Kudos to Potts....
For coming off the bench and playing your game. There was no crying or complaining on your part (at least not in the media). This guy was the spark we needed to pull out a much needed win.
But more importantly, his post game speech. I am in the military, I have been injured, I am currently stationed in San Antonio recovering from my injury and I was at the game this weekend. Personally, I always feel uncomfortable when someone approaches me to thank me for serving. Those of us that are in the military did so because we volunteered. Now I am not speaking for the whole military but a great majority of us see our time in the military as doing our job. But for this young man who has constantly been bashed in Lubbock and ridiculed on these boards (I am guilty as well) to come out after a huge win and speak on his experience with our wounded warriors and give thanks....well I think it shows a great deal of maturity and dare I say....leadership on his part.
Great win, Great team effort, I was very lucky to be in the stands.....thank you Texas Tech Red Raiders and thank you Taylor Potts for not giving up and making my trip to Lubbock a memorable one.

I wish Potts could read this.
Well said. Thanks for “doing your job”. It means a lot to the free world.

Guys like you Raz make my job so much easier. If I was born in Saudi Arabia, Sudan, China or other places like that, odds are I would be in prison, possibly a hard labor camp; quite possibly would have been tortured by now (the way they do it, not the way we do it); who knows what would be of my wife and kids; and if I would not shut up and be a good little boy … I might suffer a cruel and unusual death.
So thank you for volunteering to protect my freedom and liberty from such tyranny.

May God be with you Raz and thanks.
Some of our greatest leaders do so with their actions rather than their words. Yes, there are the rah-rahs out there (makc brown) but there are those who quietly go about making the world a better place.

Kudos to Potts! And most importantly kudos to Raz and his fellow warriors.....
I am an old TT alumnus living in the Hill Country near San Antonio who finds the bantering on this site a fun read – sometimes verging on comical. It keeps me engaged with the Tech sports issues and offers some relief from daily business matters but I seldom post a comment. However, I visit Ft. Sam on a regular basis and it is a life changing experience to talk with the Wounded Warriors, like Raz, who have laid it on the line for us and our freedoms. And still maintain an absolutely positive attitude about our great country, life, and the future.
I couldn’t miss the opportunity to say to Raz – Thanks for your service and Blessings & God’s speed to you and yours! And, its great havng you on the Raider Team.
great read Raz

Raz, thank you
for all you and your fellow warriors do for us. Also, thank you for expressing so eloquently how some of us feel about Potts’ performance during and after the game. The young man is a winner no matter what the score might be in a football game.
First of all, thank you Raz for all you do for our country and defending our freedom.
Potts is a class-act and he could have used the post game speech to give all you haters a big F-you. He chose not to and decided to focus on more important things in life. So let’s just try to root this guy on in these next 3 games and maybe a bowl.
Next year DTN and Taylor Potts will all move on and hopefully this program will continue to thrive.
You really had to say that on this thread?

Wow
Potts is indeed a class act and handled all of this very well. You on the other hand Wrecker, not so much with your post here…

Now I know why you call yourself DryRoasted….go read the jillions of other posts about the disdain for Potts and you’ll know what I mean.
And yes, oldschool….I really had to say that on this thread.

I'll give you my email Address
if you want to ‘settle the score’ against everyone who ever said anything negative about Potts before these two pretty good quarters instead of diverting from a post from a guy making a bigger point.

Raz, again I want to thank you and all the men and women past and present in the military for all you do. My brother is active Army so I realize all you sacrifice for our freedom! Hoping for a win against OU so Tech gets in a bowl. Wreck em!

Bravo Zulu to you Raz and to you as well Potts. You did your job well.

Some people think football is a matter of life or death, but it's far more important than that.
The win has been somewhat overstated
In terms of what it means for the season, or the next game – But it was HUGE and meaningful where it really counted.
Veterans day is coming up – and many of us civilians get the idea that warriors might be uncomfortable being fawned over. It is very difficult for us to contain that sort of appreciation, but millions of us do.
There is a “silent majority” of us, and we are out there – everywhere you look. Many of us wish we could do more for the veterans, and we think it’s great that there are a growing number of organizations we can connect with, and maybe give a boost so someone who might need it. We like opportunities like the W.W.P and other groups to demonstrate the things we may not say, but surely feel -more often than what might be assumed.
Strange that I didn’t see or hear a flyover of this game. Is that because it was dark or did I just miss it? I look forward to seeing such awesome and various hardware in the sky and spending a moment in thought about those who are doing difficult and dangerous things so far from home. My thoughts the next moment are, of course: “Boy, am I ever glad I am not on the wrong end of those things.” and I suppose that’s as it should be.
Potts
The great thing about the comments Potts made was that he took the time to actually listen to the stories told by the warriors and to inform everyone in such a way that really showed his gratitute. I thought for a young man it was really mature of him to say once he was told about the life on deployment how much harder it was than his image of it previously. You could really see his appreciation
Dont buy the Espn/Disney/ABC hype ! Playoffs are just spin to hide their agenda of owning our favorite sport.
Thanks to you TFR
I hope you are getting the quality medical care that you deserve & glad that you were able to attend the game. We pray for your recovery.

Thanks, Raz
We could all stand a little humility at times. You have more than most and I appreciate your commitment to serving or country. I pray for your speedy recovery. Your analogy of Potts is spot on, as he has been a team player all along. Hopefully, his new-found abilities to lead the team to victory with precision passing and timely runs will continue. It would be great to see the raiders come away from Norman with a sixth win and qualification for a bowl.

If we beat A&M and UT next year, I will convert. Oh yeah, and if Leach gets his paid what he is owed as well. It would be so much easier to convert if the Bell Tower boys were gone. At least Meyers is about to be out.

Thank you TechFanRaz for “just doing your job”. It’s folks like you that give me hope for this great nation.
Thanks for all you do!!
Raz, you guys & gals are awesome. It brings tears to my eyes and chills down my spine when I really sit back and ponder on what you guys do for us!! Words cannot express our sincere appreciation for what you do!! Like Kwash, I wish Potts could read your comments because he is also a class act.
Take care and know Raider Nation loves you!!
Thank you TechFanRaz.
For doing your job !
For volunteering for the job !
And for standing up for what is right !!
Prayers for a full recovery, you have Blessed us with your post !
as for me and my house, we chose the Lord.
Another thanks
As a former member of the cadre at the Ranger School at Ft. Benning, I want to salute you and your fellows for your service to the country. Millions of people appreciate all of you serving ‘over there’ and all of us are in your debt.
For some strange reason of fate, though I was an Infantry officer, Airborne, etc., it was not my destiny to be sent to Viet Nam though conflict continued there for two or three years after I entered the Army. People usually served only one tour in harm’s way in Nam, so when I see that currently military serve several tours in Iraq or Afghanistan, I am feeling almost guilty. My thoughts are with all the service members serving in the Middle East.
P.S.
Whatever his success is or is not on the field, I am proud to see that Taylor is a fine human being of character and intelligence which is a lot more important in the grand scheme of things than football. I think he has the potential to be a fine doctor and maybe one who understands the traditional meaning of ‘bedside manner.’
Kudos to Raz and Potts
Pretty good post.
