Mr Harrell in the UFL?

Not much info here but it sounds interesting.

I searched the TV stations web site but did not come up with any thing.

I don't care to belong to a club that accepts people like me as members.

A man's only as old as the woman he feels.

Wives are people who feel they don't dance enough

and last but not least

Women should be obscene and not heard

Yeah, the quote is not relevant to the subject of this post as far as I can tell. Maybe someone can fill us in.

You win

Those are my principles, and if you don’t like them… well, I have others.

Wow

“Women should be obscene and not heard”

Very degrading. Distasteful as well, I might add.

A little late

to give Groucho any flak.

Wow

Groucho sure is fortunate he doesn’t live in the pc world of today…

But then again, as he said himself:
“I don’t care to belong to a club that accepts people like me as members.”

To the link

I think this would be a bad move for Harrell. IMO, I think Harrell should just be patient. An injury is going to happen during training camps and I’m hoping that Harrell gets a break there. Of course, I’m sure he’s thinking that he needs to stay in the game, but this just seems like a flimsy league.

Agreed

And not just injuries to NFL players. Why risk injury in a non-league, so far, and slow or prevent your ability to catch on with an NFL team? His best option, other than signing on with an NFL team, would be the CFL. While not top-flight, it offers an opportunity to showcase his abilities better than any other UN-NFL league. That is ONLY if he cannot sign on with an NFL team. I feel it is still a possibility because I think there are several QB’s now on the NFL rosters that Harrell could replace and improve the team. It definitely requires him to be cognizant of his shortcomings, whatever those shortcomings are, and address those and improve those areas to have a better chance of sticking in the NFL. I think many are pulling for him to succeed because he really has the ability to be a good NFL quarterback. Getting in a position to showcase himself in a better way than he has ever done before is paramount to his succeeding. I continue to be one of his supporters, regardless of what he accomplishes in life, just because he is a really good and honest person. Somehow, that should count.

Show him the money.

Just to play the devil’s advocate.

The UFL seems to have a sound business plan (if what Wikipedia list is correct).
If the capital they have in place is solid, and young MR. Harrell can get a deal with cash in the bank, then I think it should be given a look.

The UFL has a proposed structure by which each team will operate. It includes a player salary cap range of $12-20 million per team with a staff salary cap of $3 million per team. They hope to be paying at least 10 players on each roster in excess of $1 million.29 In the initial truncated 6 week season, the 4 teams will have a total of $16 million in labor costs, reflecting the shorter season.12

A rookie in the NFL makes about $280,000 while a practice team member makes about $90,000 with no union benefits.

While the league has no official connection with the National Football League, both NFL commissioner Roger Goodell and UFL commissioner Michael L. Huyghue have indicated that it may eventually become a minor, or “developmental”, league for the NFL.89

Once again I do not know how much of this statement will ever develop, but the fact that the NFL is talking with these people say something.

There should be lots press coverage for this up coming season, and the level of play should be a step up from D-I. Lots of IFs and SHOULDS but if you can make twice the money playing against quality players, with NFL quality coaching, on TV. Why not develop you game here instead of in a #3 back up position?

By the way Graoucho Marx was funny, Karl Marx was degrading and distasteful.

Yeah I think its his best option,,,

so he’s gonna give it a chance. Any other type of job at this point would be just devastating in my opinion. Going from one of the best QBs in college football, in alot of people’s minds (and that would include me), to having to settle for whatever his degree can get him, would just really really suck.

If only...

If only being a good and honest person did count. Unfortunately, all we ever hear about in the NFL is how pac-man or Vick or Tank Johnson or all these other guys claim they have changed only to mess up again after being reinstated. If it’s not legal trouble they are getting in, you have guys like Chad “ocho cinco” who are beyond self-centered that get all the attention.

there are almost 1,700 players on the 53-man rosters of the NFL. We hear about the same 8-10 bad eggs all the time. There are, fortunately, many more good guys than bad in the league.

I see no reason he can’t get a job like the other 5,000 kids who just graduated. I’m sure there are plenty of people out there willing to give him a good job and he’s smart and will do well with whatever profession he chooses. JMHO
