NewsChannel 11 was at the Texas Tech Athletic Department when Tommy Tuberville, a candidate for Texas Tech head football coach and former Auburn coach, arrived to get ready for his interview.
Tuberville is expected to meet with Tech President Guy Bailey at 11:00 a.m. and then expected to meet with Chancellor Kent Hance shortly after.

Just listened to the Doug Gottlieb Show
on his “the press” segment. The reported said that Tuberville openly considered bringing back Dana Holgorsen any staff he might want by “putting a lot of money in front of him”.
Dana Holgorsen? + Kliff Kingsbury?
this could work
The Lyle Leong Bandwagon will Continue to Roll!!!
Respect Everyone....Fear No One!
Wreck 'em, Tech!
NO Tubberville.!!
at the University of Mississippi, they call him “Tommy Traderville”… google it.
at Auburn University, he second guessed himself, and 3 offensive coordinators out of their jobs, and his own job.
NCAA Football Grad. Rate: Texas Tech 79%, Baylor 78%, Oklahoma State 62%, Texas A&M 56%, Texas 50%, OU 46%
13-0
need I say more? why on earth would you second-guess a coach who went undefeated for the season just five years ago?
Why would that same university
S Can a 13 game winner? They felt the program slipping.
I am torn about this, but Gene effing Chizik replaced him. I would fear for Air Raid, but Holgerson, Riley and KK make me feel better.

Man I Wish They Would Take Dykes Out Of The Equation!
The other 3 I’m ok with. The Gerald Myers Spike Dykes friendship worries me.

Is it a done deal?
I can’t believe they would fly Tuberville across country and have the three serious interviews just for show and hire Ruff. Also, already proven not, if money is an issue, maybe Tech does not have to pay him full rate because of his Auburn buyout over a period of years. Does anyone know anything about that?
Not exactly the same
but when Bob Knight came to TTU the word was out that he did not accept the offered salary from TTU. He was still being paid by his previous employer..then he got all kinds of applause for donating money to the library, I am guessing that was his TTU salary or a big part of it following the advice of his accountant…made him look good.
Wow. Leach to Tuberville.
Kiss every otherwise-disinterested fan of the Red Raiders goodbye if that happens. I like Tub and all, but I had no reason to bother with Tech football before the Pirate, and I guarantee that I’ll have no reason to bother with it if Tub is the guy.
Snoozeville.
Oh, and on that note: all this love from ESPN that the school is getting? Don’t expect it to translate into coverage in the fall. You’ll be looking to the Texas and Oklahoma matchups for your national coverage.
Hooper, I can assure you that these theoretical “disinterested” people you refer to are even less interested in your opinion of this entire situation than they would be in a Tuberville hiring at Texas Tech. Shockingly, the goal of Texas Tech University is not to please people who portray themselves as some sort of animated canine on multiple SB nation blogs. Please be on your way now…your words are no longer needed here.
That's not fair
Hooper was just giving his opinion about the hire and he’s entitled to an opinion as much as you are. Not to mention, you didn’t appreciate it when you were asked to “move on” and now you’re asking Hooper to do the same thing. I like Hooper and he’s a good writer at Rocky Top Talk.
Go Raiders . . .
Double-T Nation
And that's not to say that my opinion
is the only one that matters, but I don’t think he’s here to troll DTN.
Go Raiders . . .
Double-T Nation
You are right Seth.
We are all in the same boat, just manning different paddles. We all want a coach that will not only pick up where Leach left off, but possibly improve on what he has done. Will that happen? Only time will tell.
"Help, it's hot and dark in here and someone is laughing." Taco Bell
Just my opinion.
I know full well that BoR isn’t looking to me for advice. I’m not attempting to give any. In the long run, it really doesn’t matter what people like me would want anyhow; Tech has to answer to their own. It’s kind of like Kiffin at Tennessee: everybody outside UT seems to hate him, but the UT fans love him.
And no worries about offense. It’s a touchy subject and I wrote that about as strongly as I write anything. I just wanted to point out that, as an outsider, Tuberville doesn’t bring any particular interest for me to watch Tech football. Leach certainly did.
Now, if Tub can manage 10+ win seasons and major bowl games, you’ll get your due. Winning always works. (And if Leach hadn’t won, his persona wouldn’t have worked at the national level.)
There is a valid point
in your comment about the interest that Mike Leach brought to Tech football.
Is there a coach in the nation who could bring similar interest, one that TTU could attract?
While I am not particularly a Tub’s for Tech campaigner, I can recognize that our enjoyment for Mike Leach’s leadership and his personality as a TTU coach is gone and that the traits that he possesses are pretty unique, at least as I see them.
I am interested in reading your take on who we might be able to get as a head coach who would tweak your interest.
Regarding Tuberville, at this point he, like any other coach being considered or who could be considered, can only address the future of the program in a dialogue, no one can definitively aver that they will replicate whatever it might be that we lost in Mike Leach. He is on record saying that he would get Holgerson (and I remain somewhat skeptical with that goal being realized). That indicates to me, that the guys doing the interviewing have that as a criteria, whomever is hired. (And it is not just that it comes out of the Tuberville interview, it is a recurring theme)
