Synopsis of the Game | I don't know if I have the energy or creativity to figure out how this is going to go, other than, the offense and defense will most likely start slowly. I shouldn't be picking Texas Tech for a win, especially considering Texas Tech has never won at Colorado, but I do think that right now, Texas Tech is a better team than Colorado.

Was thinking what a crappy year the buffs are having...
Oops, same record. Trying out some new boots for mojo and we are 3-0 on our roadtrips. Sign of getting old (for rdrpwr)…..buying boots just a bit big to fit orthotics.

Speaking of Old Balls....

I hate to think this way but I’ve always slated this game as a loss and I have absolutely no reason to think that this team can win at Colorado. I have little faith in our OC and his ability to run an offense at this level so that is my primary reasoning. Hopefully I’m proven wrong.

Come Sunday and Monday, the coaches will once again blame it on the defense and on the receivers, and praise QB Potts for another magnificent performance. Once again, the momentum killing drives, the off target YAC killing throws and the bullet like throws to receivers standing 10 feet away will go unnoticed. These intangible problems will once again stall our offense. The coaches will get what they have asked for with this QB and us the fans will have to suffer through yet another humiliating loss in a game that we win by a blowout on paper.

It's all a delusion
You’ve had a spell cast upon you by witch doctors loyal to Steven Sheffield. I know. They got to me too.
I'm ignoring the fact that I think you all are probably right....
Considering our lovely recored in Boulder.

Yes. I think we are to Colorado what Baylor is to us.

We left in the middle of the Phish headlining set at ACL Friday night
They did a version of the Velvet Underground’s “Rock & Roll” that rolled on non-stop for like 20 minutes. I was like, “That’s it, I can’t take another minute”. The Ramones had it right. Rock & Roll songs should be under 3 minutes. And preferably very fast.
Great theory
that may be why I have an affinity for classic country and 70s and 80s punk. Odd mix, I know, but that’s how I roll.

I remember when the Captain
went to CU and faced a woeful, winless Buff team and got stomped 36-3. That was pretty embarassing.

Remember the Hogs
Arkansas used to dominate us back in the day. I was there when we beat them in our last meeting before they jumped from the SWC to the SEC. The students chanted “SWC, We’re Pork Free!”
Our only shot is come up with a good chant. “Big 12 minus 2, ______________!” Anyone?

I think Tech breaks the CU Curse. CU can’t pass very well (under 200 yds per game), and we know it. We will do okay against a one-dimensional team.

Interesting calls by Seth for MVP's
and couragous, but not necessarily foolish.
After all for Douglas, he did catch two balls last week ;-)
I don’t care about the past games, I don’t care about the current records, TTU is a better team right now, better coached right now than what is at CU.
So I guess I am saying we better win…especially since it is not on the tv…boy does that feel aggyishily ugly.
as for me and my house, we chose the Lord.
If we win.......
it will most certainly be because of the awesome coaching staff. And a loss, well
bank on it being a player problem.
"uh, uh, well, uh yeah, I think the guys, uh played, uh pretty well in the second
half." The captains words, after uh, the insight bowl. You're the best Mike!

Hate to do that, but Boulder is not our rock.

I did, too....
But all the optimism in this thread is catching on to me. I’m now hopeful of a win in Colorado. Now that my pessimism has turned upside down, if TTU loses and crushes me tomorrow, I will have a very difficult time getting excited for the rest of the season. The saving grace is that I can’t watch them on television, so if they lose, I can pretend they looked good doing it.
"They challenged us. They said, 'Here, try to run past us, try to run inside us.' And they were better at preventing that than we were throwing and catching it." --Mike Leach
It does make me sick that we're playing in Boulder
Yes, we’ve never won there, and we all know it. But I’m hoping we can pull and okie st. and buck the trend.

All 8 Selectors in the Dallas Morning News Have Tech Winning & Covering the Spread vs Colorado
And the majority on Double T Nation have Tech losing. I think I know what it is. It’s what Bill Murray and Harold Ramis told the mayor of New York: Dogs sleeping with cats , mass hysteria.
I think Tech wins Saturday, maybe impressively. And the mood around here will climb again next week. Then the fates will beat us down one more time, well, three more times with Aggies, Missouri & Oklahoma to follow. The Colorado game is our real chance to get the 6th win for bowl eligibility (I think we close out the season with the two non conference wins).
I agree.......
and I think we beat Aggie too………just to put the nail in their coffin.

then they can hire phillip fulmer and we can change the conference name to the Big SEC LOL!

The last coach here was fired for only beating Texas 20% of the time
So we have high expectations for our head coaches.
LOL, most people only beat Texas 20% of the time.....
Hance thought that was cute, but non the less not well thought out……….and a difficult precedent to live up to unless he plans on hiring Stoops……and getting all of Oklahoma’s recruits.

