Synopsis of the Game | I don't have a clue about what the offense is going to do and that makes predicting how I think this game will play out incredibly difficult. I just want a win. My offensive MVP is predicated on what I want to happen and I'm sure that a lot of you feel the same way.

Red Raiders Win Red Raiders Win
Backup QB enters the game mideway thru the second quarter after Potts goes 3 and out in his first three possessions. Sticks comes in and scores on this first three possessions as the Red Raiders come back to defeat the Cyclones 31-24. Sticks hits 22 of 30 passes for 359 yards, and 0 Int. In his post game notes Tubby says, “Potts still our man, he has a long leash.” Another Red Raider First Down.

Thats awesome
I like the synopsis. Count me in
Here's what I'm thinking.......
Texas Tech 49 Iowa State 17
OMVP – Torres / Sheffield / Crawford / Batch
DMVP – Smith / Duncan / Davis / Ford
I’m going to try and start counting pancake blocks for our O-Line and shotgun one beer for each one while it happens. This could go terribly wrong or terribly right. It’s just a way to guage our run game and see if the line is getting better. By the end of the season, my alcohol tollerance will be super high or I’ll be in trouble.

Kwash funny you mention that;
I think I have consumed more alcohol in the first three games this year than I did all last year, or I finally have built up my tollerance level.

If...
…Sticks is the OMVP then we roll. If Potts plays the whole game, look for a loss to lowly ISU. This week we find out if Tubs and Brown can coach.

ISU: 17
With Potts:
TTU: 17

OMVP: Sticks or none

Statement game
This is Neal Browns opportunity to convince people he can coach an offense at this level. I haven’t seen it yet but the schedule doesn’t get much easier so here’s his shot. I really hope Sheffield gets the opportunity he deserves and not just 3 downs. I think our defense scores some points in this game with some pick 6’s. I’m hoping Bront Bird has his coming out party and makes an impact on this defense.
TTU: 45
IS: 17
OMVP: Alex Torres
DMVP: Scott Smith
One last thing: I very happy this morning and smiling ear to ear after watching A&M lose to OSU last night!

As much as i want to believe tubberville will put sticks in i don’t think he will. He said in the beginning of the season he would use both quarterbacks because they were both good.
We still Haven’t much of sheffield yet.
I think the coaches are still experimenting with plays on our offense to get a feel for what works. I believe that we can score 45 point on Iowa but I predict we will be trying to run the ball alot more and i see a low scoring game.
TTU: 27
IS: 17
OMVP: Batch
DMVP: Duncan
Tech angry. Tech smash.
52-10 .. late in the second half the rampaging team leaves the stadium to plunder the Ames Art Museum. We get a win and a few good pieces out of the deal.
OMVP: Sheffield

Sorry Junior, ISU’s pass defense ranking is based on them playing the all-out air assaults of KSU & Iowa- please!
Throw first and ask questions later.
Inability to Prognosticate
Having attended the first three Texas Tech games and seen every play, I feel competent in saying I have no idea how this game will turn out. I haven’t seen Iowa State play a single down. However, I think they’ve hired a coach who wants to be there and their team is playing as a team and will do so for the foreseeable future.
I’m concerned about the chemistry of Tech’s team and I haven’t seen anything on offense that makes me believe there is any continuity from the Leach years to this year. Tech has better talent and more depth than Iowa State, of that I’m sure. However, I think anything can happen. Early turnovers and/or scores will be huge, as I think early momentum may decide the outcome of the game. I’m in “show me” mode.
I dont have a score
but i got some predictions though. My OMVP is Torres, either QB is gonna be glad to have a sure handed receiver back in torres. I think duncan is gonna have himself a nice game. Some tackles, a sack or two, and some TFL. We stuff ISU’s run game and force arnaud to beat us with the pass. Our secondary has a field day. some INT’s, maybe a pick 6, and LOTS of pass breakups. The run game gets going and churns out yards after yards. We win comfortably.

