I read the article
as well as the replies. I did not comment because the site has way too many blockheads chiming in to be taken seriously. I think the Cap’n is right: Harrell could really be the best QB available. There is no questioning his ability to read defenses, making quick decisions and accurately attacking them. I don’t know why his arm strength is questioned when he constantly made some of the toughest throws when he had to—just ask UT. No QB is perfect, but Harrell has more important good qualities than any other QB in the draft. He could be put into any pro offense and do just as well as the person he replaced, including either Manning, Rothlisburger, Brady, Romo or Brees. He would need to practice with the starters to get used to their tendencies, just as the others do, but he could do it because of his great football IQ. Maybe the most important attribute: he stays out of trouble and is a great roll model for all fans and their children.

Pro scouts make more misses than hits with their ‘intelligent’ analysis of each player in the draft. If Harrell is provided a REAL tryout to become a starter in the NFL, he should be able to have a really good career. Because of the style of play prevalent in the NFL, he will never match what he accomplished in college, but because of his leadership and IQ,he will succeed for some time at that level.

This is the most awesome statement to “draft experts” ever. It’s things like this that make me overjoyed that Mike Leach is still our coach:
“I’ve got four defensive ends with stronger arms who want to play quarterback. If they’re going to put all their eggs in the arm-strength basket, they ought to draft one of my defensive ends.”
