Taylor Potts Named Starting QB
http://www.texastech.com/sports/m-footbl/spec-rel/082210aab.html
"We have a very talented group of quarterbacks and are excited about every one of them," said Texas Tech head coach Tommy Tuberville. "The competition during camp between Taylor (Potts) and Steven (Sheffield) has been outstanding but at the end of the day we can only have one starter. Taylor has done a tremendous job and we feel like he has gotten better each and every day. There is no doubt that Steven has also improved during camp and will still be fighting to take over that starting job every day at practice. That kind of competition will only make us stronger as the season goes along."
Let's all get behind the team and support them 100 percent!

Congrats to Potts
I’ve always been a sticks fan, but with the change in staff and the way they have handled this very tough decision, I can’t help but support this choice and wish both Taylor and Steven and the team the best. I know that during this season we’ll need all the quarterbacking we can get.
Now That The Decision Has Been Made...
We need to get behind and support the the Team 100%. Please no Boo’s the first time Potts makes a mistakes, he should not be looking over his shouder all the time…
We all have our own opinion of who the quaterback should be, but the coaches work with those guys everyday, and they should know >> that’s their job.
Guns up!

I'm not a boo-er, think it is in bad taste...
but in the case of A. James, I fear my manners may leave me and a few boos might escape…oops!
I have a feeling that booing Nancy won’t be acceptable by lots of folks in the stands, but I can imagine that whatever he manages to do on the field will be met with cold silence.

I think you're right
I just hope that if C. James comes to any games he arrives early, leaves late & sits in a box (meaning suite, not an actual dark box in case anyone was thinking I was suggesting anything untoward…) so we don’t even know he’s there. I can see his presence creating a real negative stir in the crowd.
But if anyone starts booing TP for a bad play & let twinkle toes James off that is really going to make me mad. Regardless of TP’s shortcomings on the field, he is by all accounts a decent young man who deserves our respect.
Nancy may be one thing, but Pony Boy is fair game.

It’s hard to explain good sportsmanship to my kids when fans are booing ANY players, let alone one of our own players. However, it will be hard to resist booing Nancy James, Sr.
I, too, think silence is golden.
This makes the second decision that Tubs has made this week that I find questionable. (First being the red-out – makes us look like Nebraska). Sure, we are supposed to trust the coaching staff. To be honest, they haven’t had a chance to earn my trust. It doesn’t come on blind faith. Talk to me after the SMU game. I’ll have a better feel for whether or not I trust them.
This lady likes football, too.
I doubt it. Maybe the first time or two, but he will have a huge majority of the team come out in support for him in the media. That will shut them up. As it should. Not sure I could let a college kid keep me up at night, figuratively, the way it seems to some people.

Adam James, the Rudy of our Age
Last time I checked all of Tech’s football players were in college, and yet we all still post.
A lot if “ink” gets spilled here for Batch, Potts, Sticks, Duncan and Bird – college players all.
I await the day when this huge majority of the team comes out to support James, when he becomes a media darling, and when the fan base can simply forget the errors of the past based on another 15 catch season. That will indeed be a great day to be a Red Raider.
Are you suggesting that we should believe that our fans, who booed their starting quarterback for half of last season, have been waiting all of this time to dip into their deep reservoir of goodwill to applaud the exploits of one Adam James?
James may be the target of ‘silence’ or ‘boos’, but it would be naive to think that the meaning of those sentiments don’t extend beyond the field of play.

