Around SBN: Explaining Jeremy Lin's Early, Surprising Success

Chat: Chat with Bruce Feldman - SportsNation - ESPN

Roger (TX) Is Texas Tech really that down this year? Bruce (3:18 PM) No, I don't think so. I saw them last week and they have a lot of talent and QB Taylor Potts will have a big year. Ultimately I think they're a year away from winning the Big 12 South in 2010 because UT, OU and OK St will all have major holes to fill.

2010.

After all is said and done, more is said than done.

Almost like a nice way of saying we come in a strong 4th in the B-12 south. Just like they all say. OTOH, he also predicted Blount would lead Oregon to a win last night.

He was right.

I saw the footage. It was Blount in round one by knockout.

Go register. Or else.

ohhhhh, BURN!! But seriously, why is always “next year”?

by KWashburn on Sep 4, 2009 10:12 AM CDT up reply actions

Oregon's offense may have some kinks to work out

But Blount’s right jab was in mid-season form last night

Until Tech can take and maintain national attention from the Big Boys it will always be ‘next year’.

I am upset with the national media not even giving a sniff our way this year. If we can upset TU in two weeks, they’ll be back on the bandwagon. Two 11 win seasons in a row might make even ESPN take notice!

Right now, though, I am waiting and noting all the oversites until the band wagoners jump on. Then it’ll be great to make them sit in the back with all the other tea sips!!!

the thing that kills me about the media...

All I have heard about USC, LSU, Georgia and hell even Boise State is this ‘they lost a lot, but we know they will be able to reload’

and yet the knock on Tech in the mainstream media is that we lost Graham and Crab and will not be able to replace them…while I agree it may be a long time that we see a talent like Crab, but are you kidding me? Does the media have no long term memory?

Last time we replaced a 3 year starter, our QB threw for the most yards ever in one season and the second most TDs in a season…IN NCAA HISTORY

Season after that, replaced QB, beat #4 Cal in the the Holiday Bowl
Season after that, replaced QB, go 9-2, first Cotton Bowl appearance in 10 years
Season after that, start 3 year reign of QB that is only player to throw 5,000+ yards in consecutive seasons

So are we unable to reload as well? I will be the first to admit that if the knock was on the depleted D-line and inexperienced secondary, I would have no problem with the lack of respect….

then again, I cant complain, becuase we have all seen how this program thrives under the ‘we get no respect’ card, so big12, be ready because we are locked and loaded as much as last year

I have to think there is something acurate to the thought that 2010 will be a year to remember. I am not at all saying this year won’t be a good year.

But I’ve thought all along, and said as much, that with what OU and UT lose next year, we should be in the cat bird’s seat for the Big XII South.

I agree too. But I do wonder if they will devalue our achievements by saying that OU and TU were reloading that year.

agreed...

and a 10-2 or 11-1 season would be a great way to get started on 2010!
