.

by RAIDERdweb on Dec 8, 2009 8:22 PM CST reply actions

Tech staying strong through the finish -

Not seeing it, it’s hard to say, but it seemed that Tech’s athleticism prevailed over the team’s poor play – sneaking out of Daniel Myer with a W.

that's actually a comfort to hear...

our teams the last few years couldn’t overcome like that

80-70

After being down 14.

You are as pessimistic of a red raider fan as I am…..I love it.
Nice comeback win, sorry I couldn’t go to cowtown for it.

Nice comeback win.

By looking at the first half stats – it looked like free throws hurt us. Nice to see John seal the game by hitting his at the charity stripe.

Not sure what spurred the come back – but thats a game we do NOT win last year. Look forward to reading the articles tomorrow!

WIN

I was absolutely stupid and wrong. Tech turned it around in the secon half and played tough. Nice game Raiders.

You should keep dogging on the team before every game, its worked well the past 2 games.

i’m a little late, but the mountain network is on 616 with direct tv. for future reference.

by pcrawttu on Dec 8, 2009 8:36 PM CST reply actions

Yeah, I had no idea this channel existed. I was just scrolling through all the channels i never watch, hoping i’d stumble across it and it was there. the announcers and whole station seem pretty amateur, but it was still good to see them on tv.

DirecTV Has A Great Search Feature

that will help avoid missing games they air.

Tech came out after the half with a lot more energy. Towards the end of the first half, they went with a smaller lineup to guard against the 3. They were just more athletic, quicker, getting some good rebounds on offense and defense, and finally started hitting their freethrows. TCU started missing their 3’s and made a couple bad turnovers too.

Great to see Tech come out and turn it around in the second half for their second road win of the season and first team in the country to 9-0.

The Pilkster is usually the most optimistic dude we have

I guess his mojo crept into the Red Raiders. They could sense his pessimism. :)

by Plano Jeff on Dec 8, 2009 9:35 PM CST via mobile reply actions

Some friends and I went to the game and had a great time. There seemed to be about 50% TCU/Tech. I think we yelled over their band as well as that section of snot-nosed kids that were poorly (or un-)supervised. I’ve never had a little kid tell me I should have stayed home between screams of “sucks” at the end of our raider power chants. Parents? Seriously?

I don’t recommend the frog nachos.

Tech got it together with 3 minutes to go in the 1st half. I think it was a TTU timeout and Pat seemed to connect. That continued through the 2nd half. Tech simply made shots (ex: free throws) in the second half that they forced in the 1st. They also didn’t throw the ball away. However, the defense really came through and made TCU look sloppy and outmatched in the 2nd.

D'Walyn Roberts = Modern Tony Battie??

Despite all the negativity I’m hearing about how Tech almost let this game get out of control at half-time. I want to produce one stat that will shock everyone:

D’Walyn Roberts got 19 Rebounds in that game.
I will repeat that.

19 REBOUNDS!

That is 2 rebounds away from making the Top 5 All-Time Single Game Rebounding Record for Texas Tech. Check it out. The record is right here:

REBOUNDS
Reb.Player, Year Opp.
23 Will Flemons, 1990 Houston
21 Rick Bullock, 1974 Arkansas
21 William Johnson, 1974 UT
21 Bob Glover, 1966 Baylor
21 Will Flemons, 1993 Baylor

He’s not a Senior yet for Texas Tech either.
Should we be comparing him to the likes of TTU’s Will Flemons who was a Rebounding Bog Monster?!?!

Either way, 19 Rebounds is impressive. Especially for a road game against a quality opponent like TCU.

by Michaelangelo on Dec 9, 2009 12:56 AM CST reply actions

Great research.

Interesting numbers and Roberts’ improvement is certainly impressive.

bah...

meant to put Will Flemons on the title of the last comment. Not Tony Battie.
Battie was the Leader in Blocking. oops my bad.

Still Roberts was a Bog Monster Rebounding tonight.
He definitely needs to be written somewhere in an article for that performance.