Ditto
I might add: Adam James may have a real breakout year where he catches 20-30 passes (sic.). Or he could explode and have 50-70 catches (not likely, tho). That is not really the thing many have dissed him for. He is a receiver and should make receptions if on the field. Because of his immaturity, he pulled something that resulted in a man losing his job, and James thought (thinks?) it was (is) funny. He basically was laughing in the face of his coach, way before any of this went down. The players will not say anything as they should not, because their focus is winning. I, for one, have no love for the guy because of his continuously negative actions for the last couple of years. But, the thing that really gets my goat is the way his dad took it all and used it in an attempt to destroy a very good situation at Texas Tech. He also used his “position” on ESPN to “push” his agenda, with, unbelievably, the blessings of the organization. Because of their despicable actions, a totally crazy administration seized the opportunity to play out their own story. It all fit together way too well. No wonder the Pirate coach was distracted, as well as goaded into taking some questionable actions of his own. All that is past history, but we fans who also suffered through all of that cannot, and will not, forget all that negative stuff. We will, however, back whatever the new staff does that improves the team and, hopefully, leads them to a top-tier bowl. I may not “boo” anyone, but my silence will speak volumes, as will that same silence thousands others may offer.

It was his dad, his dad 100%
the kid did what kids do, he laughed at things many of us have laughed at (and still do)…authority. He misled the reality of his situation to his dad, I don’t know his motive, but perhaps it was just his way of laughing at authority. I hold the entire sequence of subsequent events as actions of the dad…dads (and moms) can do things that kids do not want, do not like, and find embarrassing and difficult to live with, I will not fault the son because of the actions of the dad.
Maybe Adam James is a villan, if so his villany is pretty minor, more a correctable flaw in character. I will take him over any child molester, any drug dealer or user, or any one else who willfully abuses other people to their advantage. There are a lot of sorry people, he is not all that bad. If he is a chip off the block, hopefully he still has time to see that he can be more than what his example is…his current situation at TTU is a great opportunity for that to happen.
I do hope he has a good season, not because of who he is or what he did last season in the dark, I want the TTU Program to grow with wins, caught passes, and well executed blocks.
women should put pictures of missing husbands on beer cans
thanks for your freudian story
but the kid did plenty of stuff on his own – disrespecting authority #1 in my book. It’s the whole mantra of the elitist. I don’t need to wear the practice gear, I don’t need to do the sand-pit for not exerting effort – I don’t have to suffer any consequences from tearing down the coaches office door in a temper-tantrum. The whole deal wreaks, and he used his father’s influlence to get what he wanted – Leach out – that was his only motive and he used his pappa as puppet master to get it.

I love...
that Tubs has finally come to his senses, and realizes we have two quality QB’s that should be given a shot to win the starting job each week.

I said before..
I wonder how many QBs have won the Manning Camp Trophy for best QB, and then NOT gone on and start for their school. The answer is probably none. Two different talented coaching staffs have measured these QBs and come to the same conclusion. I think it’s telling that a some coaches would have come in and used this as an opportunity to put further distance between them and the previous regime by picking the people choice….by Tubs and Co instead chose the less popular path, while at the same time concuring with the previous staff. You heard Brown say all the film was reviewed for every practice, scrimmage, and previous game. Iagree it’s time to get behind this team, it’s players and coaches, and get read for what I feel will be a special, if not a championship season.

I have to say I’m really disappointed. Clearly the coaching staff did not weight the game film from last year as highly as current practice film. Potts can play in practice, we all know that. Too bad that doesn’t help if it doesn’t translate to the game. I’m really glad SMU is our first game and not UT. At least we will have a few games to get this experiment going.
That being said, I really hope I’m wrong about Potts.
I'm hoping for a Harrell-esque....re-bound after his 2006 season.

Winning the manning comp is worthless...
The game is played under duress and we have last year as a guide to how this will go. To say that I will support whomever is at qb goes without saying….but I also know this won’t end well. If brown can get Taylor comfortable in the pocket and he read his progressions….dude should get a hefty raise.
You can also throw two hc’s chose tp…and all I can say is that I hope for the best and prepare for the worst.

Harrell wasn’t exactly great in 2006. In fact, Potts had him by leaps and bounds if we compare first seasons.
Was a beautiful 80 yard drive by Harrell.

With Tubs’ quote about the competition continuing in practice. I just hope the coaches keep the hook ready if last year’s Taylor Potts shows up to play again this year.
Good luck, Potts...

