Captain Leach to Offer Clinic to NFL Coaches
The man just gives and gives.
In light of quarterback Graham Harrell's recent criticisms of his supposed inability to take a snap under center, Captain Mike Leach has offered a clinic to NFL coaches who cannot seem to teach this vital NFL skill. I'll let the Captain take it from here:
"I can do that," Leach said of teaching a quarterback to drop back. "I only need a three-hour window. I'll have a great clinic for all the NFL coaches who are so horrible that they can't teach a guy to take a snap under center and go backwards."
But it doesn't stop there, Leach thinks that NFL coaches that cannot teach this highly controversial skill should be terminated.
"You bring up easily the most pitiful NFL cop-out of all," Leach said in a telephone interview. "And you can send that message to the whole NFL. Any coach who has ever said or uttered those words or considers that a concern, here's my message for them: How could you possibly look yourself in the mirror and consider yourself an NFL coach and not be able to teach a guy to run back three steps, five steps and seven steps? I can teach a child that! "Any coach in the NFL who can't do that ought to be fired!"
There it is, it's that easy. I'm sure that NFL coaches will be booking flights shortly, just keep in mind that Texas Tech's spring practice starts next week so you may have to work around the Captain's schedule.

He's right
That’s the lamest excuse ever by NFL coaches. Leave it to Mike to point this out. I love it!!!
Agreed
It’s about time somebody made light of this. The arguement is stupid that a QB that doesn’t line up under center can’t play in the NFL. Good coaching can get a player where he needs to be but some coaches like the excuses that go with a position. Leach is gem in the fact he doesn’t mind making statements like this. Gotta love it.
The remarks on Griffin's blog
really dig at Leach. I tried to set them straight, though. No Tech QB from Leach’s years there have really been provided an equal opportunity to succeed, but I think Harrell has a good chance to change the NFL attitudes. He has much better abilities than anyone is giving him credit for having. I would be willing to bet that none of the other draftees are able to make the same quick reads Harrell makes and be able to successfully move the team as well as he should be able to do, like he has his whole career. While he may not be perfect, he more than makes up for any drawbacks with his uncanny way of reading the defenses and making the right decision to attack, quickly and accurately. I am anxious to see him succeed where others have said he will fail.