From looking at the vote
Optimism reigns high…in spite of the many confessions to buying in to the hype.
I voted a win by at least 7 also…maybe it is my pride.
as for me and my house, we chose the Lord.
I did the same thing, but...
it’s really hard to say. ISU is not a good team, but it remains to be seen whether we are or not. Past years’ performances have to go out the window now.
Tech – 30
ISU – 20
I’m not sure how good Iowa State actually is, but they played Kansas State very well at Kansas State.
Leading 20-17 in the 4th quarter, ISU fumbled the ball on their 25 yard line with around 4 minutes left in the game before falling 27-20.
Kansas State (4-0), defeated UCLA 31-22 in the season opener in Manhattan.
In Kansas State’s victory over ISU, KSU rushed for 262 yards against 104 yards passing.
I think we’ll win. But we’re on the road. ISU has shown that they can play, and we still have consistency issues on offense.
Our talent will ultimately wear ISU down, but I don’t think ISU will go quietly.
I’m hoping for a statement game from the O-Line.
"This time it's different."
Potts = MVP
but our defense falters……………….and we get a shootout.

Anticipate a good feeling on Sunday morning
We will win against ISU, though I have completely given up on predicting the score. OU will also win giving us new life in the Big 12 title race.
The OSU-aTm game exposed both teams as beatable. =)
I will wake up Sunday morning smiling and eager for Baylor week. I will be going to the game in Dallas next week expecting a great time.
I’ll be rooting for Nebraska to humble the horns on the 16th confident that the Red Raiders will take care of business week by week. Dream big!
Give everyone a 3-1 record (except OSU)
Not that I am a fan of the horns.
But wouldn’t you want ut to win.??
That would give Tech, ou and ut all 3-1 records.
That would balance the field and give Tech the opportunity to turn this season into a Great one.
NUTS - Never Underestimate TEAM Strength
Except our one loss is a conference loss to UT. They are undefeated in conference
We need UT to lose two in conference to pull ahead of them.
It's called the Air Raid. So why would you try to run it like it's 1992?
you are correct
Go ou
I forgot that ut’s loss was not in conference

Anyone know if the game will be on the web somewhere—I know last time a DTN’er posted the link to watch the UNM game. Any chance that can happen again?
Not sure
what cable you have, but have you checked for FCS Central (Fox College Sports Central)? Verizon FIOS here in the metroplex has it on channel 301. It’s not quite as rare as the MTN network like last week. If you don’t have it I’d keep an eye on justin.tv, I would think someone would put it on there.
Check veetle.com too.

More Offensive Line Comments;
Watching the OK State and FAggie game last night, the OL and QB really struggled in the first half against the aTm four man rush. Give credit to Dan H. for making the adjustments at halftime. That is what I am talking about. Making halftime adjustments and winning the game Air Raid style. So, why can’t our HC and OC find a way to help out OL and QB.
"I spent 18 months, off and on, with the script writer. I might as well have not spent one second with him." Don Haskins.
Did you notice that OSU's Air Raid OC
had his OL playing out of a three point stance, knuckle on the ground….I did a double take when I first saw them line up.

"Mongo is pawn in game of life" ..
So Seth says Sheffield is the MVP?? Thatβs going to cause trouble. That scenario requires a couple of facts Potts is ineffective or hurt. Sheffield must come in. Or the Raiders trail late in the3rd period and Potts gets pulled by a dissatisfied Offensive coordinator. Or itβs clean up time Tech leads by 4 scores and Sheffield is getting garbage time repetitions.
So my offensive MVP is: Baron Batch
And my defensive MVP is: Brian Duncan
The score: Tech 49 to Clones 20. To clarify the final 7 Cyclone points comes against the 3rd string defense in the 4th period.

Stubborn
Our coaches seem to be stubborn. I think to actually get Sheffield playing time it is going to take a loss where everyone holds up their end on offense except Potts. He will be the final scape goat I think. O-line will have to play well, receivers need to catch everything thrown their way, RBs need to have good yards/rush and we still lose in order to get the coaches off Potts. I would be surprised to see Sticks more than 1 series barring one of the situations centex mentioned above.
Coach Leach was often labeled as 'stubborn'
maybe they learn that in Coaching 101

