Big Ben gets the Mike Leach Treatment

I'm no Steelers fan, and have no great love of their QB Big Ben. However, after listening to ESPN's coverage of his latest sexual misconduct allegations, a familair ring can be heard. As of 10:00AM this morning, this is what we know as fact regarding the situation. Less than a year ago Ben was accused of assaulting a young women. The police investigated the incident, and according to their investigation, no criminal worngdoing was found, and the young women was further described by police as "uncredible".

In that case, Ben was never charged with any crime, and although he was offered a settlement to make the civil charges go away, Ben is addimit he did nothing wrong, and is taking the yougn woman to civil court.

Now in the same 12 months, Ben has been accused by a young women in Georgia of similiar misconduct. Based on preliminary investigation by police, Ben has again yet to be charged with a crime. I would add that according to ESPN, Big Ben has yet to be charged with a crime in his life.

Now it could certainly come to light after further investigation, that Ben did commit a crime. But so far nothing. yet all day yesterday, nearly every ESPN "analyst" took time out of their day to absolute lambast Big Ben. Both Steven A. Smith and Collin Cowherd went so far as to say that even if Ben is founf completely innocent of all charges, he should still be subspended by the NFL! Are you kidding me! If no wrong doing is found, they still think he shoudl be punished, but the accusation hurts the league! This is not a player who spends his offseason nights clubhoping in downtown Pittsburgh, new York or Atlanta, thus constantly putting himself ina situation for this kind of stuff. No, this is a guy who during the offseason, secludes himself away for the public eye by living in the boonies in rural Georgia. He goes to a local bar, and this happens. As of this morning, and what we know as FACT, what has NFL rule, or stateor national law has Big ben violated? The answer, none. Yet the court of ESPN, is calling for his head.

Again, more information may come to light, and at that poitn all this changes. But as of right now, Big ben knows what it feels like to be Mike Leach. This kind of rush to jusdgement for the sake of creating a ratings scandal is exactly what ESPN did to Mike Leach, and what our admin facillitated. If we needed anymore evidence that ESPN is now nothing more than a sports version of TMZ, we now have our answer. I hope for the sake of his future, Big Ben is innoncent of these accusations (not charges, because he has still yet to ever be charged), and I hope ESPN is made out to be fools in this case.......and perhaps in the future case of Mike Leach once all the facts come out.

Cowherd is a opinated,d-bag, homer for USC that needs to be off air

I have never seen anyone with more discontempt for fans than cowherd. And he thinks his sh*t dont stink. I hate the steelers but big ben has made some questionable choices in the past. But innocent until proven guilty in the court of law. If he’s innocent, then it is what it is. If he’s guilty, then he is. Cant make a martry out of someone if they are clean, right?

ESPN = Outdated

Before and especially after the James / Leach scandal, I have found ESPN to be the most antiquaited (sic) way of getting sports news. Follow the bloggers, get them on twitter and get the ground level info as it happens. Break free of the distilled and recooked “information” that the Disney/ABC/ESPN want you to know. The more they get control the more they distort the picture to further their interest, which is ofcourse ownership of College Football, bypassing the conferences and the BCS and basing the National Champion on ratings and popularity

I listedn to Cowherd yesterday and thought the same thing

The blowhards at espnis will never change. I like the fact that I can get sports 24/7, but refuse to listen to their analysts for that very reason. Their idea of digging up the truth is to listen to what one of their counterparts has to say and running with it. No real honest jounalism at all.

But they also mentioned he was a good player. That makes it an even-handed story according to ESPN morality.

Forget his sister…Are we sure Adam James isn’t the one in Georgia? I’m pretty sure he has all the parts to make him be considered a girl.

Living in Georgia

My two thoughts on BR’s predicament:

1) Millidgeville? Seriously? Millidgeville is a “college town” like Canyon, TX is. If I were a Super Bowl winning multi-millionaire, I could find a much better place to party than Milldgeville.

2) Sounds like Ben needs to protect himself better ala Chuck Barry and Gene Simmons: photograph himself and his ladyfriend together nekkid and smiling before the festivities commence just to have documented consensual agreement about said festivities.

2 a.) Solicit the services of a pro to guarantee privacy.

Cowherd is okay to listen to…..you guys ever watch SportsNation that he co-hosts? The show is awful to watch. It’s like he’s trying to hard to make it work. Supposedly they have chemistry—but she (though slightly cute) and the show isn’t working out for me.

She's too ditsy...

(and slightly cute…but not cause she’s ditsy)…

and Cowherd’s still a jackass until he does something other than blow all the big programs.

I think this particular case may have a bit more to it that Big Ben’s other accusation. The girl did everything someone who has been assaulted would be expected to…flagged down a cop right away, got a rape kit conducted at a hospital within hours. Doesn’t SEEM like the behavior of a gold digging wench (and really, how many 21-year-old college girls are thinking blackmail when they encounter a famous guy at a bar…does Big Ben somehow run into them all?). But you never know…innocent until proven guilty.

Agreed on most counts...

But given that she spoke to police immediately, had the kit done etc…..isn’t it even more telling that the police didn’t charge him?

Considering who he is,

… the cops may be waiting on lab results before they do anything. Of course, they won’t have any DNA to compare unless they got a swab from Ben.

The rape kit would only show if she was forcibly penetrated, not by whom (minus DNA, which they don’t have just yet – lawyer won’t subject him to that without a court order).

Read an interesting blog by a 30-year sports journalist in Pittsburgh (name escapes me) and he basically say’s Big Ben is the worst human he’s encountered in Pittsburgh sports in his career. Can’t imagine anyone being worse than Tom Barraso, if accounts are true, but he says he is. Of course, that isn’t a crime. But apparently he’s not a liked person at all by most who have ever had to deal with him on social or professional levels.

Sad, what an idiot...

I would blame it on his age, did you know he was only like 28? Then again, no excuse for being a sucky human. Time will tell.

Yeah, you’re either a decent guy or you’re not…hopefully for him, and the Rooney family, this is a case of crying wolf.

regardless, espnis needs to go back to strictly sports programming and

leave the other BS in their locker room.
