DTN's Community Projections

Brian Duncan

#57 / Linebacker / Texas Tech Red Raiders

6-1

238

sophomore

The Facts:

A very impressive year from Brian Duncan, who led the team with 94 tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss, and 0.5 sacks for the year.

What I Think:

At the middle linebacker spot, you're  not expecting a ton of tackles behind the line of scrimmage, and if nothing else, Duncan passes the eye-test.  Duncan is fundamentally sound and he passes the eye-test for me personally.  In fact, with improved line play, I could see Duncan improve on his 94 tackles, with the hope that he's free to make plays at the line.

Duncan

Is a very solid MLB. As a matter of fact, our 1st team LB’s are top notch. If Duncan is the leader he should be, this unit will thrive. Also, he gained a large amount of experience, savvy and know-how by starting most of the games lasy year. He knows the system, players, coaches and, very importantly, what to expect from most of the teams Tech will face this year. With Fehoko behind him, this should be our main strength on defense, solid throughout the season.

good chance he's 1st team All Big12 this year

B Duncan just might be an All Big12 leader in the LB position. He’s up against Joe Pawelek (Baylor) Lemon from OSU and the kid from OU (didn’t research the name). He may have a stellar season due to two factors – D line play – they must strip blockers and stuff the rushing holes at the line . 2nd factor he’s being pushed by S.Fehoko.

I think Duncan’s going to see a lot more plays coming his way (up the middle by the offense). I anticipate that we will be using our DEs to contain rather than apply pressure, which should force the run more towards the center of the field. Assuming we can actually execute containment.