I once read that the definition of comedy is "Unexpected Juxtoposition"
And what could be more unexpected than the combination of the letters MVP and the name Adam James?
It's called the Air Raid. So why would you try to run it like it's 1992?
Depends On.
If the coaches are telling the truth and let Sticks have meaningful playing time we win easily. Who knows what happens if there lying. At some point it is cruel to let a kid think he’s going to play or give him one series. Using him as decoy to play mind games with the opponents DC is equally ridiculous and would seem counter productive to good team chemistry.
MVP. Batch and Smith for the defense. TTU with a Big STICKS, 45 ISU 21. Another Red Raider First Down. Gooooooooooo Tech.
Will Sticks Give Up;
My only concern now is will Sticks throw in the towel. I don’t think so, but this is it for him. At one point do you stop studying your opponenet and working hard on the game plan. If TP is going to be the guy, and this is game number four, and if he does not get a shot against ISU, I’m afraid he just might shut it down. I don’t think it is in his character, but I’m just saying.

One other Thing.
It was great to see Aggy loose. Now if O.U will just do the right thing and crush Whorn, life will be sweet. Have a great weekend and be careful it’s a jungle out there.
FYI
I know that we all like to take liberties at one Juliette (Adam) James, but it would be so totally awesome of everyone to just calling him the most inventive female name that you can think of, but leave out calling him other names. You’re all better than that. Now, Craig, I don’t care. I think he’s an asshat.

Ra-Donda Cheyene is a great name for number 82. Asshat seems about right That would make Ra-Donda a chip off the old Asshat. He is definitely the weak link on the broad cast team.

Who like ISU here?
I may be unhappy with the quality of play by the Raiders, but ISU cannot keep up with Tech, even if Potts plays poorly. If Sheffield does get significant time, it will be because Coach Tuberville actually is telling the truth for a change. I am to the point I cannot really bank on what he says as being actual because it just isn’t. If he really wants to “win championships”, then this is the game, following an open week to get everything straightened out, to get it done.

TTpilk Psalm 117:
1 ΒΆ O praise the LORD, all ye nations: praise him, all ye people.
2 For his merciful kindness is great toward us: and the truth of the LORD endureth for ever. Praise ye the LORD.
I don’t have a huge amount of confidence in this one. I listened to Tub’s weekly radio show last night and he was worried that the team tried to play the game during practices and may have over done it, or that’s the insinuation I got at any rate.
I think this team will struggle most of the year with consistency and that will play out tomorrow night.
I do think Tech has enough firepower to out play the Cyclones and the score may end up a bit one sided, but I don’t think it will be the type of game we’re all thrilled with – again.
Iowa State will screw up enough to give us a short field several times and Tech will capitalize. We’ll also get a yardage total that will keep people from jumping out a window. Sheffield will get some reps, but the rust will be fairly evident. As will the flashes we’ve seen that keep us wanting more, which is why I think he’s an enigma at this point. If was THAT much better than TP, I think the reality is he’d start. He has intagibles that Potts doesn’t have, but we don’t know that he’s not throwing INTs all over the place in practice, either. Potts will look great/awful in the same game and very likely on the same play a few times. But I see another outing like we had against UNM overall.
Call this one Tech 49 ISU 27…this team will win eight games this year, but we’ll pull our hair out watching it.

I look for
a low score in this game. Colby “the master” Whitlock will be a beast and the
def. mvp.
"uh, uh, well, uh yeah, I think the guys, uh played, uh pretty well in the second
half." The captains words, after uh, the insight bowl. You're the best Mike!
We will win the game but not the score.
My prediction:
1. We will have less penalties and play cleaner than Iowa.
They are struggling with penalties, too and I would bet we get them under control.
2. We will look and play like a championship team, Finally clicking on all cylinders for perhaps the only game in recent history, and possibly the near future.
-And this is important. We will look awesome out there, and they will look awful – but…
2.B. Williams fails to succeed on an FG attempt.
3. Iowa St. gets lucky, and the stars line up just right where they get lucky enough in all 4 quarters to win by a FG.
In other words they will win narrowly, but not earn it in any sense, whatsoever.
Even worse than an ugly win- is the lucky win.
…Oh, and Sheffield who? I’ll believe it when I see It.
(I, for one, want to see Doege/Dodge/Doggie out there totally embarrassing Sticks and Potts.)
I Know it sounds stupid and I don’t usually go for this angle, but there must be something in the air this morning. I am not a hocus-pocus type of guy…