Trusting the coaches
I’m trusting the coaches. I really hope there will be no more booing of Taylor Potts by Tech “fans”. It’s very possible he has matured over the last year and developed the confidence he needs. Let’s also not forget how well he performed in the Texas game last year. Tough game and he really hung tough.
Tuberville & Co. can’t afford losses. They aren’t going to make any decisions leading this team to defeats if they can help it. If Potts isn’t cutting it, Sticks will play. Let’s support Potts and hope he has a great year.
Really want the player formerly known as Nick.....
tp secede bit I also need hem to do 2 things better….not throw off his back foot ever and he must not string together several bad drives during a game(his worst weakness)….. IMO last year as consistant as he seems in practice his real achilles heel was that he could be really hot for 2 to 3 series then go extremely cold for 4 series in a row….that will not cut it….. in fact, atm admitted that if we had gone up 21 in the first quarter theywould have folded but TPFKAN folded on the 3rd drive and the rest is history….Now we just need to get behind #12 and pray he has learned some things! That is why they get paid the big bucks. Potts has always had a lot of talent and Sticks had a lot of guts. I remember though when everyone wanted Leach to sit Cumbie and play Johnson. That turned out to be the right decision. I am sorry, but those that are so negative on Potts I would like to know how successful they are in there careers under the same pressure. Doesn't matter
Potts is probably an improved player like Graham was after his horrible first year. Regardless, Sticks will be ready and pushing Potts for the starting job everyday. If the old 2009 TP shows up, Sticks gets in. I trust the coaches on this one for the time being.
I SO called this in the off season!

Here's to hoping Potts has a HUGE year

Well, there ya go
Now we have a starter, like him or not. As Texas Tech fans, we must back everyone playing that wears a Red Raider uniform. Of course, that does not necessarily transfer to their parents, though most of them are real stand-up people, except for that one………
I feel Potts has probably addressed and corrected his flaws from last year With better physical attributes, that may have been the thing that tilted the rockin’ horse in his favor. SMU is the first exam. I hope he and the rest of the team blacks it out (even if we fans are asked to wear red).

