Any of you fellow urban dwellers notice more Tech logos on cars?
I always notice if cars on the freeways and tollways up here in DFW have a little chrome Double T, aTm, or Longhorn. This is a trend I'm seeing just in the past few years as before, there were only window stickers, and I'm guessing some people with nice cars didn't want stickers on their cars and the new chrome logos are a little more classy. Anyway, I'm wondering if it's just me, or if you fellow DTNers are noticing more TECH emblems lately. I've only been in North Texas for 3 years, so sometimes when I'm in traffic from say Ft. Worth up 121 to Plano, I'll keep a mental tally of the three logos mentioned above and it's usually about a 2:3:4 ratio for TTU, TAMU, UT. Further, if there is indeed an upward trend, are the actual alums we have just more proud because of recent success in football? Or, are we getting "fans" who are sporting the logo. These are the trivial things that float through my mind and I have this kind of time on a random Thursday at my office. Houston, Austin, SA, and EP Raiders please chime in. It's 4 months from September and my Rangers are already below 500. Surely we can chat about this slight tangent.
This is a FanPost and does not necessarily reflect the views of Double-T Nation's writers or editors. It does reflect the views of this particular fan though, which is as important as the views of Double-T Nation's writers or editors.

More Double T's
I have always seen a number of Tech emblems on autos here in Austin. They can’t compete with the ATM and UT logos, but they are easily the 3rd most emblems around. I don’t think people are sporting them more because of the football and basketball exposure, but because there are just more people here who graduated from Tech. Very nice to see, I might add. And when I do see them, I will often hold up the “Gun” salute. “GO TECH!”

I disagree, I’d say it’s more 2:1:5 TTU:A&M:UT in Austin. I see a lot more TTU logos/car stickers/whatever than A&M and I pay attention to this stuff.
Now houses that i’ve seen marked with a college affiliation have been A&M and UT only (and a lot more A&M than you’d think)

We proudly fly our Tech flag in the flower bed and fly a BIG one on a tree on CFB Saturdays.

And the stores
are flowing over with orange, with atm distant second. You can probably find as many Notre Dame or Florida clothes than Tech.

Stores
Recently I have started to see more Tech memorabilia around town, there is obviously more Texas stuff because of the shear amount of money they spend on promoting themselves. I wish Tech had that kind of money, but sadly they wont until they make Tier 1 status. I’ve had to go out to “Sam Moon” with my fiance on several occasions for her to pick up stuff for her bridesmaids, and surprisingly the have a vast selection of rather random Tech stuff to choose from, from a Kids book about the masked rider, to a Texas Tech Scoreboard Clock, I felt like a kid in a candy store when trying to pick out somethings!

Sam Moons is a brutal place for a man
Those women can be mean as hell when fighting for purses. The time I had to go, I just stood in the corner and tried not to get in their way. Now that there’s one in Plano, might not be as bad and crowded as was back then.

I live in Fort Worth, and yes, I have seen more over the past couple of years. However, in regards to the A&M and UT logos, you have to remember that anyone (including non-grads) can purchase those at gas stations, Wal-Mart, Target, etc. The Tech emblems are harder to come by. I would assume that there is a much larger group of people sporting A&M and UT emblems that would be considered the common fan, and not an acutal grad. This would also explain the decrease in A&M emblem sightings.

In Plano it's all Tech
I can honestly say I think Plano has the vast majority of these chrome emblems. My truck along with the wife’s mini van both have them. Of course she has her BU on it as well. I do see the longhorn frequently but rarely see A&M. I do think the solid T’s look much better than the newer 3D T’s.
In either case it’s great to see Tech dominating one of DFW’s finer cities to live in.

Yep
I’m a student at Tech right now and I graduated from Plano West. I agree with you…I see a LOT of Tech emblems and quite a few UT ones, but only the occasional A&M one. There are lots of alumni in the metroplex…probably more than most people would expect.

I see a ton of TU stickers in the DFW area
TU is the default team for anyone who didnt go to college around here .
All they have to do is go to Walmart and buy a 10dollar TU t-shirt and then they claim the bleed orange…….
sad but true

I caught the humor
Have a Juris Doctor from the real TU. I try not to be an aggie when referring to the whorns as well.

Around Ft. Worth and Dallas
My buddy and I were just talking about this the other day, currently I live in the Fort Worth area, I drive to UTA everyday for Grad school and last spring I drove to Dallas everyday for an Internshisp (i.e. I spend quite a lot of time on the road), and I would definitely say that I see more TTU emblems, alumni stickers, or just plain Double T stickers, than I see of UT or A&M; He agreed. The only one that competes with TTU in Fort Worth, that I have seen, has been TCU stickers, and that’s by the Ft. Worth Homers. I recently “upgraded” my sticker from the Double T just, to the TTU Alumni Sticker. Also, I love being able to drive around town and see the big Billboards that Tech has been putting up!

I think
Its just a question of pride and simply more people have it now due to our exposure. I, on the other hand, have ALWAYS sported the Tex Dept of Transportation College Vanity plates with the red Double T right on the license plate.
Just yesterday I noticed a ford pickup with a big double t sticker in the rear window…as I squinted to make out the “college” he went to, I could see it said Architecture and sure enough it was my old college roommate. never would have seen him were it not for the sticker now on his truck that I know was not there since we graduated.

See a lot of them, but always have in North Texas. I’m not seeing more, but then again, I don’t really notice them that much since every 4th or 5th car has one. Which is nice.

I see a fair share in Phoenix
You can even buy Texas Tech caps in a couple of Malls in Phoenix!

Phoenix
I wonder, how many out there from across the country, maybe the world, are Tech fans, and how many actually attended? I grew up in Lubbock, attended Tech for 5 years (1977-1982) while working at Litton, and now have been in Austin (shudder, vomit) since 1983. Maybe Seth could create a sidebar or something for this. It could be a lot of fun to see all this along with the sports stuff, too.

I like the Sidebar Idea
I’ve been telling folks about this site everywhere I go. There are two “watering holes” in the Phoenix area where Red Raider fans gather to watch televised games – two because one was not big enough this last year!

More Double Ts in the Permian Basin
With two active kids, I’ve attended more than my fair share of soccer, volleyball, basketball games in the Midland/Odessa area and it seems that more and more kids have on Tech gear (vs UT) than I have noticed in the past.

Double T in San Diego
I have been surprised to run into and meet several people with Tech gear over the last year in Southern Cal
