Hmmm . . . at what other program would Harrell's experience be relevant? I think we all know that answer.

I guess that pretty much shatters my dreams of

Graham Harrell emerging like Doug Flutie or whatever from the filthy depths of Canada and making his mark on the NFL.

He’s making over a 100k a year to sit the bench!!!

less 40-50% in federal, provincial, and sales taxes . . . but at least he has universal health care.

Thank god the Repub. was elected in Mass. yesterday. But no more politics on this board. (Unless some crazy person has a rebuttal. Ha ha)

I'll agree

that healthcare needs some reform, but I think that the bill the Dems. were pushing just wasn’t what we needed. This is one of those things where both sides need to negotiate and negotiate on. Not one side having a supermajority and passing a bill that no one who reads it likes.

No rebuttal here

Can’t believe it was those crazy Mass yankees that saved us. Maybe they’re not so bad after all……Naw, they’re still yankees. What was I thinking. :-)

Maybe he and Dana going there will be a curse to OSU. I mean neither could get a win when Tech played there.

No Red Raider Sports Links

Can we make a pact not to post a link to a pay-per-view site like Red Raider Sports? This guessing game is not doing anyone any good. If someone has full site access, please pass the full story on to us poor folk.

by RonnieB on Jan 20, 2010 6:49 PM CST reply actions   0 recs

Against board rules . . .

to pass along pay site info before its commonly available. In this case, the RRS teaser was obvious enough for everyone to read between the lines. I won’t post a generic “How does Recruit A feel after his in-home visit”-type info because it provides absolutely no value or insight.

I see Kliff Kingsbury is staying at UH..

So I guess maybe OSU picked up Harrell as Kingsbury’s backup? :P

by merrik on Jan 20, 2010 8:36 PM CST up reply actions   0 recs

Maybe Kliff's a bit more like us . . .

and kept snickering during the conversation due to a mental loop of Gundy’s legendary “I’m 40, I’m a man” monologue.

No offense Graham

But I think KK is the prodigy here in terms of coaching. Also watch out for Trey Haverty at TCU….smart dude on the rise.

OSU? I don’t subscribe to RRS. I like my news free.

Apparently Xerox fans are speculating that they got the Graham.

Per The Oklahoman, it is OSU

Given Holgerson’s move to OSU, I don’t see how there was ever any doubt about which school.

As of lunch today...

I talked with a friend that I work with who’s husband has worked with Graham on his QB skills since he was in high school about this. They are close friends with the Harrell’s and talk to him quite often. When I asked about this, she said there has been no conversation about him coaching anywhere. Although his dad is getting out of coaching. Now things can always change but as of right now, I’d say it’s just a rumor with not much bite.

by abiraidr on Jan 21, 2010 12:47 PM CST reply actions   0 recs

wow

If all of this turns out to be a bunch of rumors and he isn’t going anywhere, I’d have to consider cancelling my subscription to such a site. But, based on the results of Seth’s survey, most of us don’t pay for it anyway (Tech news that is).

Thanks for the info ABI. Keep us in the loop if you hear more.

What I wonder is if Harrel can work at OsU and still hate OsU?

by silver_ on Jan 22, 2010 9:29 AM CST up reply actions   0 recs

A thought

Can you imagine how crappy it would feel the first time you had to put on the OSU gear for practice or a game! Holy crap that would suck.
I realize you gotta eat and all, but the idea of wearing a OSU t-shirt or sweatshirt makes me want to throw up.

The Leach Tree Grows

All these ex coaches and players are landing jobs all over. Good for them, but what does that show? That Leach hired and recruitted high quality people with intelligence. So, that’s the problem. The three stooges didn’t want anyone else there smarter than they are.

The saddle Tramp bell ringers are smarter than they are. No offense bell ringers.

At least this won't really hurt us

Since our offense is changing. Xerox can copy us, but we’ll stay a step ahead.

Pete Christy has confirmed that Graham will be joining Dana on the OSU staff as Quality control coaches. I still think we have a Gem in Sonny Combie.

I couldn’t go coach for a conference foe less than 14 months after playing for Tech. I know food and rent are keys to survival and all, but I may just bum off my parents until I could get a job at another school.

by Tech92 on Jan 21, 2010 8:39 PM CST reply actions   0 recs

I guess I was just looking forward to Graham Harrell eventually making it in the NFL. Seems like him going the coaching route now is sort of giving up on that.

Hell, look at Danny Amendola. He had a crappy few years getting tossed around, playing on practice squads and being the tiny white guy who wants to be an NFL player. Danny Amendola hung around where he wasn’t welcome and nobody wanted him long enough and eventually he got his shot and proved himself. And he ended up having a better year than Darrius Heyward-Bey. ;)

by merrik on Jan 22, 2010 12:18 AM CST up reply actions   0 recs

He's still going to play . . .

Reading his dad’s comments, Graham seems to be looking at the OSU gig as a mutually beneficial arrangement. He can help Dana and groom the QB’s while also working out and getting in some throws. He is headed back to Canada in June for camps . . . and then waiting for phone to ring from the NFL. He’s a good kid but I don’t think he has a future in the big show; coaching is in his blood and that’s where he needs to be.

by CRV on Jan 22, 2010 1:34 AM CST up reply actions   0 recs

Lord knows his dad makes enough…. last I heard it was over a 100K a year.

by RdrPwr on Jan 22, 2010 12:44 AM CST up reply actions   0 recs

Gotta’ have some respect for the man battling MS and staying on the sidelines. They’re going to pay those bucks to someone, and Sam’s as good of a person as any. Besides, the $100K+ club is growing every year in Texas HS.
