NY Times Preseason Article (w/shoutout to DTN!)
The NY Times Quad blog just posted their preview for this year's Tech team.
http://thequad.blogs.nytimes.com/2009/08/03/the-quad-countdown-no-29-texas-tech/
Highlights: Tech has thrown for 25.4 miles of passing yardage.
Low Point: "If Tech can hang with the Longhorns – a win is out of the question..." Obviously I don't agree with that; I think we've proven that, while we may be down at times, we are never out.
Overall a really interesting, in-depth read. Oh and catch the DTN shoutout at the end!

Nice writeup
This is about the same thing everyone else is saying. I do think, however, that he shows more knowledge than most and this gives Tech a decent chance to match last year, though he still feels Tech will probably finish with 8 or 9 wins. I certainly don’t see Tech losing to Baylor. They have a tough conference slate, but should be capable of winning at least 5 of their 8 conference games, added to 4 non-conference wins (Houston cannot keep up to or hold down Tech) the Raiders should have a minimum of 9 wins, with 10 very possible. I would sure like to be surprised and see them win everything this year, ending up with a 14-0 record. Now, wouldn’t that be something?

Competition Seth you dont have any..
No not much competition in Raider watching Seth. Based on the current state of play its unlikely anyone is going to challenge you. Your content is first rate. The East coast advertising was cool. Should pull in a few more loyal bloggers around the country. Thought the article was fair, in fact more detailed than most mainstreamers. Just so we say it I can agree that "how " the Texas game is played factors in a large way how the season goes. All these guys keep sliding back to the bad loss theory. The thing is most can agree that those 4 x swing games @ Houston, @ Nebraska, @ OSU and vs. Baylor are the key to the season. Not more important but they punctuate the "the story line as to why the raiders won’t be better than 4th in the Big 12 South" ( add hand wringing and muttering for emphasis). UH – Case Keenum will keep them in the game thru 3 quarters. But the UH Dline wont halt the Raider running attack. Tech pulls away. Nebraska Pelini has 2 x problems a new QB and he’s lite on O- linemen. NE shows the same game plan as last year. Raider win it with Special teams play – A blocked a FG or a dynamite return. The Cowboys can’t field anymore of a dominating defense than we can. Better Okie lite defense but not overwhelming. So another shoot out decided by whoever makes a late mistake. The better deep ball win this one for the Raiders. Baylor is one injury from disaster. They need O linemen now. We should all like the Canadian Fire fighter dude. Kind of like R. Reeds story last year. But Griffin cannot carry the entire tem into Bowl eligibility. The defenders are good at LB and Safety, the new 300 plus lb. Def.tackle will shine. But in late November they don’t out score a comfortable Potts and dominating Batch show in Jerry world. BTW our D-line rotation will be hitting on all cylinders as well. So a new thread on these swing games should be launched. What say you Seth?
