Prediction Time | Texas Tech Red Raiders vs. Texas A&M Aggies

(4-3, 2-3)

VS.

(4-3, 1-2)

INFORMATION: Detail
OPPONENT: Texas A&M Aggies (4-3, 1-2)
DATE: October 30, 2010
LOCATION: College Station, TX
WEATHER: Sunny, 79
TIME: 2:30 p.m. CST
TV: None
RADIO: Affiliates
GAME CAST: Fox Sports

Synopsis of the Game | Thank goodness I'm not trying to make money from my weekly Texas Tech pick.  The line opened at 6 and it's moved to 7.5.  I'm not sure that anyone wants to really admit it, but the Aggies are the better team right now and it's mostly apparent on defense.  Both offenses have had their problems with consistency and I wouldn't expect things to change this week.  At this point of the season, you are what you are.

Offensive MVP | WR Detron Lewis

Defensive MVP | S Cody Davis

Final Score | Texas Tech Red Raiders 28, Texas A&M Aggies 26

Potts won't

The kid tries really hard, but unfortunately his best is not good enough to win games in the Big XII, especially when it comes to a shootout. He is just too inconsistent and has other issues that are uncoachable no matter how hard he tries.

by jef on Oct 29, 2010 9:58 AM CDT up reply actions

But I think we will win

because our defense will actually step up in this game just enough to let us squeak past with a victory. A&M’s changing of QBs will be their biggest detriment in this game.

You picked the same score as last week… thought that was funny!

Then I did research… lets compare some things shall we

Seth’s Predictions 2010

SMU 42-24
New Mexico 56-12
Texas 24-23
Iowa State 35-10
Baylor 40-38
Oklahoma State 40-38
Colorado 28-26
Texas A&M 28-26

I think that you got scared into a funk by the Iowa state game and now are afraid of picking Tech to win by anything more than 2.

Furthermore, if you are looking for stats on your optimism, I only found 2 occurrences in the past 3 seasons where you did not pick Tech to win their game. 2009 vs UT and vs Nebraska

Tech 28 A&M 35

I wish I were more optimistic about this game on Tech’s behalf but I just can’t see our defense stopping the run or pass with what we have presently. This game comes down to coaching as both these teams need this win very badly. If Tech pulls a win at Kyle Field this would be Tuberville’s biggest win yet. I would rather beat these guys than Missouri next week for recruiting purposes and in state bragging rights. I’m still trying to get over the loss from last season. I hope this coaching staff has these players motivated and prepared for what’s to come.

I hate what this season has done to me but I don’t think I can ignore what A&M has done on offense and defense when compared to us. The only statistic that I could find that Tech had an edge was on offensive passing yards. Mind you it was only 51 yards better than A&M.

I truly hope they prove me wrong!

I have a thought that Tannehill, as good as I think he can be, will have some issues and toss a few INTs that allow Tech to have some early success. But I think Tuberville and/or Brown makes too many in-game decisions that don’t work (not disasters like our on-sides kick attempts, but bad enough) to cost us the game. I’m thinking things like punting when it’s a fair shot to make a 4th down conversion…an untimelly draw on 3rd and 4 that kills a nice drive…going deep on two consecutive plays to put is in 3rd and long that makes for a 45 sec drive. Stuff like that.

Tech will likely look pretty good in this one and it’s too bad it won’t be on TV because I think it will go back and forth quite a bit. But Tech drops a heartbreaker in the end.

Aggy defense is pretty good. They have given up more than 400 yards of offense only twice (Missouri and Arkansas) so far. Potts needs to bring his A game to College Station and Neal Brown hopefully will make adjustments, because with this QB its not going to be easy going

by jef on Oct 29, 2010 11:31 AM CDT up reply actions

It's gonna be Ugly!!

The confidence that made us so much fun has gone dormant. Our believed Raiders are floundering. Tuberville & Co. have a strong incentive to produce a crappy season. If they have a successful season, then it was all Leach’s doing. This way they can take all the credit when we get back to winning.

We lose this game and all but the last two for this season. Next year we go to crappy bowl, on a mediocre season. But 2012-2013, watch out. They will need a great season in order to justify the huge $ when the renegotiate thier contracts.

We win...

in a too-close-for-comfort game, with the Aggies making enough crucial mistakes in front of the increasingly distressed home crowd.

Actually, I predict a big special teams play. On a kickoff, Carona hits a short squibber. The Aggies , after having repeatedly seen the excellent YouTube video of our onsides kick against Baylor, become confused in the heat of the moment and believe that staring at the ball laying on the ground is actually a new kickoff return strategy. Cornelius Douglas scoops up the ball and runs it in for a quick six. Special teams advantage: Texas Tech.

Well...

… after an elementary school grammar refresher, the ball, in fact, would be lying on the ground. Poor English notwithstanding, a TD for the Tech special teams.

Aggies win sadly.

Potts will throw 3 pics and play terrible once again. We will continue to keep our best QB on the bench b/c our coaches have mental problems. Potts defenders will continue to give his lame stats as evidence that he should still be QB even though Sticks stats are better. Tubs will continue to fracture our program and the sky will fall.

MVP: Stephens tears it up on the ground and through screens, and blocks his ass off for our quarterback whose back right foot weighs 800 lbs.
Duncan comes up with two sacks his senior year against “The Cult”

TTU is not going to come out blazing at the whistle. And I do not expect them too, The Cult have a tough stadium. They will take off in the 2nd quarter.

Potts has throw the ball downfield to get some momentum in this offense. Work the sides with some screens and look for a corner having a bad day, and expose that side with a well thrown fade (Harrell to RoJo style).

I think our defense will have great red-zone presence and force field goals, hence the awkard looking score. Duncan has one MEAN sack this game throws a chicken bone at that stupid dog. But not by much. Aggie needs this win as much, maybe more for the coach, than do we. By that standard, we should find it very difficult to walk away from Byran./College Station with a win. Makers Mark

Good choice. We’ll need some strong stuff when we listen to our beloved red raiders get crucified this weekend. It dulls the pain.

Mind vs. Heart

My mind tells me that Aggies will win because they have the home field advantage, better defense and a better QB

But my heart tells me that we will win it and I don’t know how.

I hope my heart prevails over my brain

I hope so too.

This site will be full of love next week if we can win and I want to see that!!!

BEAT THE FREAKIN' AGGIES!

If we win, I’ll be so happy I could run down the interstate nekkid! (Not a pretty sight-scare the hell out of folks on Halloween eve!)

Raiders 23... Aggies...17

Maroon… Bout the ugliest color I know! Tech this time starts off fast and scores soon. 3 field goals and field advantage play to Techs advantage. A&M adjust at half-time..but not enough. Gov Perry, (in attendance) begins a behind doors campaign to remove Tubs… :)

We tie the game at half time...

Then go into the locker room for a staegy session on adjustments for the second half and an inspirational speech by the Tubbman. We come out, line up and get soundly outplayed and lose by three touchdowns.

Do you fart loudly in church too?

What a Deborah Downer. Come on get happy. A whole lot of loving is what we’ll be bringing. We’ll make you happy. We have a dream we’ll go traveling together, we’ll spread a little loving and we’ll keep moving on. Something always happens whenever were together. We get a happy feeling when were singing a song.
