Hance Speaks
This is from Kent Hance last night and I think it sums up the feeling of a lot of Raider Nation faithful at this point.
"Hance told The A-J on Friday that Leach’s interest in other jobs led the university to consider some of the new elements.
“I like Mike and I want him to be our coach, but I don’t want his agents shopping him around every year. I found it outrageous that I saw in the newspaper my football coach was interviewing for other jobs. We expect him to notify us. We want loyalty,” Hance said.
On the guarantee and buyout money, Hance said, “If it’s good for one, it’s good for the other. His agents say Mack Brown and Bob Stoops don’t have a buyout provision, and I told them when Mike wins a national championship I’ll take the buyout provision out.” "
Seems pretty logical and fair to this set of ears.
This is a FanPost and does not necessarily reflect the views of Double-T Nation's writers or editors. It does reflect the views of this particular fan though, which is as important as the views of Double-T Nation's writers or editors.

More than Fair!
Mike is wanting all the luxuries that Mack Brown and Bob Stoops have… Well in order to get that you have to do things like not getting 70 run up on you when you are in a BCS race, oh and not dropping what should have been a solid bowl win in horrible fashion.
I am with Hance here, I like Mike allot, and appreciate everything he has done for Texas Tech Football, but if he can’t agree to at least be loyal and not look for jobs every year then we just need to move on.
Do any of you guys,
tell your current boss that you are interested in interviewing for a better job?
Is that ever a good idea?
I am not defending the Captain, just asking the question.
His agents say Mack Brown and Bob Stoops don’t have a buyout provision, and I told them when Mike wins a national championship I’ll take the buyout provision out." "
I would bet my baby’s underwear that this pure political spin put out by Hance to boost his image in the public’s eyes.
Man I tell you what, this is better than watching to big boobed chicks fight at the lake on the 4th of July!
VIVA LA FIGA!
Have you ever met Hance, personally? This quote isn’t political, just the way he is and the way he looks at things. He’s not going to give you something hoping you earn it; he’s going to give you what you deserve with the opportunity to make more if you earn it. There is absolutely nothing unreasonable about it.
As far as not wanting Leach to look around, there’s a difference between a company losing one employee to looking around and a university losing its football coach. And when an employee quits, two weeks notice is expected at the least. In no way is wanting to be told your coach is looking around outrageous.
After all is said and done, more is said than done.
I did too
I am a college faculty and in academic jobs, specifically among faculty and administrators (I guess coaching or athletics also fall under this) it is not uncommon to inform your boss before you go looking for another job. The reason this is so is because it’s a fairly small world and the recruiting process in academic institutions is a long painful process. Nobody wants to go through it. So, in most cases the college or the university tries to use this as a leverage to work through their budgets and board of regents to better their offer and prevent their employee or associate from looking around. Therefore I don’t think it’s very unreasonable for Tech to ask this.

In my blue collar world
Tell your boss your looking and he will make it easy for you take that new job.
Two weeks notice is always nice on both sides just to not burn bridges, it seems to me that collage coaches always burn their bridges.
I don’t remember Kent Hance calling, to tell us he was switching parties back in 1985.
No I never met Kent Hance other than shaking his hand a election event.
He is a Lawyer, a Lobbyist, a former US Representative and a Chancellor.
His life is political, he thinks politically or he would not be where he is today.
VIVA LA FIGA!
Myers and Hance need to begin to look for a replacement. Coach Leach has shown his true colors in that he feels that Tech is a place to polish and enhance his coaching resume’ and not as we all want to believe, a great place to build a BCS championship program. He has made this clear the last few years by applying for every coaching job that appeared more lucrative and even some that didn’t. The way I see it we have two years to develop a short list of coaching candidates. We need to prepare for the inevitable.
No respect from Leach's agents
Leach’s agents have acted like they were dealing with yocal hicks this whole time. I have allot of respect for Hance, he has Tech’s best intentions in mind here and will not do us wrong. When the bottom of this situation eventually falls out, I hope Leach learns to get some better representation.
