Offseason Stuff, Ten Coolest Guys of the 20th century
My list in no particular order.
1.Eddie Rickenbacker - Race Car Driver, Fighter Ace, founded his own car company, founded an Airline, survived horrible plane crash, survived being lost at sea for 24 days, spied on the Russians, called the New Deal socialism, and there was that Medal of Honor thing, what's not to like.

2.Howard Hughes- Built the first radio transmitter in Houston, had the first motorcycle in Houston, $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$, made cool movies, was Eve Gardner's lover, told the government to go screw itself, made the "Out Law" with Jane Russell, $$$$$$$$$, set up foundations that still have $$$$$$$$$. Yea he went a little craze at the end of his life, but man what a life.

3. Clark Gable. I mean look at the guy, owned way cool cars, married Carol Lombard, enlisted in the air-core in WWII, Hitler put a bounty on his head, that Rhett Butler gig was a good one.

4.John Steinbeck - Of Mice and Men, The Grapes of Wrath, East of Eden, was wounded serving as a corespondent in WWII, coined the phrase "Texas is a State of Mind" in "Travels with Charlie".
5. Edward Weston - The best photographer of the 20th century, and quite the ladies man. Sure Adams was a better business man and technician but Weston had vision that Ansel never came close to. No photo of him just this.
6. Marlon Brando - If for no other reason than Harley-Davidson owes everything it is today to this man and the Wild One (even though he rode Triumph in the movie)

7. Hugh Hefner - More to him than just the center fold. Lots of writers got their first shot in Playboy. His influence on the American Male in the last have of the 20th Century for better or worse is hard to get around.

8. Frank and Dean. These guys defined style, grace and cool. Don't believe me? Read "The Way You Wear Your Hat."

9. Clint Eastwood - Working guy makes good in TV, then the Movies, then he starts directing movies. Still seems to be a working class kind of guy.
10. Neil Armstrong - First Man on the Moon but do you see him on "Dancing with the Stars"? Hell no, this is a man who understands the privilege that was given to him and honors that with style and grace that is beyond comprehension in today's YouTube world..

Replace Edward Weston
With “The Duke”, John Wayne. He epitomized patriotism in almost every movie he made. He was the first person probably to be called “A man’s man.” All of us wanted to be like John Wayne.
Also, somehow, some way, you just gotta put in Audie Murphy. Daredevil. Hero. Another Medal of Honor recipient. But very humbled when prodded about his accomplishments. And, he is a TEXAN! “To Hell and Back” really doesn’t do his heroics justice.
And finally, Norman Rockwell. He MADE the Saturday Evening Post. His drawings and paintings described Americans to themselves in a way we all could understand. Amazing artistic abilities that many could not fathom.
Your list is a good one, but there are so many more to choose from. The last century produced some very exciting (Sean Connery), influential (the Rockefeller & Kennedy clans), imaginative (Eli Whitney, the Wright brothers), visionary (Martin L. King, Nelson Mandella) and despicable (Adolf Hitler, Charles Manson), that to choose just ten is so very difficult.

1 ¶ O praise the LORD, all ye nations: praise him, all ye people.
2 For his merciful kindness is great toward us: and the truth of the LORD endureth for ever. Praise ye the LORD.
Yeah, I agree
Patton did more with less and with no whining. Fascinating person.

+1 to Buddy Holly
I dont get why people hate on Buddy Holly. Bruce Springsten syays that before he goes on stage, he plays some holly “to keep him honest”. Bob Dylan cites Buddy as one of his biggest influences on his style of rock today. Paul McCartney and John Lennon have said that they chose the beatles in part to pay homage to buddy and the crickets. And come on man, Buddy has some JAMS. I shake my head at the fact that buddy doesnt get the credit that he deserves.

Good choices
My Dad would disown me if I didn’t mention The Duke. There weren’t enough girls in his movies so I can’t say I’m a big fan.
I am a huge fan of Clark Gable. . mostly for being Rhett Butler. . haha. . but he’s cool for all that “other stuff” I guess too.
I would add C.S. Lewis, Winston Churchill and Billy Graham.
Groan
It’s a personal list. We aren’t obligated to celebrate diversity in our personal opinions now are we? Just write your own list and include whoever you want.

Your right....
I should have included some of the following, Louis Armstrong, Count Basie, Miles Davis, Nat King Cole, Bill Crosby, BB King or SIdney Poitier, all very cool guys.
Jackie Robinson was a very brave man and a gifted athlete but he just does not flip my Cool Switch, kind of like John Wayne.
No disrespect to either of them.
FORZA ROSSI
Sidney Poitier = not only cool but also a badass.
