Scout.com says that Boone is going to LSU Damn

Boone says that he is making his announcement tomorrow at 2 p.m.  Tubs blew this one.  Scout says he is going to LSU.  I hope that Tubs know what he is doing.  This guy could do it all, punt returns, kick off returns, play offense, defense.  If we lose Boone, then 2010 class is a bust.  I don't think Tubs knows what he has gotten himself into.  The Texas, Oklahoma, and A&M class are really good.  I think we are taking a step back that we cannot recover from.

This is a FanPost and does not necessarily reflect the views of Double-T Nation's writers or editors. It does reflect the views of this particular fan though, which is as important as the views of Double-T Nation's writers or editors.

Boone

Let him go…He runs a 4.59 40….He’s also labeled a “slow” receiver…

We’ll be totally fine without Boone. We’ve got more than enough talent on the offensive side of the ball.

Didn’t he have a FL pal who was coming with him? How’d that work out?

If this shows up as a repeat comment, I apologize.

In any event, let’s try not to knee-jerk with every decision. The message boards have been saying this for days. TAMU apparently lost Fobbs, a WR to LSU, which may change Boone’s mind.

And to be clear. Are you saying that if Boone signs with LSU, Texas Tech just needs to quit playing football and not sign the rest of the class? And Texas Tech will never recover? Ever? For ever ever?

If this is a troll post, and I see that you joined recently, consider yourself warned. If you’re serious, then you need to bring a little more than speculation in a FanPost. DTN is not a message board.

I disagree

I disagree that its the end of the world if we don’t get Boone. Yes, we have lost a big recruit, but that doesn’t mean we can’t compete with the rest of the Big XII crowd. This is unwarranted absolutely. We may have lost Boone (and who knows why he is going there because I don’t think he will get much chance to use his skills there) but we have picked up several position specialists.

Where to begin with this post?

Nevermind, I’ll keep is simple. WORST POST EVER. Out of my respect for Seth, his blog, and the many, many people here I respect, I ask that we not even comment any further here and reward this nonsense.

CONTRADICTION...

Supposedly SI has announced that Boone has chosen Texas Tech and will announce and sign at 7:45 in the morning…

Just Because

Boone doesn’t sign with TTU does not mean Tuberville blew it. What about the stud recievers in Dallas going to ut, who blew that? What about Jackson Jeffcoat, why weren’t we in the running for him? Was that Tubervilles fault? Come on. I don’t like the coaching change either but the High Plains Drifter is a good coach and he has held together and added to fine Tech Class. Now lets get some class in our comments and Fanposts. Wreck Em.

I feel as though

I have wasted more of my time and effort into the decisions of a group of 18 year old kids enough. This is ridiculous. The recruiting class tech has coming in is still a good class. And good or not, I do believe we have some really outstanding coaches. Dont know about you, but I could care less where Boone signs. I go to Texas tech, the greatest university in the world, and it’ll still be aorund whether or not an 18 year old thinks it’s “cool” or not.

THIS JUST IN!!!!!!!!!! I heard Boone is going straing to the Canadian Football League. He feels that the additional yards on the field are needed to support his game.

by logan5555 on Feb 3, 2010 8:18 AM CST reply actions   0 recs

all i know about this upcoming season is that we are going to have some veryy powerful defense never seen like before. offense wise…. i really have no clue. we have 3 amazing QB’s (sticks, karam, young) but we wont carry the same offense we are used to. air raid is dead without riley and leach.

by cfraider on Feb 3, 2010 8:53 AM CST reply actions   0 recs

Give me a break

Sounds like ones opinion cannot be heared here. I too love TTU and want success. However, in every class there are certain kids that define your success. This class even with Boone is not the best rated by The Pirate, but I believe that it has several impact players that defines wins and losses. Nobody was better than Leach getting more for less. How many times this year did Leach have to sideline receivers because they wer not participating at a 100% level. We have several good receivers, but no great receivers. Why do you think Crabtree was so special. He was a great receiver, and to win in this league, you better have impact players. You cannot win consistently without them. And yes, I do not think Tubs will make it at Tech. We will have to wait and see. I am behind him all the way. Tech is a great place, and no place better. But we all have to be realistic, if we lose these impact kids, then we will find ourslever fighting Baylor for the cellar. Ankd ask them how that feels. Go TECH and good luck today.

by cweber7377 on Feb 3, 2010 9:02 AM CST up reply actions   0 recs

boone is good. 4 star player 81 grade from espn. bradon sharpe was a 2 star player. look at the amazing things he has done to our offense more than any defensive player at tech. what we are trying to say is you are paying to much attention at a player that we dont know how he can turn out. we dont even know if he would of been an impact player.