So let me get this right Sticks fans...
you want the QB that’s (currently) running the new system with lesser effectiveness to be the starting QB? How does that make sense?
Leach is not the coach anymore, and it’s Neal Brown’s system now. There’s no way to know how either QB will perform on the field in a game time situation until the SMU game, and all the NEW coaches have to go off of is pre-season practices.
Last year doesn’t matter, and probably very few people here have seen Potts throw a pass since the Alamo Bowl.
Before one of you Sticks fans goes on a rant against me filled with nothing more than your rose colored view on what Sticks has done, I’ve said numerous times that if Leach was still here then without a doubt Sticks should start. If you look at what each QB did last year while both were healthy, Sticks did have the edge IN THAT OFFENSE.
This is a new offense, and Potts has obviously shown that he’s running it better right now than Sticks.
by TheScarletandTheBlack on Aug 22, 2010 6:57 PM CDT reply actions
He has a history of being all world in practice
And then being awful in games. Sticks is the opposite. I like game performance better than practice.
"Life is short, tell me how you really feel"- me
by oldschoolraider on Aug 22, 2010 6:59 PM CDT via mobile up reply actions
did we change to a pro-style system where the 25 yard out is a cornerstone of the offense? I sure remember a lot of words being written about keeping things pretty much the same.
The point is...
Leach isn’t here anymore so we really don’t know how either QB will perform until they get in a live game. It’s obvious Potts is running things better than Sticks, so why question the coaching staff’s decision?
The more athletic OL and getting more runs out of our 4 headed monster for a RB stable can do nothing but help a QB that’s having some issues.
by TheScarletandTheBlack on Aug 23, 2010 1:14 PM CDT up reply actions
Practice does not equal a game.
Neither one of them are running the system in a game right now so it doesn’t matter. Again, Potts was better than Sticks in practice last year and every other year. In games Sticks rises and becomes better. I don’t care at all if Potts is better in practice.
For me to want Potts in more than Sticks he is going to have to actually run the offense in rhythm in a game. He NEVER did that last year. Not one time when he was in did we reel off 5 TD drives in a row (which seemed to be a staple for Tech QB’s at some point in every season). It was the first year in a long time I never felt that we could score 28 points in a quarter. Potts hasn’t been able to do it in a game. Sticks has.
So yeah I’m for Sticks.
So Potts didn't play against OU last year?
The offense looked pretty good there.
by TheScarletandTheBlack on Aug 22, 2010 7:04 PM CDT up reply actions
The running game…. we ran for 161 yards on 4.6 YPC that game. Potts threw 2 TD’s and 1 INT. Not exactly stellar… True he managed the offense well that day but a lot of it was the run. OU also turned it over twice. I can build a mountain of evidence that Potts never got into a rhythm the whole year. A 2 TD 1 INT performance isn’t going to sway my opinion.
Same thing when he came in for Doege after the half vs. Kansas. Batch won that one.
So I guess Harrell
shouldn’t get credit for winning many games in 2008 when the run game was going well….
by TheScarletandTheBlack on Aug 22, 2010 7:14 PM CDT up reply actions
Harrell hit receivers in stride and reeled off TD drives like crazy many times that year. He had his issues in 2006 but in 2008 (except Nevada and OU) he was a gamer. I don’t see the parallel.
But your point of the running game is valid in that one of the reasons we were so tough to beat in 2008 is the running game worked. But no I don’t follow your logic here. We ran for 150 some times but Harrell also threw efficiently and had a lot of TD’s.
That being said, some parallel between GH in 2006 and Potts last year could be made and GH turned out to be great. SO, I’ll keep my fingers crossed.
Also...
what happened to Leach never calling a run play, and all run plays being QB audibles?
Sounds like to me that Potts deserves a little mroe recognition….
by TheScarletandTheBlack on Aug 22, 2010 7:17 PM CDT up reply actions
Yeah he does for recognizing the run and checking down. I’ll give him some credit for that. But I’d rather have a guy who can check to the run and who can get the passing game going in rhythm.
I love this debate but I think we will just have to agree to disagree. And I’ll support Potts 100% when he trots out against SMU. And no I won’t boo if he throws a few pics. And I have some faith that he can be a lot better this year. I just think Sticks is a known commodity in games and is our best guy.
Potts biggest flaw, IMHO, is that he can’t make quick game time decisions and run the offense in a rhythm. That and he is not mobile. You can’t really become faster or more mobile so lets hope he has improved his game time decisions and rhythm.
That being said, Potts has outperformed Sticks for 5 years in practice now. After last year I know that Sticks outperforms Potts during the game. Maybe Potts has become a better game QB, but we won’t know from practice. At this point Potts being better in practice tells us NOTHING since it meant nothing last year. I just hope these coaches realize that they are gambling on the guy who has more questions during the game. Not sure why they made the decision that way.
I will of course name my dog Potts if he guides us to a championship and he has my full support. Also, I will not boo Potts even if he is terrible. I’ll have some things to say to the coaches for keeping him in there, but not to Potts. Potts gives his all and wants to be the best for Tech. Can’t fault the guy for that attitude.
And of course Nancy doesn’t have that attitude and has undermined the team in a HUGE way and lied. I will not feel bad for booing him ever. And don’t get me started on Nancy Sr.
mechanics
Taylor’s throwing mechanics were awful last year and the “love pat” from Sergio Kindle to the head ( not resulting in a penalty) didn’t help his decision making either. When I remember watching him in high school at Abilene High I don’t remember him having the same problem with throwing off his back foot but I am sure it helped having Lyle Leong on your team too. IF Neal Brown has fixed his mechanics then I believe there is “Nothing to Fear but Fear Itself”
Good Luck Taylor Potts.
"Well I’m glad you picked us last, we put that on the bulletin board and maybe we can circle around that" - Neal Brown, Offensive Coordinator
There's this...
I’ll bet there’s a few teams in the Big 12-2 that wish they had the problem we have with 2 experienced quarterbacks with big game experience. Oh yeah…the guns are up.
Here's my idea
On the SMU game, use Sticks for a half back pass, just put him on the field, then again the next week, maybe even line him up at WR, just enough to make UT spend an extra hour that week preparing. Then never do it again until the last game of season to give our bowl opponent something to waste film time on.

