re: First and Last Crabtree story I will post....

Good read--I found it somewhat ironic that Leach chimed in at the end of the article. As bad as that went, I still think Crab signs with the Niners and beomes that next great receiver.

There is no boubt about Crabtree's abilities on the field.
Unfortunately, the way this ‘bargaining’ is going, he could very well be completely left out. Should he continue to hold out and miss this whole season, there is no guarantee he will be chosen in next year’s draft, or ever. The article says he makes the decisions and nobody else. Well, then the article quotes him as saying he is not concerned about the negotiations, just about keeping in shape so that when he does sign he can be ready to immediately play. Sorry, Crabs, it doesn’t work that way, at least not for rookies. Michael Crabtree, as talented a football player as he is, may never have a chance to prove how good he can be. While I would like to see him sign and wind up having a Pro Bowl season, I am so disappointed that he IS allowing someone else to defeat his career before it even gets started…His own agent and family. Sad.

I’ve lost interest in this guy and his story…and that takes a lot given how I love a good controversy. Glad he was good at Tech and helped us over a hump last year, but really, he’s not on our team anymore. I don’t think his current actions are a reflection of Tech and most people on the outside probably don’t associate the two.
Good luck, Mr. Crabtree, but here’s one guy who doesn’t really care what you’ll do with the rest of your life.
Totally agree....
we should all let it go at this point. He’s made a huge mistake that will probably damage if not ruin his career but we need to focus on Tech and the great players we have now. We will always have the memories of crabs and what he did for Tech. Time to move on fellow Raiders!
Dan Patrick's Line of the Week in this week's Sports Illustrated:
When I asked Leach if he advised Crabtree, he said,
“If he followed my advice, he’d still be at Texas Tech.”
Hope he ends up being a success after all this blows over
because if he’s not there’s that whole matter of him not getting (or really even getting close to) a degree.
