The Player Speaks: LAJ's Don Williams spoke with Alfredo about coming to Texas Tech and said that the fact that Texas Tech runs a similar offense was a big reason:
"We watch film on Texas Tech, and we run the same offense (in high school),’’ he said. "We get everything from them. We pretty much run all the same plays. It’s identical. That’s why I say it’s a perfect fit."
And Alfredo said that he and his brother, fellow Texas Tech commit OL Tony Morales, motivate each other:
"I think it’s really good,’’ Alfredo Morales said. "We motivate each other and stuff on the field to make each other better.’’

Scouting Report: Just like his brother, this video is from Alfredo's sophomore season and Williams article mentions that he's the starting right guard. That's just about the perfect positions for the Morales Twins and fits into what what head coach had previously talked about, which is somewhat smaller linemen at the guard and center positions. Considering this is his sophomore year, he looks awfully polished and very similar to his brother. If Alfredo was this far along as a sophomore year, his first year starting, then I think the future looks bright for Alfredo. In the video, Alfredo is starting at right tackle and I think that he would definitely need to be a bit quicker, I think, and I think he's probably learned to finish each and every play, but he's awfully strong, and that's the one thing that impresses me the most.
Alfredo, welcome to Texas Tech and Git Your Guns Up!
The 2011 Class: Updated with McRoy off the list and added Clark. Won't have time to get to this week's commitments until later in the week, or possibly not until this weekend. I'm tired.

excellent
this class is turning into something really good. We always need more o-lineman.

WELCOME aboard, Alfredo
You and your brother will add great depth and future talent to an offensive line that continues to be a Tech strength. Also with CB Freddie Warren from Pinkston HS in Dallas, we are adding some athleticism that can be used just about anywhere on offense or defense. I like where this class is headed.
Let us hope TT does not get discouraged by what transpired this past weekend and pull out by next year. We need to build this team up so next time Tech can have some leverage to receive some attention for expansion by other conferences. I would like to see the BIG-12-2 be at the forefront. But, with UT at the helm, I seriously doubt anyone would be willing to set foot in this conference in the future.
TTpilk Psalm 117:
1 ¶ O praise the LORD, all ye nations: praise him, all ye people.
2 For his merciful kindness is great toward us: and the truth of the LORD endureth for ever. Praise ye the LORD.
The other two
I’m pretty sure they got mentioned among all of this conference mess, but we also picked the following
Kindred Evans DE 6-6/215
Freddie Warner DB 5-10/176
No rankings of either on Rivals.
I think this is important to keep in mind about Alfredo Morales
especially when we are tempted to compare him to his brother:
"He had a junior year where he was injured,’’ Edelman said. "He came in with a knee injury to start the year and midway through the season broke his arm. But he’s a very talented young man.’’
There is now doubt that time cost him some develop opportunities. I don’t know how these things work but it seems reasonable to me that he could be quicker at this stage had his knee not been injured…not considering the nature of the injury itself, I have no data on that, but more in lost time working out, lost strength due to laying off of it some, more that kind of thing.,,,then he broke his arm….that makes him sound pretty tough minded in my opinion, was he playing with a gimpy knee then also broke his arm…or did he break his arm some other way not related to sports?
I am like Seth, in that I like seeing the new OL guys who are going to play the interior fit what we have heard the staff describe as the kinds of guys they are seeking.
