PREVIEW
WHAT TO EXPECT | New Mexico is a really good team, it's a relatively young team and has a player that had once committed to Texas Tech. The Lobos just finished playing in the IBN Las Vegas Classic, losing to Northern Iowa in the final. On the win ledger for New Mexico is Arizona St., San Diego, two wins against rival New Mexico State and Colorado (who's actually playing really well this year). New Mexico only has two losses and I wouldn't consider them to be awful losses. Northern Iowa is a mid-major power, while New Mexico suffered an early season loss to California. And they're doing this by starting two freshmen. I'm incredibly jealous. Also, you may remember the name A.J. Hardeman, who originally signed with Texas Tech, went off to military school and then finally landed at New Mexico. I'd love to have another athletic forward that's Hardeman's size. Sigh.
KEY MATCHUPS | Like a lot of teams, New Mexico is reliant on their guards. With Texas Tech's SG Mike Davis being out for an extended period of time and SG David Tairu suffering a concussion against UT-Arlington, the guards are a bit thin for Texas Tech. One would think that Tairu would be ready to go, although it appears that SF Brad Reese will get the start. This is one of those games where I wonder how Singletary will matchup against a smaller player in McDonald. Typically, this is the type of matchup that gives Singletary fits on defense, i.e. a smaller player that's more of a wing and Singletary tends to disappear in games like this. It would be to Singletary's benefit to actually play inside rather than settle for anything outside.
FOUR FACTORS | Yet another team that does just about everything better than Texas Tech. Good times.

New Mexico could easily be an undefeated team with 12 wins (instead of 10) coming into Lubbock had it not had the two slip-ups to Cal and Northern Iowa. Cal was on the road, a good sign for us. But, NM coming off their last game as a loss to NIU is a real bad sign for us as they are going to come out to kick some ass. I will be watching and praying for a miracle. My strategy would be to rain down treys and hope we are on fire tonight. Wreck ’em Tech.

everything depends upon if we play D and rebound.

I assume with PK there will be no crashing of the boards or solid defence played on our end. Also, all our excellent young talent will waste away on the bench. So with that in mind hopefully we jack up threes from all angles of the court. PK would rather put in the 5th year towel boy than a freshman.

I think there would be much less pain
if we just forfeited the season. Probably save money too.
"As we continue to merely "talk about championships""
That is an idea
then we wouldn’t have to hear all of the whining about the stands being empty.

I expect us to lose this one.
A victory would be a big step though.
Would be HUGE upset!
I live an hour from UNM campus so I watch a lot of UNM games on TV or live. If Tech pulls off a win it would be HUGE. I really don’t see it happening with the team UNM has. Like DanSwany said, UNM should be 12-0 right now. The only thing going for Tech in this one is that the game is not played at The Pit. I will still be watching the game cheering for the scarlet and black! WRECK EM TECH!!!
This Ass whoopin is not gonna be pretty...