5. Steven Sheffield, Texas Tech
Another small leap of faith here in betting Sheffield wins the starting job over Taylor Potts, who started the majority of the 2009 season. Sheffield’s mobility may better suit Neal Brown’s variation of the Air Raid, which gives quarterbacks the freedom to tuck-and-run at any moment, but durability has become a concern for the senior, who broke the same bone in his foot for the second time this spring after suffering the same injury last season.

But…
For entire offseason, folks have been chiming in on how much better this player will be or that player will be with the last season under their belt, a spring, summer, and fall camp. But for some that logic doesn’t apply to Potts? Who here was at either scrimmage? Or more than the first two fall practices?

If memory serves, which at my age it is not totally reliable, it was Sticks who was quoted stating that there was a different focus on fundamentals for the QB’s and a scoring system that was reviewed after each practice. This would lead me to believe that it is MORE than likely that some of Taylor’s problems have been addressed. I think he has shown great fortitude during the off season as I doubt there is any possible way that he was completely unaware of the fan talk about him. I think he has shown some stones…..wait a minute…

Except the last game vs Baylor & the Alamo Bowl were two of his worst performances
He didn’t improve as the season went on. Quite the opposite in fact. I know that All You Are Saying Is Give Potts A Chance. I can dig it. But if it turns out that we have punted on more drives than we have scored in the 1st half against SMU, I am going to be seriously cheesed.
I'll give you Baylor
because that was horrible. But, the Alamo Bowl performance was much better.

When Potts was pulled we had less points on the scoreboard while playing a 6-6 team with half their offense suspended. Had Potts started & finished every game last year we would have been 6-6 in the regular season & a bowl loss in the post season. We had better see a different Taylor Potts this year. Last year’s model didn’t cut it.
SARR is dead on with these comments
psst, I agreed….;=)

Who in the Baylor game did look good ?
The entire team and coaching staff looked horrible. As they did vs TAMU !!!

I favored Sheffield but....
I’m all for a great competition and Pott’s won. I will fully support this QB and I have a feeling that he may be a different Taylor Potts this season. Maybe some really good coaching one on one helped him find his game. I remain optimistic about this season and I still think we see 10 wins. Congratulations to Potts in leading this team his senior season!

Potts
In the end potts had way more raw talent than sheffield and if he got his throwing motion down then he will be solid. We also forget how strong this kid is to come back after taking such a hit by kindle. most qbs would of had to been peeled of the field. he was also pretty good against a very good texas team until that hit. So now that he is fully healthy i think that he can be the real deal.
Potts has to be really I mean REALLY bad for me to boo him.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. I hope we don’t have a “sticks” chant during the season if/when Potts does bad.
Nancy on the other hand, is a different story. I have seats on the 45 yrd line 3 rows up… You better believe Nancy will hear my voice!
IMO
I’m a Sheffield favorer, if Potts was Tub’s favorite, I support it all the way, TUBS is the professional, I just like to think I am…
As much as I hate YOUR “Nancy”, I can’t force myself to be that uber-rude fanatic that embarrasses your own team by screaming taunts at him. He DID indirectly deliver us a PHENOMENAL new staff that that can and will take us to another level. Let him play/suck, he won’t get drafted and he’ll live off daddy happily ever db.
Never let success get to your head, never let failure get to your heart.
The First Time to BOO
Is when Gerald Myers steps out onto the field for pre-gamem ceremonies….
Is when Nancy James steps out onto the field for any reason…..
Is when Potts throws off his back foot….and the ball is intercepted.
THERE IS NO TIME
to boo

If it's important enough, you can make the time
In this fast paced 21st century world we live in, sometimes you just need to carve out the time to slow down the pace of your life & have a good boo.
Bam!
that’s good stuff.

