But its a government entity that cant be taken to court….. or at least thats what the told Leach. Why would they fall for that pressure then tell Leach he cant?

The customer is always right. Who cares about protecting your employees from false claims? You can always get more employees, ya know.

by merrik on Jan 27, 2010 7:07 PM CST up reply actions

Putting it that way, wouldnt the James family be sort of considered employees? The customers in this case would be the people who pay for tickets and donate to the program and university.

Well, Adam James is receiving goods and services from TTU, so that’s why I say he is a “customer”. It’s a little different I guess because he’s not really paying money to go there as much as he is providing talent for the team and his dad was providing nice happy thoughts on national airwaves about Texas Tech.

This still doesn’t really explain why Leach was suspended prior to the investigation being completed, which was out of line with his contract, why they story broke the story prior to the investigation being completed, why Craig James was directly calling the top decision-makers at the university, or why/whether James ever actually just asked Leach what happened.

It really seems to me that Craig James probably hulked out over what his son told him in a way that probably made Mike Leach’s bullying of Hance look tame. I’d love to have audio from James’ phone conversations with the BOR.

No doubt, but

“to go there as much as he is providing talent for the team”…. throw around talent loosely there dont ya?

Not the same thing

A tort (personal injury) claim is different than a breach of contract claim for purposes of sovereign immunity. There are exceptions for torts that allow personal injuries claims to proceed under the Texas Tort Claims Act.

Been waiting for other shoes to drop...

…particularly as it relates to the James’. Let’s see. Average players parents, versus high profile parent with the large media stick to beat you with. Wonder how that’ll turn out? Oh, wait, that’s right, CYA and fire the coach.

Wait

a guy who threatened to sue is the guy that ESPN hoisted up as the human-interest spokesperson in this whole thing?

Just checking.

The Charm of December

Holiday Caroling, Festive Spirits and your dad threatening to sue your college to get his son more playing time…..I guess it’s just another wacky James Family Christmas

So getting rid of Leach was on the James family Christmas wish list.

Son of a gun,

I think I’m still confused, in part because the LAJ article states that CJ threatened to sue, but then CJ’s public relations firm states clearly that he never threatened to sue TT.

Why would CJ’s P.R. firm make that claim when there’s a memorandum that says that CJ would threaten to sue and TT didn’t take it lightly?

In related news, none of this makes sense.

Hmmmmmmm

IF Tech is telling the truth (I said IF), then Craig James is a liar.
IF Craig Jame is telling the truth (same IF), then Tech is a liar.
I wonder if the WWL will report this one and what their take will be? Oh Mark, (May) what is your stupid opinion?

I'd agree but...

the sh!t hit the fan a month ago.

It’s more like the crap is running down the walls and pealing off the wallpaper revealing things we weren’t meant to see.

Okay…now I don’t even know what I’m talking about. Doh!
