"I'm gonna be the head special teams coach...and get ready"
Did anyone else love this quote from Coach during his presser? Special Teams and Defense = championships. Let our offense do their thing, and bring the house on the other sides. Other items he hit on...Starters on special teams, we are going to make it fun, create turnovers, special teams are not going to be a play off.
He also seems very high on shawn corker and tre'vante porter. Seems like Coach isn't too impressed with what Leach had in the program and how they played in the Alamo Bowl.

Watching him as he spoke of special teams, he seemed to have something in mind…like that is going to be my area of responsibility and you are going to like it…get ready !
He also spoke well of Richards, and Warren, and Whigham—whom he described as raw. He really likes Carmical.
Spoke well of Young and Griffin—he may have mentioned something about Griffin being able to make it academically.
He certainly has set his eyes on certain improvements to be made on defense.
I thought he looked tired, again as in his first press meeting.

Pssssttt...Guess What...Tubs isn't Going to be the ST Coach!!!!!
Another contradiction from our new “Salesman”?????
Tubbs has always coached special teams
That’s Tuberville’s area of specialty. If not him, who will? Do you have information to the contrary or are you just speculating?

been waiting all day for your next "reveal"
"There's going to be ups and downs but you have to enjoy the battle." Mike Leach
My apologies..
Based on further information, I recend my prior statement on the ST situation.
Speaking of coaches.........
Ruffin hired Brandon Jones, Clay McGuire, and Dennis Simmons to his staff. Good Pirates all.
"There's going to be ups and downs but you have to enjoy the battle." Mike Leach
Wow...
Dennis Simmons is a bigger loss than you guys can imagine.
I haven’t talked much about him because he preferrs to keep his life private (and I respect that because I knew him), but he was Leach’s right hand man on recruiting and scouting from the beginning before he moved to Special Teams coach and then to Outside Receivers Coach.
One hell of a stand up guy.
Good luck Dennis. I’m rootin’ for ya.
"Blind faith will lead you to the promised land...trust us." Texas Tech Administrators and Board of Regents (not a direct quote but it smells about right)

ECU
Do they play in Texas next season? I would like to go catch a game and see what those guys are doing out there.
I think,
that special teams left a lot to be desired despite our improvement under the new ST Coach Russell.
I love Zooz, but the punt return team paled in comparison to the Kick Return team with Eric Stephens. The corresponding coverage teams mirrored their return teams as well.

Wreck 'em, Tech!
This is going to be interesting...
and though I hope for improvement immediately I know it’ll probably be a few years before we truly see a difference.
