Around SBN: Jeremy Lin And How The Pac-12 Missed Him

LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. -- Day 1 of the of the Gridiron Kings is in the books and the players are prepared for tomorrow's 7-on-7 competition that will match up the country's four regions -- Southeast, Southwest, West and Midwest to determine a champion. There are 64 players in all and they represent some of the elite football talent in the country. In fact, 22 ESPNU 150 prospects are in this event.

One of the most impressive offensive players in today's practice session was Texas Tech quarterback commitment Michael Brewer (Austin, Texas/Lake Travis). He will lead the Southwest squad and Brewer's plan is to lead them to the championship.

"This is awesome," Brewer said. "There are some incredible athletes out here that are so talented. Sure it will take a bit to get used to everyone. But I think if I am patient this offense will be great tomorrow. We can win this whole thing."

Of note to Brewer's success as well

A lot of the Southwest stars in the receiving corp did not show up, which means Brewer was showing this success, in spite of those no shows. The kid is going to be a force in next year’s competition, even if he won’t win right out,

I wonder if UT is kicking themselves right now for just offering him a grey shirt? The more I hear about him, the more he starts to stand out. I really thought Young was our guy for the future, but brewer has really been making me rethink that. I wonder if one of these guys won’t be willing to only be a 1 or 2 year starter for us. If Young turns out to be the stud he seemed to be, he may be beating out Karam and Doege next year which will make things even more interesting. What an awesome dilema to have!

if young forgoes baseball

and sticks with football, the qb battle will be VERY interesting come 2012.

Although Scotty is rated very highly I think that Brewer is more Neal Brows style. Young is a classic Graham Harrell type

ESPNU

During the Alamo Bowl replay, there were lots of ads for Gridiron King coverage 7on7etc. so might be interesting to see our guy in action
