DTN's Best of Lubbock // Reader Submissions for Best Italian Food

DTN's Best of Lubbock
I have no idea how well this is going to go over, but the point of all of this is to get it straight from you guys as to the Best of Lubbock. This will serve as a guide to Big 12 fans who visit Lubbock. We'll have one each week, with the first part of the week being reader submissions and at the end of the week, I'll compile the most talked about suggestions and make a poll.
A couple of ground rules. The submissions must NOT be on this list of national chain restaurants or this list of fast food restaurants. If given enough time during the off-season, we'll have a battle of the chain restaurant. I know that everyone may not agree with this decision, but I would think that the point of this is that you know what kind of steak you're going to get at Outback Steakhouse, but you need some one from Lubbock to tell you about the steak at Cagle Steaks and whether it's worth your time. If there's enough protest over excluding one or another, then I'll make an exception.
DTN Reader Submissions: Best Italian Food
So let's hear from you, where's the best place to get Italian food in Lubbock? This includes pizza or any other Italian eateries. The poll will be submitted on Friday.

Orlando's
but to add some trivia….I dont know this from experience as it was before my time. Orlando’s started as a pizza joint back in the 50’s. It was called Luna Pizza.

Luna Pizza
was based in New Mexico, never in Lubbock. I’ve worked at Orlando’s (on Indiana and the loop) for the past few years during school. See HERE for more info.
i remember a sign at the original location (Ave Q was it?) referring to it. So i guess i dont remember it exactly. Its been 20 yrs

One Guys From Italy
the one located on 50th St has a more expanded menu and is pretty good as well…tough call between OGFI and Orlandos
Stella's
I ate at Stella’s a couple times when some accounting firms were out there recruiting, and I’ve gotta say, I really enjoyed their food! All of it, from the delicious appetizers to the gluttonous desserts. I definitely recommend it to anyone that is going to visit Lubbock, or that lives in Lubbock but has not yet eaten one of their flavor-filled meals. Plus there is a nice ambiance in the restaurant as well, they have had live music every time that I had gone.
I don’t think a lot of people have eaten there, so I am posting the link to their site, it’s off of 50th. It’s so under the Radar that it doesn’t even come up when you search for Italian food in Lubbock on Google.
Accounting firms...
When did you go through recruitment? I went through Spring of 2008 and just finished my internship with Deloitte in London.
Recruitment
I went through Spring of ‘07, I interned with KPMG. We had a couple dinners there, and one of the firms rented out the backroom (might have been KPMG, can’t recall). It was a fun time, the one that chose to eat there attempting to get to know their applicants, may have been Protiviti, consulting not accounting, didn’t really think that one through, because although the atmosphere was great it wasn’t conducive to trying to hold a down table conversation, i.e. 8 or more people trying to all talk over live music.
Ummm
I just now realized that I suggested Stella’s right after you did. I’m an idiot.

I think I can honestly say that besides the Olive Garden (which opened while I was at Tech), I don’t believe I ever ate at an Italian themed restaurant.
Although I usually only ate
at OGFI or Orlando’s while at TT, I’m surprised and shocked that these are the only two Italian places in Lubbock. I did find another place, Stella’s Deli Pizza, anyone ever eat there?

My vote
Stella’s is the better atmosphere and lets just say I am battin 1.000 when taking dates there.
But as for best bang for your buck, Orlando’s hands down…Lasagna dinner FTW
