The SMU Tailgate

Its almost here and I can't wait for kickoff at THE JONES. To help all DTN fans prepare for this right of Fall we have set the menu for our opening game tailgate. All of you are invited to stop by and enjoy. Because the game is early we are going to start out with Migas at around 10:00. The brisket and brawts will also be available. If you are like me I'll be hunting on Saturday and if any of you have Dove that you want to smoke please bring them along. We will also have apple and peach cobbler. If possible please bring your favorite chips and soft drinks and if someone could bring flour tortillas, paper plates, plastic ware, plastic cups and ice that would be great. BYOB!! as many different types of ale and spirits usually show up. It has been a tradition for the past 6 years that all who attend take a swig of Jim Beam Black just before we head to the stadium for good luck. We are going to be in lot R8 which is just west of Memorial Circle in front of the Chemistry building. I look forward to visiting with all of our fellow RED RAIDERS just look for the flags and the DTN banner. Lets send our fellow Matador, USAF Raider off with a great time and many memories to sustain him while is away fighting. We will have a special Texas Tech banner that I ask all who attend to sign so he can take it with him. GET YOUR GUNS UP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I can't make this game....

Barring a change…but I appreciate your hospitality the epitomizes west Texas. I will make a few games with my son and look forward to meeting you.

We’re tailgating with our cooker in the R-8 parking lot also. I can’t wait to finally meet some of you folks.Trust me, you can’t miss our cooker. It’s the one with 3 TVs and a kegerator.

How do we get to R8?

do we park? or do we park somewhere else and bring the munchies and brews?

We will need to park wherever you can legally park and walk

Cannot park in any of the reseverd lots (R8 included) without a parking permit. So park legally as close as you can (I will park somewhere across University) and then it is walking to the area west of Memorial Circle.

RaiderDoc – I assume we can safely leave things at the tailgate area during the game (chairs, coolers, etc) until after the game and come retrieve them when the game is over?

Tailgate gear

We have never had any problems with leaving our stuff out while at the game. There are always a few who choose to stay and dring and don’t go to the game. Also security at the entrance to R8 so things don’t walk off.

Almost hate to say it but...

I’ll have a much less amazing tailgate setup over in the raidergate lot, just southwest of R8. All of you are more than welcome to swing by and say hi and hear some rodney parker. Have a charcoal grill and beer… not much else. Spots 4 and 5, front row, just right of the stage. Look for a white extended cab long bed gmc sierra. If I have ever said I owe you a beer, this would be the time to get it plus some. I’ll try to mosey on over to RaiderDoc’s site at some point as well to say hi.
