It's over...
Details at the press conference tonight, but multiple sources are confirming that Texas Tech and Mike Leach agreed to new terms for an extension today. Good news for all Texas Tech fans. From the DMN breaking news...
Now, what will we argue about? : )

Thank you, whoever "you" are
Cooler heads prevailed. And I get to keep all my Double T paraphanelia.
Thank goodness.
I'm glad Myers wasn't in this meeting
I’m sure Leach would only to agree to meet with Hance only….just my thoughts.
I’ll say this…as someone who has been very, very tough on Mike Leach, I am surprised that I feel as relieved as I do that he’s still our coach. I would like to see him alter some things in his strategy and share some focus with the special teams and defense, but I must admit I feel pretty proud that Chancellor Hance and Leach were able to sit down like adults and work this out in…two hours. Amazing what a little face to face can accomplish, isn’t it.

Hey, I appreciate that. I can’t wait to see her decked out in a Scarlet and Black little tot cheerleader outfit!! My wife is insisting on Baylor, but I’ll win that fight.
It's a girl!
Congratulations! Best wishes to your whole family.
Obviously, I like the idea of the cheerleader outfit… >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

This better not be an April Fool's day joke.......
Finally everyone pulls their heads out of their respective asses!
Whew!
JUST EXACTLY WHAT I HAD HOPED WOULD OCCUR!
Now, the team, which was probably already in the know, are sure who their coach will be for whatever number of years stated in said contract, if this is in fact true. After all that has transpired, forgive me if I pull a Mizzou on you and wait until I see it first. Now, let’s play some golf…..er, football……….
TTpilk
You know what would be hilarious? If Tech went 3-9 next season and fired Leach anyway.
Just kidding. Just seeing if I can rile us up anymore.
I’m totally relieved we can put this behind us for a year or two now. Too bad it took all this bad press to get it done, though. When we try to get more national exposure, this is not the best way to do it.
Today might be the best day ever for me!
My boss told me this morning that I’m in line for a promotion, My bank gave me $200 refund, and then, Mike Leach is staying, after I spoke with that same boss about it this morning (he’s UT alum), and we both agreed it looked grim. I couldn’t be happier. Go Tech! I’m gonna renew my alumni membership right now!
¡Viva los Matadores!
Yippeee!!! ARRRRRGGGGGHH
Its about time! Though I enjoyed all the football talk during the offseason….
THANK YOU BABY JESUS!!!!
I am soooooooooooo happy right now!!!!! Hearing that Gerald Myers is retiring would be icing on the cake that is Mike Leach’s extension!
Note That Myers wasn't involved
Hance is now a much better Chancellor than I thought. Myers better thank him for doing his job for him.
By the way considering how many cars I remember underwater at the Lubbock mall years ago. I think water drainage still might be the top story in Lubbock

He let it drag on too long......
but Hance took care of it in the end. Pressure was really mounting, and I think it was going to get ugly for Tech admin in general.
Now what was I saying…..oh yeah, can we finally get a damn defense that we can count on in the big game? Can Ruff make some in-game changes, and be more aggressive in his schemes?
Damn that felt good.

Hance
I think Hance has been eager to meet face to face with Leach. But the parties involved didn’t allow that to happen – until now. Can you imagine what could have happened without him?
Amazing...
Just to punctuate how childish this has been and how simplistic this outcome could have been (like you don’t know that already)…
I have been tracking this for months, but more closely this week as things have heated up and my schedule actually allowed me to. I’m in the airport in Chicago this afternoon and the last thing I hear as I’m getting on the plane is that Leach has been granted permission to attend the BOR open meeting. So I’m thinking “this is going to be really good.” When my plane lands in Houston just under three hours later everything is done.
Amazing…anticlimactic…and the right outcome in my opinion.
Time to move on to the next thing…
Being a Tech fan is certainly never dull.
Sounds like
good ol’ West Texas manners prevailed yet again!

Me too!
What a relief! Just placed my season ticket renewal for the most exciting football in Texas! Wreck’em Tech!
Finally!
I just couldn’t imagine not being a Red Pirate! Time for Myer’s to sail off into the sunset!
Wreck’em Tech Leach is staying
Strive for honor evermore...
Long live the matadors. Wreck em Tech!
I agree.
People can legitimately question a person’s job and be critical of their employment, but some of the enthusiasm I see for getting Gerald Myers fired borders on or surpasses what I consider good taste. Wanting what is best for the school or willing ill and harm on an individual can and should be two very distinct things.
(For the record, I do not feel strongly one way or the other about Gerald Myers’ employment. I simply do not know enough about it, have not examined the full record of his career enough to draw an informed opinion.)

I though
Myers seemed pretty happy at the press conference which apparently puts me in the minority. He seemed genuine and happy to have this process over with