Kinda oxymoronic to say “I dont think Tubs will make it.” and “…. I am behind him all the way.” In the same sentence.

Not that I’ve SEEN it done…I’ve just heard it’s possible.

Heck…anything’s possible.

I’ve seen a dude’s chair just slip out from under him because the chair was tired of said dude’s crap. I’m guessing that’s what happened anyway.

I think Corker is Great

We will do fine without him. More to come in the future.

by cweber7377 on Feb 3, 2010 9:13 AM CST reply actions   0 recs

Shawn Corker....

is no slouch. He’s a three star kid with size. While he does not have blazing speed (4.7), he has the ability to catch and run routes. Isn’t that what we expect from our receivers? He was recruited by several major programs including Auburn, Miami, Florida, Oregon, Ole Miss, etc. This tells me we beat out some damn good teams to get him.

Tuberville has done a great job salvaging what he could out of this class. Guess what…there is another Kadron Boone in next year’s recruting class. You may recall a kid that we all hoped would come to Tech and went to Alabama…Julio Jones. Not too many Tech fans are upset about that because we move on.

There still may be a surprise in this year’s recruiting class, but given the circumstances…I’m happy with what we salvaged. So we dropped a few spots in the “recruiting rankings”. Let me say this…unless you are in the Top 10 in recruiting, a drop from 24 to 32…doesn’t mean much. let’s be real and welcome these great student athlete’s to Tech!

Wreck ’em!!

by TechPrezNB on Feb 3, 2010 10:14 AM CST up reply actions   0 recs

I don’t understand BTech’s rationale—should we just go ahead and forfeit all our games for 2010 cause 1 recruit went to LSU. Crab was great but he also had an accurate QB throwing to him and a great OL. We’ll be fine….Boone decommits from Tech where he can be a 1000 yard receiver to LSU where he will be a blocking decoy.

by WreckerRaider on Feb 3, 2010 9:16 AM CST reply actions   0 recs

+1 hopes he likes the 20 yards per game he gets.

by ST04 on Feb 3, 2010 9:25 AM CST up reply actions   0 recs

Darn

it’s never a good feeling to lose out on a 4-star recruit but there’s so many factors that make him an impact player once he arrives at a school i won’t lose sleep over it. We can recover and, as TTU London pointed out last night, it’s not necessarily about the star rankings, it’s about what we do w/ the players once they come here.

i do think, however, that we jumped on BTech a little too much for his opinion. sounds like he just really liked the guy and was upset about it.

by Ferret88 on Feb 3, 2010 9:59 AM CST up reply actions   0 recs

BTech had his heart set on watching Boone in the Scarlet and Black.

He clearly is disappointed just as people are disappointed that Mike Leach is in Key West, FL and not Lubbock, TX.

But he did add some remarks that foretell woe and misery…probably won’t buy season tickets, stop giving to TTU, throw away his Red Raider flag, caps, jerseys, license plates, Red and Black orthodonic gear, etc…

Recruiting Season…the most misunderstood and overvalued day of the year. Of any teams given class, only a few will ever turn out to be impact players. Six would be considered huge. Let’s all relax and not worry about any of these kids who signed and especially the one’s who didn’t. Some of them, like it or not, peaked as HS seniors last year…some will never peak…some will be awesome and have a shot at the NFL. But we can’t predict who it will be because, frankly, only one of Tech’s highly touted recruits is playing on Sunday. The rest were castoffs.

Boone is not our savior

It’s not a big deal guys. We have plenty of depth at the WR position for years to come and we can find a better Boone in next years class. His mistake not ours.

quit giving the same..

credit to texas a&m that you give to texas/ou. It’s been established for a number of years now that tech’s program has turned the corner and that A&m on the other hand has set idle and even taken the backseat to what we’re doing out in lubbock. That school simply gets recruits because of their great facilities. The tech program is starting to bring in the big bucks and when our facilities match that of UT and others it won’t be as hard to bring the 4 and 5 stars in. you can give a&m 10 star recruits and they just dont know what to do with them.