Support Your Team
Congratulations to Taylor Potts. For Sticks, keep on trying. For Tech fans, support your coaches’ decisions and your team. There are a lot of reasons why this decision was made the way it was, and this is not the first rodeo for this coaching staff. Guns up!
Ponies get their first loss on Sept. 5. Coincidentally, Tech gets their first win the same day. I can’t wait to see Red Raider football. We may even be able to see some old fashioned defensive hits.
my personal opinion...
… very shitty news! i do support texas tech as a team but hopes have come down alot from this decision for this season. lets dont be hipocrites and accept the fact that with sticks we would of won UT last year and houston and without sticks our bowl game would of most likely ended up in a lose for us. im just being honest about it… i guess i ranned out of faith for potts
first
its i’ve run not i ranned. Second sticks would of not made a difference in the UT game obviously you werent watching because potts played his ass off. Third another factor Potts has is he is ore durable than sheffield. Fourth the sheffield supporters give no reason to why he should start other than he played good in 3 games(2 full games) but Potts also played good at times last season. Fifth Sticks even admitted after the first scrimmage that taylor had a better day so quit tearing the guy down and support him. He sees this stuff and it doesnt help him anymore if yall are tearing him down

I was at the game in Austin
And the proof for Sheffield is in the numbers. NO reason to start? Are you kidding me? He shredded the #2 defense statistically in all of college football. His passer rating was 177, and his completion % was 74.3% (even Pony McCoy was 70.6). Try this one on for size – 9 yards per attempt! In the Red RAider offensse, need I say more? You say Potts played well “at times” – at no time did Sheffield perform poorly other than the one time he went out there with a 50-lb boot on!
Every last one of you needs to be behind Potts 110%.
Have been drinking. Will post thoughts later.

Here are my 2 cents from overseas...
It makes logical sense to start Potts. This is their senior year. Potts deserves a chance at the NFL. Sticks deserves a chance to become a great leader. So, let Potts prove his abilities and Sticks help lead the team to a couple more wins. Use Sticks as a surprise weapon bringing him in at certain times to confuse opposing defenses to hopefully pull out an extra win. Remember the Alamo…Bowl? Potts won the awards but Sticks helped win the game. I predict Sticks will have opportunities to prove his leadership skills on the field.
(I really have a hard time supporting Nancy James, though. Making mistakes is one thing. But, intentionally undermining a coach and program is entirely something else.)
Potts NFL?
How bout just being serviceable in d1 first…..sheesh.

See Steven McGee
Leach was right – the Cowboys saw more in him than the Aggie staff…and the Aggies were right.
McGee
simply HAS NOT progressed like a young QB should…I dont expect him to be on the Cowboys roster next season

Not the end of the world...but close.
I just don’t know how to cope with this decision. When I found out that Potts had won the job, my stomach and heart just dropped like a ton of bricks. The only comfort that I have in this decision is that the fans really haven’t seen Taylor’s progression over the summer months, and hopefully OC Neal Brown and staff have significantly corrected some major, major flaws in Taylors game. Even if Potts has these major issues corrected, he’s still not a mobile QB. He doesn’t make decisions on the fly the same way Sheffield does, and he’s not a vocal leader. I swear, if I have to watch Potts lock on to a covered receiver over and over, and over throw someone on a screen pass, I will throw up.
The other positive thing that I can take away from Potts starting is that we’re going to be running the ball more, so this means less opportunity for Potts to screw something up for us. Also, remember that just because Potts won this job, doesn’t mean that he can’t lose it just as easily. Something tells me this tide will turn quickly and Potts will show his true colors. He’s had his chance to prove himself, all of last season. He didn’t.
Sheffield had to come in to bail him out of the Alamo Bowl game, and Sheff pretty much bailed us out of what could have been a .500 season last year. I really hope the team chemistry has changed, because last year this team didn’t look like they cared to play for Potts. At all.
So while Potts may have what it takes on paper and in practice, this has yet to translate to any sort of real success on the field, and thats disappointing. it has yet to be determined if he can turn his career around, and make believers out of the skeptics out there.
both will end up playing
I’m happy for Potts and hope Sticks will take this in stride. Sticks has proven himself to be a team guy so no reason to think that will change.
It seems to me we are in a great position having 2 solid QB’s. Actually, we’re better off than most teams in the league. And I do think at some point both will see game time.
I have a feeling Potts will do well. Coach Brown has said he wants to take some pressure off of the QB with all the reads and checking to different plays. He’s going to be telling Potts what he wants him to do each play and then it’s up to Potts to execute. That along with the increased use of our RB’s will be a big difference from last year.
Behind these guys 1000%. Let’s play some football!!!

