The Texas Tech track program had some ups and downs and a rain delay on the first day of the NCAA Outdoor Championships but did qualify four student-athletes to the next round at John McDonnell Field.

Gilbert Limo ran a personal-best in the 3000M steeple chase with an 8:41.85. His time is a little over one second off the school record. He will run the finals and have an opportunity to earn his first All-American honor of his career on Friday.

Asia Diaz ran her a personal-best of 2:05.60 to advance to the semi-finals of the women's 800M. The senior ran the 14th fastest time of the meet as 13 student-athletes ran a 2:05 and her time is less than one second off the school record.

Gil Roberts ran the third-fastest qualifying time in the 400M. The three-time All-American's time of 45.93 puts him in the semi-finals on Friday.

Terra Evans advanced to the semi-finals of the 100M with a time of11.45. She turned around a few hours later and ran an 11.98 in the semi-finals, but didn't advance to the finals.
