Around SBN: Nevin Shapiro Vows To Bring Down Miami

"I thought we took some bad shots at times, hurried shots, made some really bad passes at times," Tech coach Pat Knight said. "I don’t think it was anything from a defensive pressure standpoint, it was a from a mental standpoint, and that really hurt us because when you get beat by two every little thing’s going to count. Every bad pass, missed layup, quick shot is going to stand out."

Haven't seen the game stats yet, but

turnovers, missed freethrows, lack of defense by the 2,3,4. There were times that either Lew or Darko had to go out to the 3-line to defend a shooter cause no one else would. Singletary should change his name to Single-function. All he did yesterday was run to the offensive corner and wait for the ball and never, ever, ever once did he play anthing resembling defense. He has been a disappointment to me all season. Gave up two good leads at home. Wonder what size TV they will watch March Madness on?

I watched the game and what I think is we have a coaching problem. Our guys made a run to take the lead in the second half. And then they got nervous and started cranking bad 3’s. You gotta work the offense. Bobby would have never let guy take shots 5 seconds in to the shot clock when you are ahead of A&M at home.

In a nut shell

We still suck at Basketball. Not sure if it’s coaching or just our athletes in general. It seems like Tech has always been this kind of team that runs hot and cold. At a minimum we should be able to get to the 64 bracket every now and then. I’m not a BB guy but I did watch this game and thought we had a huge lead in the beginning only to lose it before half. This is why I never get to excited when Tech BB rolls around. Not much has changed since my days at Tech.

My daughters team of 9 year olds

Is more poised than tech yesterday. If darko is your inside presence…….you suck.
We didn’t $1.2 MM worth yesterday.
We need athletes…..stat.

What happened to our freethrow accuracy we had at OkieLite?

As mentioned above

To lead by 11 at one point in the first half and allow A&M to score 13+ straight points to take the lead was ridiculous, especially at home. Polk Robison must be turning in his grave to see this happening to a Tech team. I really doubt this team, Singletary specifically, cares less about representing Texas Tech with honor. I am also sure the Raiders need to consider searching for a reliable coach who knows how to get the most out of his players and not less. The Raiders will NOT play in any post-season tournaments as long as Pat Knight is the coach. He simply has no feel as to what to do to lead a team to the victory lane, not when they cannot even find the basket from the free throw lane. Check the teams of Robison and Gibson and you will fine TEAM free throw percentage close to 80%. This team is fortunate if any one player is shooting free throws at an 80% clip. This is a very disappointing year for Tech basketball. I am not exactly happy with the women either. We need someone in the AD office capable of signing on much better coaches to head both units. The ones in charge of them now are not close to being what Texas Tech basketball should be. It is time to get both programs back to where we all know they should be, and the present AD and head coaches are not the ones capable of accomplishing this.