My guess is that we play it close.
Lose late and Tuberville says the team is finally coming together. All is well.
"A pretty girl will leave you. An ugly girl will leave you too but then again who really cares?"
Time for new traditions
Tech 35 Buffs 34. Surely, Tubby knows he cannot go 1-4 in Big 12.
"I spent 18 months, off and on, with the script writer. I might as well have not spent one second with him." Don Haskins.
He knows he was 13-0 one time.
I don’t know what incentive he has to win. This season’s in the tank and he knows he’s getting a free pass. The more he loses in his freebie year the more dramatic the turnaround will be when he actually starts doing his job next year. He already lost to Iowa State so this probably wouldn’t be a worse lost. Even if anyone in a position to pressure him cared about this season, there’s coaching vacancies open everywhere and he was 13-0 once in the SEC. I guess I’d appeal to pride, but every time we’ve lost so far he’s put it on himself and his coaching … so that doesn’t seem to phase him either.
Be a team. Be the most excited to play. Be the best at doing your @#&$ing job.
Thats a good point...
if he goes 6 and 6, and then 8-4, and then wins big in 2013 people will re-write history and say it was a huge turn around, which simply isn’t true. But then again, this idea floated around that we had the talent to win 10 games this year wasn’t true either. I thought we did, but we simply don’t. Not on defense, not at QB, not at OL, and most of all not at receiver (second hat tip of the day to battledome).

We have the talent to be undefeated at this point of the season.

I think we have the talent to beat the UT team that showed up in Lubbock....
but not the one that went to Lincoln, and we sure as hell did not have the talent to beat the OSU team who came to Lubbock. So to your point, we should have one loss up till now, but more coming. IMO, realistically we have the talent to go 8 and 4 with losses to OSU, OU, MZ, and UT. I thought in the spring we had more of a shot than that, but this is where my expectations should have been. I don’t know how to quantify the coaching change, or bad play calling, or bad luck, or whatever will be the reason that will fall short of 8 and 4, assuming we do.
"Dress good, yu'll play good. Play good, yu'll get paid good." -Deion Sanders
Another loss
Close or not who cares, we get beat again by another inferior school from the north. Coach Cornbread strikes again yee-haw NASCAR, yee-Haw SEC, Roll Tide Roll, blah blah blah. Somebody just hit the banjo and the whole bloody damn thing is complete. Pickin and grinnin with Coach Cornbread and Soggy Bottom Boys. Stop Drinking the Kool Aid
Since I have evidently been censored from redraiders.com, I’ll try here. Tommy Tubberville is wrong for this team. He lies. He tries to change the facts of years past. Listen to what he says, folks. He’ll try to convince you that the reason we are losing is because we are so banged up on defense…hmmm, last time I checked, for 17 winning seasons we got guys banged up pretty bad, but we managed to win more than we lost. He has tough shoes to fill and he’s feeling the pressure, so he’s doing what any good salesman tries to do. He tries to capitalize on your ignorance, tries to skew the truth, and he tries to make himself the savior for you and Texas Tech football. Listen to him objectively, here what he says, then remember back to just last year…5 years ago, 10 years and ask yourself if what he states and what actually happened is consistent. I submit to you that it is not. He’s already laying the ground work for why we will lose the remainder of our games (excluding Weber State). Here it is, you heard it here first: 1. Our defense is too banged up and we can’t stop their defenses; 2. We had to play red shirt freshmen because of our injuries and they’re simply too inexperienced/not big enough or strong enough; and 3. the other teams were simply better than us and we have to “give them credit”. Those will be his chief excuses, mark my words. And for everyone that is still on board with Tommy, please put the kool aid down. Do you honestly think he will be here for 10 plus years? Success or no? Do you think he has the commitment like Leach? No, at best we’re looking at 3 to 4 years of misery, and then what? He will either leave if he has any measure of success, or he will quit. And then where will we be? Again, you heard it here first.
Priceless...

Based on what, Junior? Wishing something better, doesn’t make it so. Didn’t Mommy and Daddy ever teach you that?
I don't like predicting losses.
Hard to get around this one though. History isn’t on our side. Talent might be, but Colorado hasn’t played bad at home this year… they’re 3-1. Better than Tech’s home record. Apparently the team is affected heavily by wind and cold.. I expect we can add elevation to the list of things the team isn’t prepared (or even overprepared) for.
Be a team. Be the most excited to play. Be the best at doing your @#&$ing job.
Thankyou
Do not be depressed. My favorite Red Raider tells me of the dark days in the early fifties and later as a player after coming home from Korea. It all cycles around it just sucks so bad with this SEC reject prick running the show. It won’t last long but its gonna hurt like a MOFO until its over. RAIDER!!!!!!!!!!
I say today we finish 7-5.
We outduel CU to keep hope alive.
A loss in College Station

Followed by a miracle in the Jones.
