O.K., some football: Tight End Recruiting
I noticed there are a couple of guys who look like true TE's who are being persued by TTU. I remember Cole Roberts, Joey Hawkins, and Bristol Olomua. They were true TE types, Roberts was very respected out of hs as a Spike recruit and did well with Kingsbury and Mike Leach's early Air Raid. Mike spoke to the advantages of a true TE, one comment to the effect that the tall guy is always a little bit open.
That appealed to me since I am pretty tall myself, I would have made a great TE except I was too skinny, not strong enough, clumsy, couldn't block, brick handed, and cried when I got hurt.
But I like the thought of having a true TE for the offense. I did go on point when I heard the new coach again, as did the prior, speak to a desire for a TE for the offense. Oh, the last one on the roster was a guy named Castillo, who did not do what he needed to do to stay on the team. He was converted I think from DT and did not develop enough to get pt, he was on the roster a couple of years, leaving this past season.
I remember playing against teams with good TE's who always seemed to burn us and thinking, I wish we had one of them TE fellas....
We currently have offers for these two football players as TE:
Max Stevenson, Klein Oak: 6-5, 225ish, about 4.5, bench 225 max, quate 385 max, vertical: 30 inches, offers from California, Duke, Northwestern, and TTU
Jace Amaro, San Antonio Macarthur: 6-5, 235ish, about 4.6, shuttle 4.3, offers from Baylor, Duke, and TTU
I hope they both sign as 4 stars and become AA's in three years !!
Well, I guess if they did not work out as TE, perhaps they could go to DE...

What goes on in the shed...

It is a good thing
It is dark in that shed, so no one can see what he is doing, or with whom he is doing it…….
Seriously, this guy is not Div-1 caliber material, nor will he ever be. I just hope Tubs sees him for who he is and releases him to go wherever he wants. Wouldn’t it be neat to see Tech play the team he might go to and smash him around throughout the whole game? OK, OK…..Just dreaming, I guess. (:>D

2 For his merciful kindness is great toward us: and the truth of the LORD endureth for ever. Praise ye the LORD.
I suspect the only reason A James remained at Tech
is he knows this is his only chance of playing college football. Once he leaves here he is untouchable. Why he feels the need to be a universally despised mediocre college football player at Tech rather than a happy camper college student at a new school is beyond me.
Please stop ending every controversial comment with 'Just saying'. Drives me batty. Thank you.
I would have never guessed you were tall...
good info, thanks for putting together.

I really hope that that bench max on Stevenson is a type-o
225 Bench max is not D1 TE material….. period. Hell, I went nearly a year without touching a weight and came back pushing 235. Plus im taller, and was faster in HS. If this guy gets on the squad I WILL walk on just to show he doesnt belong.
If it weren’t for the whole heigth, weight, strength, speed and age thing, I’d be right there with you.

FYI,
I hid a comment by RdrPwr about a unsubstantiated rumor re. Michael Crabtree. If it could be proven true, then fine, but asserting that someone is a drug-user isn’t appropriate.
Go Raiders . . .
Double-T Nation
I went to the San Antonio school andlooked up this TE
Here is where it is posted on the MacArthur High School site:

Jace Jordan Amaro, bornJune 26, 1992 graduates in 2011. He is 6’5" & weighs about 230 lbs.He ran a 40 in 4.6 as a sophomore, will start for MacArthur, has a 33 inch vertical leap, benches 320 pounds, and caught 29 passes for 350 yards this season, scoring 4 TD’s.
Way out in the future, but worth keeping an eye on, as is Stevenson. But this kid could be better.

TallMike- Surely you jest (note the sarcasm to follow)
Why bring up the need for a new tight end?
We have within our very midst, the picture of professionalism, committment to train, respect for all coaches and from all coaches in the one, and the only, Adam James. (end of sarcasm)
OK – I can’t take it anymore !!! I hope the coaches stay on this little boy in the Spring drills. It would be justice to see him wash out.
