This is the first football offseason that I have actually paid attention.
I never was much on paying attention to recruiting and offseason stuff......but now I cant stop reading about this football team. I have always been a hardcore fan. But now it's crazy. It's like football 365 days a year. It feels good not to be the "almost there" team anymore as far as winning big games. Now if we can only get past Oklahoma. I don't see this as a rebuilding year. There is a lot of talent on this team.
Wreck'em!!!

Shared excitement...
You are sharing the same excitement that many other Tech fans are showing. I really feel that Seth C. has helped to up the excitement level by offering this blog for us all to catch up to and to add to the goings-on at Tech in all sports. As a result, we are “seeing” a greater amount of interest being generated and exhibited. But, all things being said, this past year has caused a height of excitement from Tech’s fan base that has not been evident since the 70’s, at least, from what I have observed. Because of the direction this team is headed with its improvement in original talent level athletes being signed and production on the field, the anticipation of greater things happening soon is overwhelming. You, I and many, many other fans are genuinely excited to be Red Raider & DTN fans. GO TECH!
TTpilk
+1 to Virtua and Pilk. I’ve always liked to think I was hard core, but now I see how casual a fan/alum I actually was. Thing is, when you get so emotionally invested, it hurts so much more when we lose. That’s why I kind of kept my distance with basketball this year. After Football season, I just didn’t have anymore to give and I knew it was going to be a tough row to hoe for the round ball team.
The landscape has changed..
for Tech. Now we have a reason to be excited and amped up about upcoming seasons. Crabtree and Harrell along with others from last season really made Tech more than just another Big 12 team. Now we are contenders and teams like UT and OU have to take us serious. Mike Leach has made all the difference in our success. I really hope all red raiders start to realize his value to our team and team’s success. Who would have thought that we would be in the conversation for a NC last season. Times have changed and Tech will continue to improve. Look at our recruiting already. I’m ready for next season and yes I do think that Tech can win in Austin with Capt. Leach. Imagine the headlines after that victory. Stay positive raiders!!!
Daily dose
DTN is like a daily dose of adrenaline that I need.I feel like I am right there on the 50 yard line still, and bringing everything I have.It makes me feel like I can be so personable and get to know each player and coach on a personal basis.I don’t see how Seth does it with all the great stuff that we see and read.
What can we do over the summer? I would like to see a full page add in the LAJ about this site.Get more people involved.Being self employed I can turn on the puter and spend an hour or so with DTN in the mornings. That is something I have never done.So DTN has brought a renewed excitement to what the team(and) I mean all teams of Texas Tech are doing..
I have a question? Is there anyway that DTN could have a booth in Raider Alley?I am sure we could have volunteers to work the tent and I would say I am pretty good chef myself. It would be cool to have food named after the players, coaches etc…“The Leach Dog” or the" Carter Monster" sandwich.Hope you all don’t think this is stupid but it would be so neat for DTN’S to meet before the games.Maybe I have missed it but who pays for this site?If so proceeds could help pay for the site and how bout tee shirts with DTN logo on the sleeve?
I know this all sounds wishful thinking but,hey that is what grows and helps teams..(fans who support). To all my DTN brethren out there(even the ones I disagree with sometimes)..GUNS UP…
Sounds like a great idea.
I agree and as a season ticket holder I tailgate for most home games. It would be great to hook up with all the great folks that contribute to this site. I am also self employed and typically make it a routine to my daily agenda visiting this site throughout the day. Maybe Seth can build off your idea if enough of us support it. I would suggest you start a post for it. Good idea slycanyon.
I Have Not Enjoyed Being a Raider Fan This Much Since the 70's
As much fun as it was in the 70’s, it’s better now. My job has me traveling across the country. During my travels, I have to pinch myself when I hear others talk about the Raiders. I was in New York during 39-33 (that has a certain ring to it). I can tell you that sports fans in New York are now familiar with the Raiders. Seeing a full page spread about Leach and Texas Tech in the New York Times does the heart good.
We have a following out there!
Seth, I can’t tell you how much I appreciate the countless hours you spend on this superb site. So, thank you again.
The current recruiting i has me excited. Defense – Special Teams – It’s gaining momentum.
OK Bennie … get em ready for Fall!
I'd love to do all of this
and meet everyone. I think if we can have a designated place to tailgate, that would be awesome. If someone can help organize this as we get closer to the season that would be awesome. I have no idea if I could get a booth at RaiderAlley, but surely there’s someone out there that tailgates and can help DTN out with this project. If there’s anyone that has a spot, shoot me an email (doubletnation@gmail.com) and we’ll try and to pick a game and get this going.
Thanks everyone for the kind words and I’m glad that DTN is your place to check out all things Texas Tech.
Can’t wait for 2009 football!
Go Raiders . . .
