Tubs needs your ideas and help per

Redraidersports.com. Don't worry I'm not giving away secret info but I would like to include DTN'ers on the vote. Chris Level has asked the member or RedRaidersports.com (the rivals pay site) to come up with a name for the walk Tubs wants to start from Dan Law Field to Jones AT&T Stadium. The walk would be similiar to his Tiger Walk at Auburn and many other walks seen in the SEC. He wants to do this so that the fans can have an opportunity to high five or touch their favorite players before each game and thus feel closer to the program. I think it would be cool if we all voted on our favorite name and then had Seth email it to Level.

My vote is for Scarlet Road because march and walk would be imitation.

  • Line the path with Saddle Tramps x amount of feet apart so that people see them and line up accordingly
  • Line up the Recruiters in between the Saddle tramps (eye candy boys, were on national tv and its important to have tna for all thos high school kids watching)
  • Leave space for fans to fill in
  • Lots of red streamers, pom poms, crates paper. All that crap they make in China just as long as its Scarlet

What would you name it?

This is a FanPost and does not necessarily reflect the views of Double-T Nation's writers or editors. It does reflect the views of this particular fan though, which is as important as the views of Double-T Nation's writers or editors.

Yeah! Let’s start making traditions just because other schools have them! We’ll be right on our way to becoming the next Oklahoma State – who was trying to be the next Texas Tech… but that was back when we were cool, innovative, and not a knock-off school.

It would be cool if we could have a Touchdown Jesus mural visible from the stands

Maybe it can be put on the wall of the new high rise hotel facing University. We also need a grotto where we can light holy candles and pray for victory.

How about "Watch Your Step, We Don't Need Any Injuries Before Kickoff"

And since we tend to run out of gas before opponents with deeper benches, we might want to think about a shorter walk for the defensive starters. Use prop players (students in old uniforms) for this PR walk & let the real players rest up.

Then you have players coming out of the tunnel coughing their lungs up.

It would look a lot cooler though if they used the black smoke mix and moved the machine up the tunnel a bit with a fan to blow it the length of the tunnel. That way, it would be a full smoke screen the players would be coming out of. Just imagine seeing the Masked Rider coming out of the black abyss.

Cheap Imitation

I say if we have to keep the smoke machine then lets make sure that sucker generates some smoke. On most intrances it looks like the Walmart version of smoke machines as it barely fills the tunnel.

Some Examples:

At all the Football Players walks I have witnessed, the players are dressed in suits and ties.
Dignity. Respect. Sharp. Professional. Excellence.

I would like to see Tech do the same, walking right through Raider Alley,
led with our Texas Tech’s ZIT Drum Line, and followed by our mascot, Raider Red.

(the Drum Line would definitely get everyone attention, and… they are Excellent, as always.)

I wouldn’t add the Masked Rider on the Horse, due to the possible fresh horse patties…

Ole Miss… they make the “Walk of Champions” through the Grove, and into the Stadium’s locker rooms.
Mississippi State… they watch the players come through the Junction (tailgating area), called the “Dawg Walk”
Georgia…. “Dawg Walk” also.
University of Illinois…. “Illini Walk”.
Auburn…. “Tiger Walk”
Notre Dame… couldnt find a name… but here is a pic http://gameday.nd.edu/assets/14564/original/playerwalk.jpg

My suggestion

Mike Leach’s “Air Raid Alley” leading to Jones stadium.

If you don't like "Air Raid Alley"

How about:

Air Raid Contrail

Air Raid Jet Trail

Air Raid Vapor Alley

Air Raid Streamer

The Air Corridor

or the “Matador Way”

Nobody can think of a name that clicks....

because deep down you know it is wrong to imitate something 25 other schools or more are doing. OSU doesn’t really have convictions when they do guns up…..it kinda looks half ass. Blackbeard hit it on the head…..lets not be like Okie State and copy crap like that.

Real Texas Tech Traditions (for those that do not know)

1. Goin’ Band Marching to the Jones
2. Goin’ Band field entry
3. Saddle Tramps
4. Raider…………………Power
5. Victory Bells in the tower (if hance has not broken them)
6. Hottest co-eds on the planet
7. (relatively new) Raider Alley
8. (relatively new) Raidergate
9. Masked Rider and field entry
10. Kicking aTm’s ass (ok we forgot this year)
11. Band playing Nation Anthem followed by the Matador Song in TT formation
12. ZITs

Seems to me that although I don’t have a complete list here, we have more than enough traditions and the Meerkat March would not add anything to gameday. Plus, unless the team is going to suit up, get on a bus, ride to Dan Law, and then walk thru the crowd, folks are going to have to get to the stadium awful early to witness.

Don't fight the SECification of Texas Tech Football

It’s going to happen anyway, so as Clayton Williams once said, “Lay back and enjoy it”.

Tradition

There is one SEC tradition I won’t mind!

I do too, but I have to park near Levelland to tailgate so

I don’t want to leave my beer and brots two hours early just to see a bunch of guys in ties.

Students..

Probably won’t come because we already have to wait in line all day to get seats. Who needs us whippersnappers anyway?
