Me too. It would be the perfect fit. A drunk that knows how to win coaching in Lubbock. All we have to do is keep him out of jail and he will rebuild our Bball program.

P.K. Is the worst BB coach at Tech in more than 20 years!

Gerald Myers is a moron! TTU alumni are morons for tolerating such continued losing! Gosh, this school is sooooooooooooooo backward!

I am so excited

I could just puke. How can they? Even if he improves next year our cupboard is bare again after that season due to the sorry recurrent recruiting classes the last 3 years. At least we can watch Baylor and dream of having a basketball program that beats ut.

I think it's the excitment only a free man can feel, a free man at the start of a long journey whose conclusion is uncertain. I hope I can make it across the border. I hope to see my friend and shake his hand. I hope the Pacific is as blue as it has been in my dreams. I hope." Red-Shawshank Redemption

That is OK

This should be the last thing Myers will ever be able to make a decision on for Texas Tech. When the court rules in Leach’s case, Myers, Hance and Bailey should wind up on the streets (unless they can somehow miraculously end up in a jail cell….together. Then, the new admin group will know they must perform on the up-and-up, or else. AND, hopefully, better hires for the basketball teams will be made when or if the two now in charge continue to under-perform.

Next AD?

So can things get any worse now? We will let PK have one more losing season, by then our recruitment, reputation and program of the Men’s basketball team will be biting the dust. Now who will be the next AD? Craig James? Bobby Knight? At the rate things have gone the past 4 months nothing will surprise me.

I really like ZT, but

ultimately, he too would be just another homey. We need a business minded AD, not a retired jock. No offense to Zack.

I just like him cause he had the balls to denounce Tech...

over this fiasco…however short lived that was.

Not that that would make him a good AD. I just think he’d come in and be pissed and fire everyone.

meh...

I like the idea of making Zach Thomas a defensive assistant/recruiting coach at Tech. But even then he won’t be interested unless Tech cleans house by getting rid of the old trio Hance, Meyers, and Bailey.

For AD,I say throw away Meyers and replace him with Leach.
Practically everyone in town supports Leach. The only people who don’t are the retard BOR’s, Hance, Meyers, and Bailey.

I doubt than anyone should be surprised that PK is returning.

I think if a poll was taken, it would be pretty strong for the guys who thought he would be back.

Disagree

I would disagree. We were consistently good (not great) during the Bobby Knight era. We went to post-season every year but once, and remember most of these were trips to the Big Dance, no NIT. Reached the sweet sixteen once, and sent players to the NBA. We also reached the Big XII conference tournament finals once and semi-finals twice. We were a solid top 4 team in the conference during the Bobby Knight era. We beat a number of high profile teams like Kansas, Gonzaga, UCLA, Ohio State, Minnesota, Iowa, Texas, Oklahoma during that time. That’s a record many teams would envy, and I would take that over the piece of crap that we have right now.

Dickey's years and bobbys years.....

We were a conference factor and entertaining….saying we weren’t that good is both provocative and inaccurate.

2 seasons at Tech, and Pat Knight is going to NIT this season.
Last year: 14-19
This year: 17-15 (2 of those losses came in double overtime against Mizzou and Nebraska)

We are not Oklahoma, UT, Duke, Syracuse, Kansas, Purdue, Ohio State, etc.
We are Texas Tech is the middle of Lubbock flat-land dirt country, Texas.
9 out of 10 people in this country can’t even locate our city on a Texas map.

Fact: The highest Bob Knight was able to go was the Sweet Sixteen and he was here for a solid number of seasons.

People can continue to rant Fire Pat Knight, but I honestly don’t think anyone can have any quality argument for it until Pat Knight has been year for at least 4 seasons with no signs of improvement. Pat Knight improved this year despite their 7-game losing streak at the end of the season.

For me, I’m giving Pat Knight one more year to prove himself. And to be honest, I don’t see that team decreasing any stock next year w/ 7 Seniors coming back, 3 new recruits, healthy players, and a number of new recruits coming in after next season

(including Kevin Wagner from Estacado who just won the 3-A basketball state championship this weekend. It was the first state championship title won for any team in Lubbock in 59 long years)

Sorry, but I can’t jump on the “Fire Pat Knight” gravy train for that.

by SkyBlade on Mar 14, 2010 11:44 AM CDT reply actions

I think everyone’s expectations for Men’s Basketball at Tech are set way too high right now.

I can understand the expectations after 4 yrs under Pat Knight, but I can’t have those expectations for merely 2 seasons.

I don’t think any coach could reach those expectations unless you are Billy Gillespie, Jim Calhoun, or the head coach at Syracuse or Duke.

My concern with Pat Knight

has always been his recruiting practices…he does not recruit HS very well. A veteran staff that has deep experience and they do not recruit hs players very well.

In all honesty, even though we have seen some guys from jc’s come in and start, they are not all that good either.

He currently adds to the concerns by being so open and giving us worry about his hc ability by speaking to learning on the job from Coach Barnes, whom he calls a mentor, and who gave him advice on how the horns defensed the Raider games.

Now for football...

Hance, Myers, and Bailey just flat out threw away the best-quality coach the school has ever had in any of the major sports (excluding Marsha Sharp). For that alone, I stand firm that those 3 stooges should be fired. I don’t care what any of those guys resumes look like.

They goofed. And they goofed REALLY bad on that decision.

by SkyBlade on Mar 14, 2010 12:04 PM CDT reply actions

I would suggest that PK has been here many more years than the 2.5 on his resume

Remember, he worked for daddy and was a major part of the recruiting process and on court coaching process. Should have it together by now.

Also I expect to win everything every time. Otherwise, why play the damn game?

billy gillispie

Atleast if we had billy gillispie we could blame the losses on his drinking habbits. With PK we can only blame it on his lack of recruiting, and lack of coaching.