2 to play
I am agreeing that we are going to see both playing more than you might normally expect. I fully believe that Tubbs sees the value of both these guys and will make use of that. Since the whole new coach issue happened I have been telling folks that Tubbs wants nothing more than to take this team to a BCS and even a National Title. He knows that with the correct “tweaking” of our team we do have a very legit chance of that. He wants to retire on a high note and what better than a National title, so let’s announce one starter but play them both interchangeably just to keep things lively so to speak. That’s my two cents worth.
Congrats to Potts
I’m not quite as up tight about this decision as most. Both are good QBs and will play well in my opinion. I think as long as Potts doesn’t have to look over his shoulder every week, that we’ll see both play as I think we were super-lucky with the minimal amount of QB injuries under the Captain. Or, if we need to change things up or just pick Potts up when it is “not his day,” then we know Sticks will be there to deliver.
And, if the unfortunate does happen and the second coaching staff in as many years makes the wrong decision…then we’ll insert Sticks as the starter and take it from there.
We are in a good position here. Many teams instantly move to the L column if the starter goes down.
I’m in full support of the decision, the coaching staff, and the team until proven otherwise.
Wreck ’em!
wow...
am i to understand that a good half of you will NOT be supporting the man running our offense. I thought you were Tech fans, not sticks fans…i love sticks as much as anyone else here, but surely a group of professionals opinions should matter to us, we are all a bunch of armchair quarterbacks here. I understand fully the kind of energy sticks brought, and i totally agree that he is a talented player loved by the team, but as stated before, Harrell wasnt really great in 06, but see how he turned out? This may be a blessing in disguise for all we know. All i know is I will get to attend 1, count em 1 game before i am banished to the sandbox and i’ll be damned if i will not be screaming for potts. God bless Texas Tech…
Who said they weren't going to support him?
And you arent’ allowed to express your thoughts in order to ‘support the coaches and the team’. Lighten up

Its Alright
First off. Do not boo our team or players. When I was in graduate school at O.U (yea that school in Norman) they would boo. Its trashy don’t do it. Yell, scream, cry, pull down your pants and moon them if you must but don’t boo. Great for Potts, hope you light up everybody you play kid. Hope Sticks kicks ass and takes names when he is in the game. Thank you USAF Raider young people like your self make it possible for old farts like me to live in freedom. Wreck Em Tech.
Here's the deal.
I’ve been drinking again and playing NCAA Football. If somebody can build a mind control thingy for Potts I can beat everybody by at least 60.
The real deal is that this is a new OC and a new HC. They have made a decision as far as starting QB.apparently Potts is a huge NASCAR fan and has a handle on this. Stix must be a F1 guy. See what I’m getting at?
If you watch a few of Troy’s series you can kind of see what Brown is after. I’m a huge Stix fan, but at this juncture it looks like Potts is the guy to drive this car. Lot’s of Jail Breaks and a lot of throws to the flats. Possible some across the middle BS.
I’m trusting our NEW coaches to make this right decision and correct it quickly if wrong. Jump on this bandwagon and see where it takes us. We have no idea what went on during practice. We can only assume.
I’m goingti have another beer. Somebody get a hold of Antiswarm and see what he thinks.
Wreck Em Tech!

Boo and Moon
Logan5555. Good point Boo and moon Nancy at the same time. Its still trashy ,however the stunt would stimulate a lot of interest in the program especially if the student section would buy in.
