Thought some of you guys might get a kick out of this since we are playing the cougars Saturday. I just hope these kind of cougars don't distract any of the Tech players. God only knows what kind of people will show up at a U of H football game, and they do serve beer at the stadium so I guess if you are going to the game enjoy and watch out for cougars. I thought

There is a law here in Texas that Alcohol can not be sold within 1000 feet of a School unless they have a waver permit from the Texas Alcoholic Beverage commission.

Unless I am mistaken, U of H cannot sell at the games. No one can in Texas to college level games. But Pros can sell all they want even when college and pros use same facilities.

Cotton bowl musn’t be within 1000 feet of a school then.

Cotton Bowl

is not part of any University. Its an independent venue and part of the State Fair.

Thus does not apply under the law. The law states 1000 feet of a university. I know that there are plenty of bars and stuff that sell everywhere across the street from main stadiums. But they are all given a waiver from the TABC. In Lubbock right now, some stores can now sell beer while a few are still waiting on their waiver because they are next to a school. United Supermarkets has a couple of stores that will not sell when other do because of this issue.

Then surely...

beer will be sold at the Baylor game right? Along with 90 dollar pizzas.

I have also always hated

That the state can do stuff when others can not. Or Cities can do stuff when everyone else can.

Example. City of Lubbock can sell beer if they want in a school parking lot. Simply because they are immune from the law and according to the way our laws are set up and according to the Attorney General, Cities and States can only be dealt with through elections to bring equality and justice where it does not exist.

So I guess Tech

Could Sell beer because they are a state school.

I drank like a fish

At the Cougar Game this past weekend. And it was on campus. The stadium is owned by the city, so they can do it. The smallest stadium i have ever been to. Reminded me of my old highschool stadium.
